Noise level of the fan prior to P900

I have a suspicion that one of the front fans of my P900 is slightly out of balance and therefore generate a very annoying buzzing, which is then amplified by the whole thing.

Is the fan HDD bay behind the ThinkStation (04 X 2401) logo. When you start the machine the front fan in question generates a bit of noise. Everyone's first reaction was "is the device that was taking off?" :-D But as this happens only during POST, I learned to live with it.

This is not new. It has been like that since I was the machine in November 2014. I assumed that it is normal that he is so strong, particularly during the POST.

Today, I was busy repairing various rattles in the back of the case (the mesh plastic sit very tight against metal and it vibrates when accelerates the rear fan). During this operation, I discovered that between the two front fan, there is a difference of up to 3 - 4 DB during the measurement of noise at 1 "on the front of the case.

I have no hard drives inside the case, only the SSD and graphics card fans were not spinning at the time of the measurement.

Then, before I turn to the local dealer for a new fan, I wanted to just check if it is actually a problem. Would this problem still covered by the standard warranty of 3 years, as the fan is still running?

Looks like you already have a good amount of troubleshooting. My only suggestion to exclude variables would be to swap the two HARD-drive Bay fans and see if the noise follows the fan or location. If it follows the location then this is a function of the program fan controller running this fan faster (generally taken into account devices installed in the lower air channel). But if it follows the fan itself while fan could indeed be bad.

A fan bearing may go wrong, even if it still turns. This is usually what happens with most outages of fan in any case.

If the front fan has indeed failed to the point of making noise then it would have been covered by the warranty. I can't speak for how Lenovo NL covers guarantee to the United States (and those of us participating here only know the U.S. market), but fans should be standard spare parts worldwide.

  • Strange noise coming from the fan on Satellite P100

My Satellite P100 just makes a noise like a seriously heavy drill. Nothing else happened significantly so I turned off immediately and left for an hour or so overheating had the broken fan.
Now back on and everything seems fine, but I'm worried. Is there something that can explain this? I got 5 interviews next week for which I use the laptop to prepare a presentation and I do not want to fail on me at the last minute...

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hello

that could be an object (something really little) is/was blocked in your FAN and is now gone. If this would be a problem of turnover so the fan would still some strange noises.

I suggest you do the following: use your machine as usual and if noise appears again then ask a technician to clean the fan/ventilation system. I Don t think it s some malfunction of the equipment.

  • Satellite U405d-s2850 - noise coming from the fan high pitch

I bought my computer laptop 2nd Friday last for the school. I bought it at Costco after comparing with some other laptops.
I like it so far, it is a tone high from the fan noise. First I thought it was my ear, but it wasn't. This high pitch noise is so darn high, it makes me crazy.

This means, there is something wrong with this laptop?
Or am I just darn sensitive?
My other laptop Toshiba is very good. It's just this new laptop!
    Help!

Should I return this laptop and get a new one or is it normal?

    Hello

Are you sure that this noise is coming from the cooling module?
Usually, it is really hard to say what causes these sounds of high pitch without disassembling the whole laptop and check the single parts.

    > This means, there is something wrong with this laptop?
To be honest, I never noticed the sounds of high pitch on my three different notebooks.
So I guess there might be something wrong with the single computer laptop part.

So if you aren't really sure what causes this noise of high tone, then I recommend contacting ASP in your country for and verification of the laptop.

  • Problem setting up star with noise + levels to the hi res

It's something that I've never met... I tried all sorts of methods of fixing the problem, but nothing helped.

First of all, I see a 24 "x 36", 150 DPI displays. There is a part of the poster where I want to create the illusion of space and stars. Easy enough, just to make a new layer, fill it with black, add a levels adjustment layer, adjust the black and white sliders and voila, stars...

    I took a 12.5% zoom screenshot: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...eenshot6-1.png
It looks exactly how I like my poster to watch.

BUT, when all zooms in further, more noise starts to become visible for some reason any...

    Here are some examples:

    16.7%: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...eenshot9-1.png

    33%: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...enshot10-1.png

    66.7%: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...enshot11-2.png

    and finally, 100%: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...enshot12-1.png

They are all with the same levels, you mind. Everything I do is zoom in a little each time.

As you can see, none of these looks a lot like the interpretation of 12.5%, I linked at the beginning. It is mind-boggling to me. Am I missing something?

