No video on FaceTime

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I lost the ability to use my video when FaceTime calls.  I can see the person I call, but they can't see me because it does not turn on. I have checked on FaceTime preferences but couldn't find an answer.

Any ideas?

I have a model MD511LL/A 32 GB iPad. I want to FaceTime with someone who can't attend an event, yet I would like to record this event. Is this possible?

Not in the app, no. Old school, aim a camera at the screen or watch in some other video chat app that could allow recording.

  • macOS jumps FaceTime from the Sierra

    Hello

I just upgraded my MBP 2012 to macOS Sierra. Since then, I am more able to start or accept FaceTime calls.

If I call someone, I always get a "call failed". If I receive a video call, I get only audio. If I want to activate the video, the FaceTime video window opens, but it's all black. I use the webcam integrated iSight, no extra hardware.

He tried a couple of times, reboots etc.

Also noticed it takes between 5 to 8 seconds the ringer before they appear on the receiving device (just tried calling my girlfriends iPhone and by measuring the time).

When it accepts the call I get a "call failed" immediately.

Anyone else having this problem? Currently impossible to find out what anyone on the internet.

But it seems that some users had similar problems with El Capitan.

Perhaps yet another network / connectivity problem (having multiple Midi outputs involving instruments AirPlay also crashes the system preferences panel or does not at all.) WiFi at the AirPort base station is not reliable either, but this is not new)

Pretty sad to see this steady decline in quality with the Apple software.

    Hello

Safe Mode boot removes the system caches can help after an upgrade.

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

    Then try FaceTime.

  • I have windows xp but no wi - fi. I want to connect an Ipod with a wi - fi connection. What should I do?

I have ADSL internet. There is no wi - fi in control PANEL / NETWORK CONNECTIONS.  I don't want a wi - fi, just an ad - hoc (?) service connection to the ipod while in the House.  All the advice I have read assumes that there is already a wi - fi connection in the control panel / network connections.  What should I do?

But I want to keep the ADSL connection with the computer, doesn't have a Wi - Fi connection for the computer. That's what I thought, it's called an ad hoc wireless network.

You're misunderstanding things.  Installation of a router "will NOT change a Wi - Fi connection for the computer."  The computer will always connect to the Internet through your current DSL service.

The only iPod with wifi possibilities is the iPod Touch.  For this camera, wifi can be used to make video calls FaceTime to another iPhone or iPod Touch, or to connect to a wireless router or wireless (which in turn is connected to the Internet) access point to download media from the iTunes store or your iCloud account.  You can also stream media using AirPlay via a wifi connection.

The only thing that you can do it via wifi - explains the longer post of Richard Harper - is to connect to your computer to back up your iPod or sync it with iTunes.

You should buy a wireless router (as said Veritas Aequitas).  The router connects to your DSL modem (and so to the Internet).  Your computer will connect to the router by an Ethernet cable, because your computer does not have a wireless adapter) and your iPod connects to the router using the wifi.

  • Why iphoto and facetime video images appear dark?

    Hi all!

I have the Macbook Pro 15 inch, late 2013, OS X 10.9.4 retina. My iphoto images appear dark that they normally used to look like on my Macbook. Even when I do facetime, video seems to be dark. I first thought that there could be some problems of substantive lighthing. I tried to adjust the camera in every possible angle. If, by chance, the facetime video seems to be normal after adjustments, it will disappear in a few seconds and the video will get darker still.

Anyone know how to fix this? Your help would be very appreciated.

    Thank you very much!

General representation is dark as well?

The brightness keys are easy to handle 'accidentally '.

  • How to use FaceTime with Siri

I you would Siri have been able to dial phone numbers using FaceTime, so my question is, is it possible? And if so, how?

    Hey MichaelnAvallone,

Thank you for reaching out to help through Apple Support communities. Looks like you are wanting to make calls FaceTime with Siri. If so, I'd be happy to explain how to make this happen. First, you'll want to press on and hold the Home button or say "Hey Siri" to activate Siri. Then, for example, you can simply say, "make an audio call FaceTime to MOM" and Siri will only start a FaceTime call audio. If you say 'FaceTime Mom' Siri will begin a FaceTime call with video of this contact.

