Normalize the input of query string to something intelligible

I had a request for assistance since Friday on this, but since it is not answered yet, let's try your collective wisdom of the TopLiners to determine if I even do it properly!

I have the URL with an assetid in the query string, which is a number. As well as this engage.companyname.com/landingpage?assetid=1

Each number corresponds to a document in our download library. It is all together to dish up the correct asset and write an object (many - to a single contact) data indicating that the download happened. He writes assetid (number) on the data card.

I wanted to be able to have something intelligible on the map data for a number of reasons. So I created an updated rule set where for each assetid, an asset name is written in the name field of the property (on the data object).

I implemented a simple program in builder program to assess the totality of data objects and run this update rule set. But it does not work.

So somewhere along the way I've done something wrong or missed a step (I have this puzzled through with TopLiners and EU documentation) or I am barking the wrong tree.

I'll probably need to wait for support to come thanks to deconstruct what happened - but how I YOU think you?

BTW, this program will do much more for data eventually cards but let's start first

Here is the first part of the record, I have received support. I knew that the documentation followed before missing a bond - but only you know what you know, right?

Thank you to contact Oracle Eloqua customer service, thank you for your business. I see you are trying to update the contacts with details of the documents that they have accessed (code of asset and asset name of the document) using of data maps and update rules. To start to help you, I want to confirm the problem you are experiencing. The specific part of the configuration that does not work, it is where you want your data cards to be updated with the name of the active partner when an asset what ID is added to data cards. Is this correct?

I looked in the settings of your configuration and found that the way in which the affected step is configured does not update data cards. You currently have your updated program of the contacts, but he must update data cards and cannot access it with the current settings.

To resolve this issue, please complete the following:

Step 1: In your custom document library object, at the top right of the page click on custom object and select custom object Record Services. In the Custom Object Services window, click the arrow next to new data and select Edit the Actions of Service. In the edit the Actions of Service window, in the lower right corner, select Add processing steps.

Step 2: In the window add a processing step, set the option Add a single processing step, by selecting Add to step in the program under the drop down list generator step. Click Add at the bottom right.

Step 3: In the window new stages of treatment, under required parameters select the records of custom in the drop-down list object value. Then under Conditional settings, click on the search button program step next to the value field. In generator research program window, locate the 001. Standardize step name asset in your program via the search by name of the step or the name of the program. Select it and click Ok. In the window of new stages of treatment, under this treatment step is executed, select always. Click on save and close. You can now close the popup windows.

The program should now be configured to update data with your active names cards using the conditions in your update rule. The next document in Topliners shows the screenshots to help you: http://topliners.eloqua.com/community/do_it/blog/2014/07/29/how-to-feed-custom-object-records-into-a-program

After that I did these things, he still doesn't. Then they gave me this piece:

I checked the settings that you have configured, and I saw that the stage of registration service custom object itself was not activated.

To resolve this problem, open the custom of the document library object and open object custom registration Services. Then, click the down arrow next to new data and select activate the personal Service Record object. Shipments of new form must now update as you wish.

To update existing records of custom object, please complete the following:

Step 1: You must also configure the data service option changed with same parameters provided in the previous note and activate the service as explained above.

Step 2: Then to process the records, in your custom object click Reporting at the top right of the page and select custom object records the data. In the data window of the custom object in the top left corner, click Actions and select check all records. Click export, and then select export to Excel to save an Excel document to use for re - download.

Step 3: Return to the home page of your custom object, click on custom object in the top right of the page and select Download custom Object Records. Enter a descriptive name for the download and click Next. Click Browse and select the saved Excel file. Click on Upload and preview the data, and then click Next. Under field mappings, click automatic mapping fields to pre-populate the target fields and make changes if necessary, and then click Next. Click the checkbox for map data cards and under Add data at the stage of program entries, use the program generator search to search for and select 001. Standardize asset name then click OK and next.

Step 4: If you want to reuse these settings later, under download select store these settings for re - use and enter a descriptive name for the saved settings file. Otherwise just click Finish. Your existing data maps should show active names within 30 minutes (which allows to program the durations of treatment).

These steps will run maps of existing data through the update rule. If it still does not work, you will have to call for Support for further assistance via a screen sharing session. The phone for each region contact information can be found on our page please contact us at: http://www.eloqua.com/contact-us.html

at that time, I saw him work. So excited! As I started to move my test scenario to production, it broke again. Sigh. Oh wouldn't it be nice if test/production in Eloqua was not quite as painful?

  • Eloqua reporting: what is the difference between 'Link clicks' and 'interactive generated query string value "?

    clicks.png

    Sometimes, I need to look at the link clicks in order to determine what link they clicked and sometimes the value of query string. What is the difference?

    Redirect link is the actual URL that redirects to a specific Web site location.

    Value of query string of clicks is what follows after the "?" in the link. These query strings do not change the location where the user is directed to but is for information purposes.

    If you were to combine interactive generated link and the value of clicks query string, you will get the full link following the user.

