No wireless internet with Windows XP

Hello everyone,

I installed Windows XP SP2 on a Toshiba Satellite 300 originally shipped with Vista. I installed the drivers I found on the Web site, including the update of the BIOS that made me screw up everything and me forced to restart from the beginning. There the 2nd time I avoided the update of the BIOS and everything seems to work fine, except that I can not connect to wireless internet.

My suspicion is that I might have missed something. So I would know how you usually do to make a wireless connection. If someone could describe the procedure, it would be a great help.

Thanks in advance,
Mario

Have you updated the WLAN driver?
You can find it on the Toshiba site or portal driver WLAN:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

And you see your router?
You should maybe reboot and disable the security features.

    Hello

Seems that the Wireless does not work on the Dell.

This is the process to try to find what wrong with it.

    ------------------

Assuming that wireless router is configured correctly, it is a signal and the wireless card on the computer is physically in.

    Maybe this can help.

These steps and tell us where is the breaking point.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

To ensure that if there is Wireless Utility a seller is not running with the native Windows wireless utility (Service WLAN).

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Some 3rd AV/Firewall/security software part, s costume keep blocking aspects of Local traffic even it they are off (disabled).

If possible set up the firewall correctly, /Security costume otherwise totally uninstall and get rid of its remaining processes that permit the own local network traffic flow.

If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

party like Hello and NetMagic 3rd network managers can block local traffic too.

Right-click on the wireless network connection card, select status, details and see if she got an IP address and the rest of the settings.

Description is the data of the card making.

The physical address is MAC of the card number.

The xx must be a number between 0 and 255 (all xx even number).

YY should be between 0 and 255

ZZ should be between 0 and 255 (zz all the same number.)

The date of the lease must be valid at the present time.

    Hello

I tried everything above without result.  However, I managed to reinstall my wireless router software after having repaired my DVD driver software.  I restarted my computer and Wireless does not work.  Reinstalled the software new and restarted the computer, and then after a short period of time the computer connected to wireless internet!  Not know not why the remedy has been delayed or why it did not work after the first attempt, but it connects wireless now - what I know is that this problem occurred after an update of Windows, it's a shame that Microsoft failed to address this problem as it was their update it as many other people have also claimed.

  • State of connection system tray icon incorrect or choosing bad network connection when it is connected to the internet with Windows 7.

    Hello people,

My Network icon always shows that I'm connected wireless.

If I disable my wireless, it becomes the symbol of ethernet.

As soon as I turn on my wireless, the wireless icon appears once again!

    I am running Windows 7.

My reports of cable 1 GB/s network

My reports 65 MB/s wireless network

Windows 7 allows you to select the slower wireless network that should not be the case.

Under network connections, select advanced and advanced settings

and change in order to make sure that the connection to the local network was the first.

I've updated my card driver to the latest version of the software. I also uninstalled and reinstalled all network cards with all necessary reboots of the PC.

Under properties of the connection to the network Local and the properties of the wireless connection

I chose properties IPV4 & IPV6, advanced and set the ethernet connection for the metric of the interface of 10 and the wireless to a metric of the interface of 25.

    I did too...

In the device-> network-> adapter Manager Intel Wireless-> properties-> tab power management-> uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Windows always selects the slower network ignoring the manual settings...

He has never done this since yesterday. Please help me.

In short, when the wired connection is used, the ETHERNET ICON must be on the system tray, and not on the Wireless ICON even if both are activated. This was the case for me two days ago.

I don't know what to tell you. In my (wide as technician) experience, when there are two a Wi - Fi and connection the icon always shows the bars wireless.  Your computer seems to be an exception that I can't explain.

    Hello

Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
obstacles in the path? Make sure that the computer is trying to connect to the correct router as there may be
    another strong signal near her.

Other Vista computers? You use the WPA/WPA2 security?

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon. Use a wired connection or download
pilots on another machine and transfer on removable media.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Internet with Windows Mobile, 8 issues

    Hello.

Currently, I get problems with my laptops to connect to my router. It is running Windows 8. Sometimes, when I'm on the internet web stops working. I tried to do a few ping tests and found that packets are lost (50%). I've also updated the wireless adapter drivers

(Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter to version 10.0.0.270). He says that the device is function correctly. However, this is not like all other computers in the House perfectly. Also, I tried the troubleshooting adapter and it is said that he has solved something on an incorrect gateway. I'm not exactly PC wizz but I don't know how to do most of the things!

    Thank you

    Will be

    Hi WillAllen,

I appreciate the steps you tried to solve the problem.

Please answer a few questions to refine the question.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. which antivirus program is installed on the computer?

We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem. The steps described here.

    Method 1:

You can temporarily disable antivirus programs and check the results.

    Caution:

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the network driver and check.

    Step 1: Uninstall the driver

    a. press on the key Windows + R.

    "b. type ' Devmgmt.msc" and press ENTER.

    c. expand network adapters.

    d. right-click on the driver, then select "Uninstall"

    Step 2: Reinstall the driver

You can download and install the network driver manually on the manufacturer's Web site and check for the issue.
