No visible blackBerry Smartphones SMS sender name

When I receive an SMS to a number saved under a name in my contacts, I don't see the name of the sender. It's only the telephone number provided.

I seems that I changed a setting somewhere, because so far, the sender was shown with its name.

Thanks for the support

I found the error.

The parameter modified by me is:

From the main screen, press , the call log appears-> menu-> options-> Chip component-> National number length-> for my carrier is 8, and I was there through 12 beliving that this is correct.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS sending / is not receiving

Hello everyone, I am working on a Sprint 8530 on a BES server:

    Software: v5.0.0.654

    Platform: 4.2.0.298

Work e-mails, MMS works to send and receive internet works, and it can receive SMS messages, it can not just send SMS. I can't understand it, there is no option to reply to the sms, when I send an sms, or when I brought to compose a. I went to Options > SMS text to check the settings, I don't know what they are supposed to be, but they have matched mine (mine is same phone & software, etc.) and mine works. The only difference is at the bottom of the text of SMS on mine it says "turn off auto text: No." and there is no option on the other phone. I'm lost, I did a hard reset, I even updated the profile just for laughs, still no change. I also went to the Options > MMS to check and make sure that there is no setting that rejected the SMS, but I see what I think it might affect.

Just in case where someone asks, the settings under Options > SMS are:

    Conversational style: bubbles

    Show names: Yes

    Full name: me

    Press to send: Yes

    Data encoding: Ascii

    Priority: normal

Callback number: (is the # correct for the phone)

OK, the BES reset fixed it... surprised me, but I guess it should not consider more how invasive BES...

  • For blackBerry Smartphones SMS senders name is displayed

When I receive text messages only the number is not the name of the sender is shown even if the name is listed in my contacts?

When you receive a call that appears the name of shippers, can anyone help please?

First of all, make sure you have defined country code.  Go to the phone application, click on the button [Menu] (button to the left of the trackball), then select --> Smart Dialing Options and set the country code for your phone number (for an American issue, it is + 1).   If the area code of your phone doesn't require you to dial the area code, you can enter it here too, but in general these days, that you must dial the area code - even for calls within the same area code.

Second, make sure that your contacts have at least the right area code, but it can also ask to have the country code in their mobile number.  I use Outlook, and he puts the phone automatically number by country code according to the format:

    + 1 (555) 555-5555

so all my numbers are formatted like this.   You can get in shape just mobile numbers to operate correctly.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS 'Send' erase my message!

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with my Bold 9780 - whenever I try to send SMS text messages, clears the entry screen and nothing is happening, as if I hit 'clear' instead of sending them. To clarify, I do not see 'pending', 'error', or red 'x' that normally appears when a message is not sent - when I try to send the message that I get no feedback whatsoever, and the message I typed clears. Also, I tried to send the two pressing on enter and also by clicking the menu button and selecting 'send '. There is no chance I'm pressing 'clear', but the behavior seems to indicate that I am.

I did some troubleshooting - verified that all other types of telephone services and messaging function, return the service directories, made a couple of hard reset / battery tire... also, I don't have any installed third-party software in addition to what was delivered on the phone from Rogers.

Any other suggestions before you wipe it and start from scratch?

    Thank you!

I got it working and I wanted to follow in the case where someone reads this thread later.

It seems that the problem was with the policy applied through our BES server. Nothing in the policy looked suspicious to me, but by process of elimination, I found that the policy of "confirm on send ' under 'group policy' was the origin of the problem. It's strange, because it worked before without any problem-, he is suddenly stopped working yesterday afternoon. Once I removed the text "confirm when sending" and disabled this option, the SMS started working normally on all users of this group.

So for any BES admins who see a similar problem, it seems to me that 'confirm when sending' stop SMS to work in the OS6 / 9780 handsets. I hope this helps someone, because it certainly kept me busy for a few hours of troubleshooting!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS message sending error

My ISP changed my phone and my sim card, but I rarely can I send sms messages.  The error message is "Short Message Transfer Rejected".  Why won't?

Via Vodafone eForum, I was told to drop the zero of my phone contacts list.  This solves the problem.  However, the same list of contacts (with leading zeros) worked well for SMS sending on my previous Blackberry 8800.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS questions

Hey I got a problem with my Blackberry bold 9700. There are some messages that end up freezing and I am not able to open. And all the other messages that open, when I send an answer that I see it through and sent, but when I go back to the Inbox my message is no longer visible. Messages are permanently in the gel, and so is my folder. I can't scroll upwards or downwards to display messages. No idea how I can solve this problem. Also, I am very new to the blackberry forum and technologically challenged, so please give advise me and directions in a version "Blackberry for Dummies." Thank you!

First of all, try a reboot simple: with the phone smart BlackBerry turned on, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.

If this does not it, open your Messages folder, press Menu > folders and access your SMS Inbox and delete the history of this user's SMS. Try to do the same thing in the SMS sending for the same user. Now, do a reboot.

    See if that helps.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones cannot send or receive e-mails on my blackberry curve 9320

Hi, for the last 2 days that I couldn't send or receive e-mail on my phone, I contacted vodafone and they were not able to help. Kind regards

Hello and welcome to the community!

