None of my files will open

I deleted some toolbars and now none of my files opens. A box appears and says windows cannot open the file, and you must know what type of program created the file. System Restore did not work. Without file extensions will be opened. Help, please!

Done began just after the removal of these toolbars?

I went back to an old project Adobe Illustrator I have not opened for years but suddenly need to recovery. To my horror, I discovered that I can not open ONE of these old files HAVE. Hi everyone who responded, or interested:

I think I found the fix, courtesy of the Mac guru at the University where I teach. If I just add the suffix .ai on behalf of all of my files, they instantly change to read Adobe Illustrator files! Couldn't be simpler, although it raises a question. These files will open very well without needing to be done with the file at the end of each title designations. Now, suddenly, they need ".ai" after them to open properly. Well. At least, I have a solution to this problem.  Thanks for all the good advice!

  • CS1 files will open in the later versions of CS, such as CS4 and 5?

I'm still working in CS1, but becomes nervous about the March of time with Creative Suite. I don't know if future versions of the CS will be open my files, in particular Photoshop and InDesign files. I'll appreciate sincerely any info on this.

I have a mac G5 running Tiger. (I realize I cannot use CS5 with it, but I'm always interested to know if my files would be toast with CS5 or feasible if I had a Mac Intel.)

Yes, these files will open in the new versions of the same applications.

It's extremely likely that your computer is clean and who knows what you deleted in the registry. The most practical thing and time-effective to do would be to backup your data and do a clean install of Windows. If you don't want to do that, then either mail to one of the following specialized forums take your computer to a qualified local professional GOLD. • None of my programs will open or run, cannot run the files downloaded from the internet, either to try to resolve it.

I am running windows XP Pro and am unable to open any programs at all.  I was uninstalling some programs add and remove applications in Control Panel and I think I deleted a necessary program, file or something because right afterwards none of files or programs would be open. I get the error the file extension that is not associated with this file. I can't open the system restore program to restore the computer to an earlier configuration. I tried to get a regestry cleaner to fix regestery errors, but none of those I work. I am able to get on the internet and e-mail but am afraid the computer because it cannot be started again. I tried to load a regestery cleaner from the internet but nothing will load or run it. Help!  I also tried to change the program that opens files, but went wrong, and now all files are associated with windows internet explorer 8. I have no idea how I did all this and come back to this computer from the place of the computer because the old hard drive died on me and they put in another. It was working fine until I felt the need to clear up disk space and delete some old programs. I'm sure I messed up and deleted a file that was necessary to open others. I don't have the XP disk to try a fix and nothing in the pages of microsoft download will run. Oh please I don't want to take that back to the computer type that will charge me an arm and a leg. I just made him pay $ 200 last week. Any help will be great.

  • All my .exe files will open in the same program, how can I solve this problem?

I double clicked a .exe program and she appeared with an error saying that it was not a correct path, so I right click on it hung over 'Open with' clicked "choose program by default" found and selected it clicked OK, and I don't see the "Always" use the selected program to open this type of file until after I clicked OK , but now all my .exe programs open the same and the .exe .lnk changed, I was about to restore my computer to the previous version, but none of them go back far enough, what should I do to cancel the default program?

Darn, I was hoping that the registry itself would correct after a reboot. I always try to this for you. Following is a somewhat similar to what was posted by hetti:

However, this does not mean you're going to in the registry. You create a file that will do the registry work for you. According to this link, the fixittool only works for Vista.

    Hello

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

This problem may occur when you accidentally change parameters of type for the file .exe in Folder Options. Sometimes it can happen because of the virus also.

    Method 1:
I suggest you try the procedure described in the link and check if it helps.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Warning: If you run the antivirus program that is infected by the virus scan will get deleted. Therefore, reinstall the program. Also, if files and folders are affected by the virus, while they might even get deleted.

  • the Telegraph .uk (for example) Web site opens, but none of the articles will open

I have sent the last site of Telegraph from my windows live mail account. The site comes back (open) okay but when I click on different articles, none of them opens - the circle going round and round and round.
There is nothing wrong with the site; I opened the site with another computer (which also uses Mozilla) and the individal articles open in a Flash.

I solved this problem by reinstalling firefox

  • No .exe file will open.

My friend's computer had a virus pop up. I used malwarebytes to remove it. Everything is normal, except that every time I try to open a program with the .exe, windows says "what program you want to use to open this file? For example when I try to open internet explorer, I get this message, then a list of programs of your choice. I choose internet Explorer in the list, and then I get the dialog box that says: "do you want to run or save this file?" (iexplorer.exe). I click on run, and I get the message "this program would you use to open this file?" again, goes in a cycle. The computer is a fairly old Dell, but it is not getting used a lot except for facebook, and probably _ (where the constant malware it gets).

Hey got a fix. I used a .reg file to the executable fix. Save ALL text below in a .txt file, then change to. Reg. name it whatever you like and add to the registry:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe]
    [- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile]
    [- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile]
    [- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
    @="\"%1\" %*"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
    @= "exefile".
    "Content Type"="application/x-msdownload".