    Example: In your screenshot, for the first row in the report, the user would have followed this link:

    https://play.Google.com/store/apps/details?ID=no.osloby.app

    The report broke it into 2 parts: clicks link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details) and the value of query string of clicks (? id = no.osloby.app).

    You can create custom query strings under configuration > site: query strings. This can be useful if you want to create your own way to mark up and view metrics on clicks for links. When you define a query string parameter, you can add this setting with different values at the end of the links to follow only those (ex: "?") QueryStringParam = value1'). I used this is to differentiate between separate instances of identical links in the same email (ex: a link is a banner image and text) to see who is the most useful and results in the most traffic. You can then view a breakdown of clicks by each query string under Insight > reports and dashboards > site > overview of Query String parameters.

  • Dissect of Eloqua own AdWords Landing Page and URL with query string parameters, please!

    I presume that for AdWords landing pages are one of the most common types in use. I'm at a new company and try to create an approach that uses the latest methods. HAFS is gradually, and a large part of the information contained in the Topliners is old (2011) as these popular posts

    I started to look at what Eloqua uses in its own marketing efforts and saw the potentially useful parts and parts that are confusing. I thought it would be useful if someone could dissect the code of the landing page and explain how each part of the code is. I'm OK with short descriptions and references to other articles or messages to explain the different parts that have not changed.

    Here are some specific questions that I hope can be answered:

    • What you rely on Google to deliver you in their reports vs. what you capture discrete parameters: elqoffer, GoogleCampaign and sls
    • You use the gclid itself? How?
    • Is there a new better method for parsing of URLS and using hidden fields settings?
    • How do you use Eloqua cookies at the same time to send the form of Adwords?
    • You dynamically change the landing page?

    Thank you!

    Hi Mike,.

    I'm on the Ops of Eloqua Marketing team and can shed light on some of your questions.  I hope this helps!

    • What you rely on Google to deliver you in their reports vs. what you capture discrete parameters: elqoffer, GoogleCampaign and sls

    • elqoffer - we use elqoffer to indicate that the offer is valid for adword.  The value we deliver is used for many things.  Of course, we use it for reporting purposes, but we also set up our steps to use this value in a hidden field to redirect to the appropriate page supply once the form and also send the appropriate autoresponder of form processing.  We set up a dropdown list (aka select list) cards offer URL values (for the page of the offer) and another list of choices cards offer values to email ID (for the answering machine).
    • elqchannel - we also usually include a query string for the elqchannel who tells us the General source of the Contact (e.g. Google, Bing, etc.).
    • SLS - is essentially the Source of lead (sls = source of specific lead).  We use it to fill a hidden fields that reach "lead Source - Original" and 'Lead Source - the most recent'.  For us, the source of the specific lead is a very granular (and non-General, such as 'research') but includes a lot of information based on a strict naming convention.
    • That's what we use Eloqua to adwords, but we also use an SEO company to help us optimize our search spend.  To do this, they provide their own tracking code we put on the landing page initial as well as the page of the offer (ie. confirmation page).  To get the code on our LP, we use the cloud "Static content" component that allows you to place any custom code you want in the body of the HTML code.  Unfortunately, I don't have details on what exactly is captured with this code, or how it is used.
  • You use the gclid itself? How?
    • I don't know the answer to this one.  It's someone else on our team that works closely with an SEO company, so I think they know.
  • Is there a new better method for parsing of URLS and using hidden fields settings?
    • YES!  You may have noticed, we have some Javascript on our landing page that does a few things.  First of all, he did a Web data search in Eloqua to see if you are a known visitor and if so, we can pre-fill the form with information we already know the visitor.  The other thing is the JS is populate our hidden fields with the values of query string.  We started to do this before I had a cloud component that eliminates the need for JS custom.  You can use Form Population App to do all that for you.
  • How do you use Eloqua cookies at the same time to send the form of Adwords?
    • I'm not 100% sure I know what you're asking here, but my answer to the previous question can also respond to this one.  Data search Web first checks the Eloqua cookie to retrieve your email address, and then it uses this email address to search for your Contact field values and pre-fill the form.
  • You dynamically change the landing page?
    • We're not changing dynamically the landing page.  Usually, a visitor to click through to an Eloqua email or visit a page PURL.  Dynamically present the offer page based on the value of the query string for "elqoffer."  Looking for an application Cloud released in the coming days that will allow you to place the dynamic content on this initial landing page based on your cookie.
  • The way we structure our campaigns is based on the balance between reporting requirements while maintaining their operational efficiency.  For example, we do want to create a new campaign for each offer that we have.  That would quickly overwhelm our team.  For 2013, we have created 3 campaigns:

    1 research

    2. 3rd party Emails

    3 display ads

    Each of these campaigns have only 1 formula on it (one for research, one for email and display ads).  Each offer has its own landing page (see screenshot below).  The campaign of the report combined with the data of the form layout give us the requirements we need to understand what is working and what is not.