With a strong carrier network (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

    1) register HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    2) Remove and return Service books

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    3) restart

    • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
    • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your configurations for the relevant accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider to support formal... consider that you pay for your services and official support and now they seem not to be to deliver. They have even the power to escalate your case officially until BlackBerry if they can't solve it, but you have does them not you fob off the coast with things like "it seems" good on our end... they are responsible for the provision of services to you, you pay for it.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS full Notification - help please

I'm at my wits end with my Blackberry Torch 9810.  I have very little text messages in my Inbox, I lost the lot for some reason my phone has decided to change some date & in the future and trying to resolve that, in my opinion, I wiped everything, do not know what I did a few weeks ago, but they disappeared.

Now I get notifications that my SMS Inbox is full and I need to delete messages.  Can someone help me I have a lot of messages on the handset and cannot believe it is complete unless there is an option I need to select/deselect.  The user guide is useless.

I changed a parameter in the past as text messages seem to be endangered if they were in a month or so old, but all that I did I can't and don't know how to handle all my text messages myself.  My old iphone allowed me to keep the text as long messages I wanted with what appeared to be a very large storage area, now I just want to throw this thing in the bin.  Unfortunately I have 18 months remaining on my contract (business) so I can do nothing about it.

OK, not a lot of people very little. It is in memory of the device, but you are some of the SIM card, save too much.

Then... you must change this setting according to the instructions below.

After his contacts on the PC, I'll make sure that you have installed 4.7 DTM and go to the command line

type: cd c:\program files Research in motion\apploader enter

    type: enter loader.exe /resettofactory

This should remove the policy from IT previous of the device and wipe the device then you can resync everything back to the device.

  • Impossible blackBerry smartphones so send photos to facebook, bbm or via bluetooth.

Help, please! The send option is grayed out or missing, but if I select an old photo options appear

    reme says:
I did that several times but without success

OK, cool. I don't have that.

What else have you done, what else have installed or changed on the aircraft since it was working before. See, I don't know what it is. I try... my ESP is lacking.

What if you look at your camera > menu button > options. Where you save the images?

You have encryption or content protection on your media card that may restrict sending pictures?

To access the option of content Protection on BlackBerry 6, BlackBerry smartphones running, follow these steps:

    1. On the BlackBerry smartphone home screen, click Options.
    2. In the Options menu, go to Security.
    3. In Security , choose the encryption.
    4. Select the check box place a check mark next to encrypt.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS Backup-able?

Hello. I had a BB Bold 9650 for six weeks, and the 'o' key is out.  Verizon sent me a new free, but I have text messages that I really want to keep.  If I do a backup of my phone, which will exclude my texts or is it possible to save them for the transfer?

I am open to any downloadable software, with which I can save my texts.  But I checked my options in the SMS section and the inside of the text itself, and there seems to be no way to save these texts is to the card by e-mail, the PC or the media.

Would appreciate any input from anyone before I go ahead and switch phones.  I have maybe just live without "O" key and keep my existing phone.  Sounds crazy, I know, but I really want to save these.  There should be a way to save and transfer all back to the new, I hope.  Searched the web for two hours looking for it but no luck so far.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

If you are always two devices by hand, then you can use the switch device Wizard:

    • KB16291 How to use the switch device Wizard to switch to a new BlackBerry smartphone

Honestly I don't positive how specifically manages the SMS, but there are sections of your user manual that discussing it... You should also check here.

Also, you can manually back up your SMS database, and then I guess that try to restore:

    • KB03974 List of all databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

  • BlackBerry smartphones can send but not receive messages

Yesterday, I removed my bb bb Enterprise Server for which I will receive is no longer my email of the company. I still have my personal e-mail on the bb configuration and can send, but get no messages. Any ideas that I can do to get them?  all my push settings are enabled.

OK, so who pays for it?

    1. I'll make sure that you have the personal account of BIS activated on your carrier account.

  • BlackBerry & Smartphones Photos Contact names ceased to show (9650)

    Hello:

Earlier, I added photos contact to all my BBerry Contacts.  It worked perfectly for quite a while.

But the last 2 weeks (or more), when I get a call I get no resources and no contact photo.  Just the number, which, if I don't recognize, I'm going to ignore.

(The reason why I have the names and photos is so I don't have to memorize numbers.  )

The contact photos are always in my contacts list, so nothing happened to them.  And ss as much as I know I haven't added new applications.  So I'm puzzled as to why they would suddenly stop showing when I get a call.

Anyone know how I can make them work properly?

I covered this Council and google for an answer and not found anything.  Thank you very much in advance...

    Hello

I would recommend to check if you have encryption enabled on the BlackBerry smartphone or press card. Go to the Options-Security Options. If it is enabled, disable it and try again then take out the battery.

    Thank you

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS TEXT HELP! (and bbm)

My pearl cannot receive new texts.

    It only gets new e-mail...

and unless I have register earlier texts (before this problem happened), all the rest are deleted...

also, my bbm conversations had all been cleaned...

I rebooted my phone from TONS of time... is there a way to reset the phone?

It comes from occurring as you face constraints of memory in your device. The low memory manager (LMM) is activated automatically when the flash available on the BlackBerry smartphone memory decreases less than 400 KB. Flash memory is used to store such as Messages, calendar, Contacts, tasks, Notepad BlackBerry smartphone applications and third-party applications.

    Perform the following steps-

    1. Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30 sec.
    2. Check the amount of memory is free in your device to Options -> status -> free memory. To view all aspects of database go to Option -> status -> click on the Menu button and then select the database size