The link below shows the ways to learn how to use Siri.

Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    Kind regards.

  • Videos do not work

I loaded the new ios 10.0.2 and now my videos do not work. It does not matter if you use videos from your own library or netflix or any other program (app). You can see that the subtitles. Is the problem in the update or what I can do? It's really important for me to see the videos.

    Hi, ehli.suomi!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I understand that you're having trouble playing videos on your iPhone from your post, 6; videos from several sources (Netflix, your own library, etc.) will show the subtitles, but you do not see the real picture. Watching videos all day on my iPhone, so I know it's important that they play in fact; I'm happy to help you!

I have some troubleshooting I can offer to you. Before you begin, create a backup of your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes, following the instructions here: How to back up your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

Once you have your backup, try the following steps, in order. A video test after each step and will stop when the problem is resolved.

    1. Restart your iPhone by following the instructions here: restart your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch
    2. If this happens on a Wi - Fi connection, try restarting the network you are using from the router or the modem (if possible). If it is a private (for example, your home network) WiFi network, try to remove all the devices on the network, then by simply adding your iPhone.
    3. Try a different network (including your cellular data network).
    4. Reset the network settings on your iPhone in settings > general > reset > reset network settings. This will affect all personal data (like your photos, contacts, calendar of events, etc.) but it will remove saved passwords, and Wi - Fi networks one previously used settings APN or VPN and all paired Bluetooth device.
    5. Restore your iPhone to factory settings, following the steps described here: use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to factory settings

Once the restore is complete, configure the iPhone as a new device (i.e. without using the backup that you created earlier, at least temporarily). You can sign in iCloud, iTunes and App Store, iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID test then a video.

If the problem is resolved, you can restore your backup by the information here: restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup

  • iOS 10 video playback stops working until you restart

I have an iPad Mini retina, and since the upgrade to iOS 10.0.01, a short period of use causes videos to stop working.

Videos in Safari, Chrome, YouTube etc. appear in the cache (saturated with progress on the top bar), but no response to play. The first image of a video appears, but only in the form of static image. I am able to change the static image displayed by rubbing them at any point in the video, but playback will not occur.

  • 10 IOS on iPhone 6s cannot record video camera?

Updated two iPhone 6s discovered today that we cannot save emailed MOV or MP4 videos to our camera rolls and recently. The option is missing from the list of options.  Fact they eliminate this possibility, remove MP4 videos in favor, or am I just missing a new setting somewhere?

    Greetings 05Moose,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see you after the upgrade of your iPhones have recently, you're unable to find saved video of your email. It's nice to be able to properly manage how your videos are stored after download you apps. I can help you with this.

To save video from Mail, click and hold on the video, until you see the contextual pop-up menu from the bottom. In this window, you should see the "save video".

In iOS 10, videos saved in your iPhone are stored in the albums of the Photos app section. Go to photo > Albums > videos.

There is additional information in the iOS 10 User Guide, specifically, this section:

    Organize photos and videos

The Albums tab includes albums that you create yourself and albums that are created for you, depending on how you use the pictures. For example, the photos you take with the FaceTime camera are automatically added to the album of Selfies. The other photo albums created include people, places, videos, panoramic, Slo - mo, gusts and screenshots.

If you use iCloud photo library, all your photos in iCloud are in all the photo album (see iCloud photo library). Otherwise, you will see the film album, which includes photos and videos you took with the iPhone and other sources.

If you use iCloud photo library, albums are stored in iCloud. They are up to date and accessible on the devices when you are connected to iCloud with the same Apple - iOS devices with 8.1 or later, Mac OS X v10.10.3 or later and on iCloud.comcomputers ID.

Create a new album. Albums of TAP, tap , enter a name, and then tap Save. Select the photos and videos, and then tap done.

Add items to an existing album. When viewing the photo thumbnails, press Select, select the items, press Add to, and then select the album.

Manage albums. When viewing your album list, tap on change.

    • Rename an album: Tap the name of the album, and then enter a new name.

    • Reorganize albums: Tap to enlarge the thumbnail of the album, and then drag it to another location.

    • Delete an album: Tap .

Note: You cannot delete photo albums created for you, as the people, places and Selfies.