Basically, my technique to create the stars deploys a new layer, filling black, add some noise (amount: 110%, Distribution: Gaussian, monochrome: checked), new levels adjustment layer, adjust the black and white sliders... and that's all.

Specification of your computer, just in case:
    MacBook Pro (Intel)
Adobe CS4 Master Collection (Photoshop CS4 specifically in this case.)

Sorry for the long post, it's sort of difficult to describe without being in front of someone. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you may have.

The blur of the image by using a Blur Gaussian after creating noise, but before adjusting levels.

If you preview your image at 100% view while you perform your settings of levels, you will see how, nothing is really happening. It is a glitch preview which lets you think that levels affect the image. If the blur of the image, you should see the levels settings actually affect anything other than the preview.

  • Satellite A350 - the noise of the fan is not quite

    Hello!

I bought the A350, overnight last week. I noticed that the fan can be quite noisy at times.

When I run programs of low demand or when the computer is idle, I noticed that the fans have become really noise every minute or so for about 20 seconds. It is certainly not quiet when it lights. When I run intensive programs, such as games apps, the fan seems to be constantly, that makes sense.

My main problem is the amount of noise coming from the fan. Anyone has solutions or ideas on how I could continue on the reduction of noise from fans? Does anyone have a similar experience with this laptop? I hope that it is as simple as changing a parameter, or something. As it is, I can never use that laptop to work due to the amount of noise coming from the fan. Sporadic nature doesn't help either.

I would appreciate any help with this issue.

    Sam

    Hello!

I think that it is normal that the fan is constantly on when you run intensive programs like games. Here, you will get a 100% CPU usage and it is normal that the CPU produces heat loss.

And if I surf in the Internet, the fan works often but at the lowest level and makes a lot of noise.

However, I think that it is not a problem, but if you do not accept this, go to a local ASP. They can check the fan and say what's right and wrong.

    Good bye

  • Over the noise of the fan after upgrade SC8000 to 6.5.30...

Curious to know if anyone noticed an increase in the cooling fan noise level after the upgrade of their SC8000 to 6.5.30?  Updated during the weekend and controllers generally increase speeds of the fan during the startup, then settle down. After the upgrade, we do not have seems to settle into their previous volume.  CPU usage seems normal and systems running OK, we just want to make sure that there isn't something else causing the extra fan speed.

    Thank you.

Yes, it's something they did on purpose. In my view, there is a that'S on it. I would like a link to it, but I'm on my moblile. You should be able to find it in the Knowledge Center.

  • Noise level

    Hello.

I just ordered a new series of HP Touchsmart 610 Pc and I was wondering if

Anyone know what love him ""Noise level"on the machine was like silent or not, I have"

He got several fans and a spinning hard drive, it's certainly not silent.

  • Satellite Pro U300 PSU31E - two how to adjust the fan speed

While using the laptop the fan comes in for a few seconds and then stops again, which causes the temperature
    increase... what makes the fan?
Throttle upward rather than stay in a slow to medium status.

I'm running Vista Business, but I did ' t find the parameters in this regard.

In the ACPI BIOS is not accessible, but as already posted my problem looks a bit like this:

Re: ACPI fan on Satellite L30
    Posted the: 13-Sep-2007 22:08 reply

The fan goes in cycles like this:
    ------------------
    Less than 50, fan
When > 55, fan to full
    When< 55,="" fan="" on="">
    When< 50,="" fan="" off="">
    and it continues

    ------------------

It would be much better than when he went to more than 50 years she just spend on bass, then
It would never reach 55 and never go up.
And the laptop would be 100 x more silent.

Another thing: the Germany from Toshiba support page won't load at all or is the global page
very slow, using different locations and conections. That I can not retrieve all the information to help me.
And I do not think the University backbone or my DSL 6 Mbps at home is the problem

    Hello

The fans begin to turn only if a certain temperature point has been reached.
These fan table information is stored in the BIOS and cannot be changed.

Some computers laptops satellite supports an additional option in the Toshiba HWSetup. It allows to change the CPU dynamically switchable or always low frequency mode.
This would set the temperature to a lower level and the fans would lead occasionally.

In any case, to my knowledge, this option is not available in the Toshiba HWSetup and not in the BIOS so I guess that it s not possible to control fan behavior.

