  • RESOLVED: The Task Manager icon in the system tray

I always keep my task manager running as an icon in the system tray.  After an update of software that seems to be an update of Windows XP or IE7, I can minimize is no longer my status bar task manager system; the icon is no longer present.  I have not changed the settings view in the Task Manager bar; they are all checked.  Now, I have to keep the Task Manager minimized in the taskbar instead.  [None of the taskbar settings were changed to icons in the system tray as I downloaded the SP3 for XP over 3 years ago.]  Could it have been caused by the update or y at - it a way to get the Task Manager to reduce in the tray system again?  Thank you.

I tried all types of features troubleshooting before coming here, including a full analysis of the antiviral software from my system & checking event viewer.  I even went in the registry to see if something happened to the system tray.  BUT... The action to be performed by the most obvious and which should have been the first, I failed to do - restart.  Due to an another software update of my antiviral package yesterday, 22/02/2012, I needed to restart.  After the reboot, the Task Manager icon returns to the system tray and minimization has not caused to disappear.

The only thing I can conclude is that something has gone wrong during the update of the software of MS Windows and installation of KB2660456, KB2647516-IE7, & KB2661637.  It was the only thing that happens so that I was with MS Paint, no browser was opened or other software packages on except what is necessary to update the files over an internet connection.  To take a hit to what it was exactly would be silly because any number of operations might have bothered with or temporarily created a small problem with the properties of the view Task Manager.

So I chalk it up to did not not the most basic 'Fixer glitch", reboot, in my haste to find a culprit.  I hope that my blunder will remind others not not forget to start with the basics for sudden failures troubleshooting.  Thank you for your time and your advice.

I am connected to a wireless network, but the icon in the system tray area does not display the icon "bars wireless", instead, it shows the icon "disconnected the ethernet cable" (the square with a red X through it). How can I get Windows 7 to display the correct icon?

  • The section 'tasks' FF icon on the Win7 taskbar disappeared on a machine, but not another

FF 41.0.2 works on Win 7 Pro SP1 on two machines. On one, right click on the icon pinned to the taskbar in Windows 7 displays a "Tasks" section that allows the choice to open a new tab, new window or private by another right click. On the other hand, this section is missing. Unpin and repinning do not solve the problem. How this section is restored?

    Hello

Refresh (called "Reset" in older versions of Firefox) can solve a lot of problems in restaurant Firefox as his default factory while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose all the extensions, toolbar customizations, and certain preferences. See article Firefox Refresh - reset modules and parameters for more information.

    Refresh for Firefox:

    1. Open the troubleshooting information page using one of the following methods:

      • Click the menu button

        click Help

and select troubleshooting information. Should open a new tab containing your troubleshooting information.

      • If you are unable to access the Help menu, type Subject: support in your address bar to bring up the troubleshooting information page.
    2. At the top right of the page, you should see a button that says 'Refresh Firefox' ('reset Firefox' in older versions of Firefox). Click on it.
    3. Firefox closes. Once the update process is complete, Firefox will display a window with the imported information.
    4. Click Finish and reopen Firefox.

This corrects the problem? Please report to us!

    Thank you.

  • How to restore my Windows Task Manager menu bar?

This morning (1/27) then I tried to unlock my computer through a boring program Norton 360 use, I have somehow disabled/deleted not only my menu bar in my Windows Task Manager, but the icons that reduce, maximize, and close the screen for both Task Manager. The only way I can shut it down now is by right-clicking on the icon when it appears in my task bar.

Looks like you run the Task Manager using tiny/small footprint.

If you double-click on the empty space around the border of the screen of the Task Manager, it will change from normal mode, and then you should see the tabs you are accustomed to seeing.

You can read about it here:

  • I click the icon for Mozilla and google window opens without toll or all Mozilla icons bar and the window changes to the address www hde bar. Help!

After you click the Mozilla icon on my desktop, a Google window opens with an icon of Google at the top where there should be an icon of Mozilla. There is no toolbar at the top, so I can't use your suggestions to solve the problem by clicking on the icon of Mozilla that does not exist. In addition, the entire window slides up to obscure the www. address bar. It slides down when I move the cursor upward.

Sounds like Firefox is stuck in mode full screen. To switch between full screen and normal mode, press the F11 key.

Edit: If you do not have a F11 on your keyboard key, right-click at the top (above a bar that floats down) and you should get a short menu with the option for Mode full-screen output.

  • Color of the status icon bar

I was wondering what is the meaning of the bar being sometimes blue, or white or grey status icons?

Blue means its connected to your google services. White, we hear he has a data connection, but are not currently linked to google services. Gray should be no service.

I tried the same fix... change the way users log on power and it has not worked for me. This seems to have happened recently.

Joe, to the extent where lines underscore...

Right-click on your desktop and select "Properties".

    Click on the tab "appearance".

Click on the "Effects" button... »

Uncheck the option "hide underlined... letters. »

  • Bar of menus menus icons bar / customizable?

I have Vista Home Basic which works very well for me.  However, I have a problem when I use Windows Explorer or IE 8: what happened to the icons on the menu bar (such as the scissors to cut the Clipboard to paste)?  I really got used to them in XP Pro and not miss them!

I just can't understand how to customize menu bars to get back them.

    Suggestions?

Unfortunately, this feature has been removed in Vista (and Windows7 as well).  There is no functionality to customize to add buttons like cut, paste and similar to all toolbars in these versions of Windows - customization options are very limited and do not include options like that.  I could also find no third-party toolbars that provided these options.  It has been removed from Explorer Windows and Internet Explorer.  It is impossible even with a registry tweak.

Here is an article on how to add a button to a toolbar (but it's especially for programs - not for things like cut or paste):http://winjade.net/2008/06/custom-explorer-buttons/#more-58.  I do not think that this will help solve your problem (a problem that we ALL have with Microsoft), but it may be useful to customize your toolbar.

Sorry it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it's how she stands with Vista and Windows7 (and I guess that's the way of the future).  Maybe you can make up for this loss by learning how to use and customize the right click context menu (which is essentially a replacement if you can call it).

Here is an article with a download of a free tool to help customize the context menu in Vista which may be easier to use:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/free-software-downloads/customize-the-right-click-context-menu-in-windows-xp-and-vista/. Good luck!

Instead of these buttons, learn how to customize your right-click options to include many features that were on this command bar. http://www.jfitz.com/tips/rclick_custom.html.  This article is quite advanced (and involves editing the registry) then you must back up the registry before you begin anything as follows:http://www.adamsdvds.co.uk/tutorials/vista/regedit/backup.php.

Here is another article on how to customize the context menu.  It is also a little advanced and you need to download several other programs follow the instructions but it might be a little easier than the above procedure ultimately:http://www.vista4beginners.com/Clean-Up-Enhance-Right-Click-Context-Menu.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