Mark your Favorites. While looking at a picture or video, press on to add it to the favorite album. A photo or video can be part of another album as well as dishes.

Hide the photos or videos you want to keep but not show. When displaying thumbnails, press Select, then select the photos or videos you want to hide. Press on , and then click Hide. The photos or videos are moved to the Hidden album.

Photos and videos are hidden moments, Collections, years, souvenirs, but are still visible in the Albums.

Delete a picture or a video of pictures. Click on the Photos, click on the photo or video, press on , then press on remove the Photo or video delete. Deleted photos and videos are stored in the album recently deleted on iPhone, with a badge showing the remaining days until the item is permanently deleted from the iPhone. To permanently delete the photo or video before the days expire, tap the item, tap on delete, then remove the Photo or video delete. If you use iCloud photo library, deleted photos and videos are permanently removed from all your devices using iCloud photo library with the same Apple ID.

Recover a deleted picture or video. In the recently deleted album, click the picture or video, press Recover, and then click Recover Photo or video back to move the element to the film or, if you use iCloud photo library, all photo album.

To retrieve several photos and videos, tap the album recently deleted, press Select, click on the photos and the videos that you want to retrieve, then click on recover.

Delete a picture or a video from an album. Tap the photo or video, then press . You can choose to delete the album or remove it from your iCloud photo library on all your devices.

    Have an amazing day!

  • camera front 7 flicker HDR in FaceTime iPhone

Today I got my new iPhone 7. During a FaceTime call my video is constantly changing from light to dark. When I moved the focus of the camera (light of early evening) to bright light right behind me the HDR treatment is nog seem to know the correct brightness levels. This caused my camera of clear image flickering in dark. Not a very nice way to have a FaceTime conversation. Someone else has the same problems? Should this be fixed in a hotfix or the auto HDR mode can be turned off somehow?

Same problem here, but it flashes without moving... at all: the phone seems to be worse when there is a white background! In the meantime the entire screen flashes a light green for the Viewer.

  • FaceTime international calls

I have yet to find, or get a clear answer to this question.  I asked this question to the ministries of service clients cell phone operating and searched on the web.  If I do a FaceTime (video or audio) call VOIP (not WiFi) to a person who lives in and a one service in another country (e.g. Italy) count towards the use of data or not is considered an international call with associated carrier charges.  And this question is for the four major U.S. carriers, so if they are different please indicate how.

    Thank you

    Milton

FaceTime uses a Wi - Fi connection or data cell, period.

For some carriers, an International SMS is sent to the Apple server for the connection.

Waived taken operators supported the SMS charges. Talk to your operator on this subject.

  • iPhone are not not in the video - Quicktime Player

    I'm helping someone who has a 4S 8.1.2 running.

When I connect the phone to my Mac (and a computer Trust), I don't see Facetime in option - and not their phone listed. However, I am able to view what is on the phone via iTunes.

I used to have a 4S on Yosemite and I'm almost certain that I could see my phone listed in the recording of videos.

Is - this useless? The 4 current running 8.1.2 works on video recording via a cable brightening on El Capitan?

    Thank you.

It seems that this could work at the same time according to this article...

    https://www.tekrevue.com/Tip/record-iPhone-screen-QuickTime/

Perhaps, El Capitan that has changed or you need a new version of iOS now. I never did it myself. I don't even own a smartphone.

  • Video switch entry in settings

The PARAMETERS to the inside is quite easy to enter sich peripheral output and AUDIO, but I can't find a similar menu for VIDEO.
I have more than one webcam and one is in fact a driver that turns the iPhone into a webcam.
Many CAT software (Facetime, Skype, etc.) allow you to switch between sources, but a few apps (for most apps that are NOT chat apps) go from the default and often... is evil!
How can I switch between the VIDEO SOURCES?
If NOT, where are the drivers so I can remove what I need manually?

    Thank you

Individual applications that the video have the preference for which entry to use.

    There is no global preferences.

What do you mean by the pilots? More video as USB is the standard driver that comes with OSX.  If a clean added video device driver then you will need to contact support for the unit to where it is located.

However, I do not understand how to remove sick drivers help your 'problem '.
