  • iTunes error: the library iTune .itl file is locked. On a locked disk or you do not write to this file permission

    Original title: iTunes

I have just updated from XP to 7. I downloaded Windows Easy Transfer, but it wouldn't work if I copied all my files on my external drive myself.

Once Windows 7 had loaded, I started to transfer them to my computer.

I tried just down load iTunes 10.1.1 from the internet, and everything seemed to go ok.

But iTunes is not working and I get the following message "the library iTune .itl file is locked. "On a locked disk or youdo not write permissionfor this file."

I saw this message on iTunes support and it is said that the 'My music' folder is located in the default location in Windows XP.

Does that mean I lost my music and what should I do to be able to access/download the iTunes player.

I have songs on different drives so I have quite lost music. I am simply unable to play my iTunes library because I can't access the drive.

    Thank you.

P.s. I'm not very good with computers.

  • Empty and closed iTunes library iTunes Library.itl file.

Every time I open iTunes, my library is empty.
I ve already tried to open iTunes, all holding the SHIFT key, but not matter which library I get, iTunes opens always empty.
After trying that, I started to look around for other ways to recover from my library. People told me to uncheck the 'read only' to my iTunes folder. I did, but I received a message stating that the iTunes Library.itl file was locked and I had no access. I clicked on 'ignore' and uncheck the rest of the files and folders have given no problem.
I then examined the .itl file, the read-only box was not checked, to my surprise. However, the option of archiving, a. But because the file is locked, I couldn't change a thing.
After that, I read about "unlocker", I downloaded then, but that has not changed a thing either.
Also, when I checked the iTunes folder earlier, the read-only option was checked again!
I hope someone here can solve my problem, because I have really no idea how solve it on my own now.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Cannot move iTunes library.itl on the desktop

When I turned on my PC today, I found all my iTunes library has been deleted no aparent reason.

Fortunately, I had saved a copy of the library and all the playlists in my hard drive, but in any case whenever I open iTunes, now it says that the library is corrupted, so I have to import the saved old library every time. My music is not lost, but it's annoying to do this, of course.

So I read Apple's Support article on the recovery of the iTunes library, and I tried to follow the steps but when I come to step "Drag the iTunes Library.itl file to your desktop", an error (I'll try to translate it because my computer is in Spanish, it may not be the exact words) :

"This file cant't be moved due to an unexpected error." If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to get help for this problem.

Error 0 x 80070570: the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable. »

How may I order? I know the other option is to delete it, but I can't do either.

It is without saying I have not iTunes open when I do this task, of course.
Also, I looked at the error, but Microsoft did not have an appropriate response. He asked me if I tried to change the directory of the file, but I'm afraid I don't know how to do it.

My operating system is Windows 7

    Any help is appreciated, thanks

  • How to get around a fake "cannot read itunes library.itl?

I have a Windows 7 laptop I want to back up the same on a Windows laptop 8.  Should I bring all the files on the Windows 7 laptop to Windows 8 laptop computer including my music/itunes and program/itunes files.  It has worked for years.  All of a sudden I get a message when you go to itunes on the laptop computer of Windows 8 that say 'cannot read itunes library.itl because it was created by a different version.'  This is different from the case referred to the support forum where people want to deliberately use an earlier version of itunes.  I want to use on the laptop Windows 7 and Windows 8 for the latest version of itune laptop.  To make sure that I have request for updates on two laptops from itunes and received responses that I already have the latest version installed on two laptops.  I can access itunes on the Windows 7 laptop, but not Windows Mobile, 8.  How to get around this indication false error on my laptop Windows 8?   I have the latest version and the itunes and all files have been created using the most recent version.

You have identical versions of iTunes on both machines?  The two latest updates of iTunes (12.3.3, 12.4.0) have included both updates of database for the latest library files can only be read by older versions.

How are you "Portage" your library data?  The error message may indicate a corrupt library file.

Also note that you should not try to replicate the folder iTunes program between computers - there is a high risk that the results will be unpredictable, especially since you're moving between two different editions of Windows.  There is really no need to do this - there is no data stored within the hierarchy of program files, who wanted to be replicated on several PC.