By the way; If you wish, you can test a tool like aSpeedFanfreeware.
This program can control the speed of the fans according to the temperatures of the system.
Maybe it will work on your Satellite Pro U300

  • Satellite C660 - 1 HL: how to reduce the fan noise?

After buying the C660 (1 HL) I'm especially glad of his duties - if it was the bad noise it emits.

I use laptops for 12 years, but this one is really annoying with every minute repeated with penetration hum of a fan, even if the laptop is in sleep mode.

I compared with a C650, who is often quiet and his fan, if being run, does not cause that kind of noise.
So far I found any kind of control for the fan, no driver or powermanagement setting, that I had before for example with a Satellite M70.

I always thought, technological development will bring improvements, but not the trouble of this kind.

Thanks for the tips of any solution

  • Satellite L650 1NC - the fan noise

I bought the laptop in February 2011 and the fan noise deteriorated over time, now. I've read many threads in this forum and elsewhere about this problem and I think that the problems are basically the same.

Now that I've read some that messages stating that the new BIOS, released in September have apparently solved the problem, I did a BIOS update (Version 2.3) to meet the same problem again.

The fan stops when the temperature is below a certain threshold, in my case according to CoreTemp it seems to be at about 50-55 ° C. At the moment the fan turns off, which is also confirmed by the monitor of health indicating the 0% fan speed.
This leads to the CPU temperature increases until the fan is used to about 55-60% fanspeed.
This process repeats every 15-20 seconds and is very annoying.

It gets worse, but if I start to actually do something like a request to open from the web browser - nothing serious, really, I don't want to start even complain about the noise while game/watch movies.
The fan speed will be 70-75% as soon as the CPU gets the work to be done.
The noise that results is unacceptable for 20-30 seconds.

Noise is an important factor for me. At the University I can't use it as my fellow students are too distracted by its noise. To work my colleagues began to complain as well.
As I use my cell phone while being out of my own office/home it is basically useless for me now.

Has anyone else still issues after the recent updates to the BIOS?
Is there a way to put the fan always runs at around 30-40%?

    All opinions are appreciated.

    Hello

Cooling module performance depend on the internal temperature.
If the temperature arise at a higher level, the fan must turn more quickly to prevent equipment overheating it's usual behavior.

But you can try to change some Windows 7 power management settings.
This will reduce the performance of the CPU and the dissipation of the heat and that should slow down the activity of the fan too.

Here is instruction how to change the Windows 7 power management.

  • Satellite L500 and the noise of the fan

Last week, I bought a new laptop Satellite L 500 with Inter i3 processor, 1 GB, 4 GB of ram ATI graphics card, etc.
Everything is OK in general, however, I think the fan is very noisy.

I used to own a HP Pavilion laptop and could hardly notice the fan while with my new laptop, the noise of the fan is really loud.
Does anyone know if this is normal or if it could be fixed somehow?

I did some internet research for a solution, but I couldn't find anything, and apparently nobody complains noise from the fan on L 500 computers portable so maybe it's only me that have this problem?

    Thank you.

  • Why the FAN always ON the 2nd level - Toshiba Tablet R20-112?

    Hello
I wonder why the FAN on CORE 2 DUO T5600 1.8 still working on 2nd level
Although I watch the movie or listen to music on Winamp when the processor is enabled in the lowest power manager.
Sometimes when I work only with battery fan goes to level 1, very quiet, but only when the Core2Duo have nothing to do, when I turn for example winamp or internal search FAN runs at the 2nd level, much more noise. The air coming out of the fan he has about 31' C.
I have the most recent bios on this subject. I tried to turn the processor low always, but without effect.

The battery remains 4 hours as it usually must (4700mAh), 02:30-3 hours on economy mode max.

Is it possible to change that affect of perhaps of witch fan noisy most energy?

    Best regards

    Hello

In my view, there is a similar situation as the Portege M400 (also tablet PC). The cooling fan runs almost constantly. Toshiba has designed the special version of BIOS and after update the laptop BIOS works silently. Maybe something like this will be for Satellite R20 but at the moment it is no things to do. You can only reduce the performance of the processor.

Sorry but I do not see a solution for this. I can't tell you that but 4 hours on battery battery operation time is for me absolutely unrealistic. I have Tecra business notebook. Energy consumption is really minimal, and I can't work more than 3 hours.