    TIP: If you have custom data objects, you can also consider creating one that seizes all shipments form for each of your forms in 1 place.  This way, you need only 1 set of data instead of individual export for each form of export.

    Example of a search campaign:

    If you need to make reference to a page element in the block then you can use this type of control to avoid having to use generic column names:

    if apex_application.get_current_flow_sgid(:APP_ID) = apex_application.get_sgid then-- runtime  :P9_SQL := vSQL;else-- design time  null;end if;

    But if all you want to do is capture the SQL debugging you can take all the references element in the block and use the insert statement (in a debug table) as I showed earlier.

    Use the search and replace the string to replace your 'exclusive' with an empty string string.  Use the length of the string on the result string.  Make sure that everything is already set to TRUE.

  • Extract the subset of data in the query string

    Hi all

    I am using query strings in Eloqua for some time and found the implementation of them quite simple. I recently ran well across a scenario where it is not set up as a standard string.

    The URL ends up looking like this:

    http://Sub.domain.com/LP=123/?var=AB-business-_-AB-BusinessAB-_-TRK1AB23_hm_comp2-e_abcdefg_s

    The 'TRK1AB23' is the component I want to extract and place in a field.

    When I use the following code, I find myself everything of value, I want to pull all the way to the end of the string. What should I do to this code to retrieve only the characters that I need?

    function getQueryStringParamValue (strQStrParam) {}

    strURL var = document.location.href;

    var strQStrParamValue = "";

    If (strURL.indexOf('?')! = - 1) {}

    strQStrParamValue = strURL.substr (strURL.indexOf('?') + 1);

    If (strQStrParamValue.indexOf (strQStrParam)! = - 1) {}

    strQStrParamValue = strQStrParamValue.substr (strQStrParamValue.indexOf (strQStrParam));

    strQStrParamValue = strQStrParamValue.substr (strQStrParamValue.indexOf ('TRK') + 1);

    If (strQStrParamValue.indexOf('&')! = - 1) strQStrParamValue = strQStrParamValue.substr (0, strQStrParamValue.indexOf ('&'));

    Return strQStrParamValue;

    } else {}

    strQStrParamValue = defaultHiddenFieldNameValue;

    Return strQStrParamValue;

    }

    } else {}

    strQStrParamValue = defaultHiddenFieldNameValue;

    Return strQStrParamValue;

    }

    }

    Insert here the name of the form

    var form = 'generic ';

    function setCampaign() {}

    var elqForm = return [form];

    Repeat for each field to be completed

    elqForm.elements ['singleLineText'] .value = getQueryStringParamValue ('var');

    }

    Window.OnLoad = setCampaign;

    < /script >

    Egan,

    Your answer actually has helped me tremendously. I learned to look closer the code and found that it was an option of substring. I changed the substring to look at the first three characters of the code (which are always consistent) and then adjusted to shoot only the eight characters containing the code.

    It is not the prettiest or most appropriate code but it does exactly what I need to!

  • You can control a URL in eloqua to add to the query string?

    If I insert a URL in an email, I can't stop eloqua to add additional query string parameters in eloqua.

    I want to make this happen because the URL doesn't seem to work if we add an extra parameter using the query string.

  • How to use the input as VC Atttibutes string?

    Hello everyone,

    I'm discovering VCO. And I need your help.

    How can I use input string as a VC attributes at the end? Then, use this return as input for another workflow.

    The workflow that I am putting in place is:

    1-name of the VM to search in vCenter: input String (example: 'TOTO')

    2-search 'TOTO' virtual machine in the vCenter, if found then

    3 - use this result to clone a VM TOTO

    For stage 1 and 2, it works, I can search based on the input of the chain and get a result.

    But for step 3, I use another workflow 'Create virtual machine' and we must put a VC:VirtualMachine.

    And it does not work because the type I get to step 2 is not compatible with the entry for step 3.

    Progressive input signal 3 waiting for VC:VirtualMachine

    And the output of step 2 is the table / VC:VirtualMachine.

    I tried to change the input type for step 3 as table / VC:VirtualMachine.

    Whenever I got the error message:

    TypeError: Cannot find the cloneVM_Task function in the DynamicWrapper (Instance) subject: [VcVirtualMachine]-[class com.vmware.vmo.plugin.vi4.model.VimVirtualMachine] - VALUE: VirtualMachine, vm-907 > "LYNC01." (Name of the dynamic Script Module: cloneVM_1 #13)

    I don't want the workflow using the VC search plugin, but I need to set the input parameter.

    If someone has an idea.

    Thank you all.

    Keep the entry for step 3 as VcVirtualmachine (only one), but add an extra step:

    2.5: get the first (or last, should not question: I hope that you will find only one :-)) table.)

    You can do it in Javascript, using the method. pop() from an array.

    var sourceVM = foundVMs.pop () / / sourceVM is of type VcVirtualMachine, foundVMs table/VcVirtualMachine

    See you soon,.
