  • I want to get Norton AntiVirus Toolbar for Firefox 17.1. Does anyone know IF or WHEN this is possible?

I just downloaded the latest version of Firefox - 17.01.4715 - but now my Norton Antivirus toolbar no longer appears. I've updated everything, etc.but, people of Norton told me I have to get back to 16 Firefox toolbar to work. This is unacceptable. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Or when Norton will get off their royal butt and update their toolbar is compatible?

If you use Norton 1012 then you should do Norton liveupdate support Firefox 17

Norton has actually be pretty good in having a update for a new major version of Firefox the same day or within a few days since Firefox 5.0. However, Norton will be screwing Firefox users when Firefox 18.0 comes out as needed to update then 2013 Norton.

If you need antivirus protection Thomas Reed recommends to use ClamXAV. (Thanks to Thomas Reed to this recommendation.) You might consider adding this Safari extensions: Adblock Plus 1.8.9.

Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click the Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If it stops your problem, then re-enable one by one until the problem returns. Now remove this extension as it is the origin of the problem.

The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.

Difficulty of pop-ups in browser that support Safari.

Common pop - ups include a message saying that the Government has taken over your computer and you pay release (often called "Moneypak"), or a false message saying that your computer has been infected and you need to call a number of tech support (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it to be resolved. First of all, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and that your computer has not been assigned. This "hack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so don't pay not money, call number, or provide personal information. This article will give an overview of the solution to remove the pop-up window.

    Quit Safari

Usually, these pop-ups will not go by clicking 'OK' or 'Cancel '. In addition, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in grey, including the option to leave Safari. You'll probably force quit Safari. To do this, press command + option + ESC, select Safari, press on force quit.

    Relaunch Safari

If you restart Safari, the page will reopen. To avoid this, hold the "Shift" key when opening Safari. This will prevent windows since the last time that Safari was running since the reopening.

It will not work in all cases. The SHIFT key must be maintained at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window is displayed again. In these circumstances, after force quit Safari, turn off Wi - Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then restart Safari normally. He'll try to reload the malicious Web page, but without a connection, it will not be able to. Leave this page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com and try to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet and the page that you entered is displayed rather than the malicious.

  • Norton antivirus works in Mac OS

I get a message that the Norton toolbar is disabled. This disables the anti-virus program?

Only disables the toolbar Norton and its functions. It can be re-eanbled.

Update of Norton toolbar for Firefox 8 is out-> http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Firefox-8-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/581640

You may need to reactivate 2 extensions for Norton in the Add-ons > Extensions after installing Firefox 8. Firefox 8 automatically disables third-party modules. When you start Firefox 8 for the first time (and only the first start of Firefox 8 time), you are given the option to check the items you want to be active. After that, activation of the modules can be done in the Add-ons > Extensions.

  • Using Norton AntiVirus with the iMac

For years I used Norton AntiVirus on my iMac with no problems that I know.  Recently, a novice iMac user was informed by a person from a person of type Geek Squad remove Norton AntiVirus from his Mac immediately because it destroys all of Apple security that protects us.  Is there any truth to this?

Norton AV is NOT recommended for any Mac. Norton has a long sordid history of manufacturing OS X unstable and creates more problems than it solves. OS X is extremely secure and doesn't require any AV, cleaning or other third-party applications 'maintenance' to function well. So simply kept up to date OS X in most cases will run without problem for years. I HIGHLY recommend that you uninstall Norton by following instructions to uninstall Norton!

  • How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus of my EL Capitan iMac running?

The version of Norton Antivirus, I had before the update to EL Captian does not work with El Capitan, apparently. I want to uninstalled and you are using Symantec Endpoint Protection (which, by the way told me, works better than Norton).

When I tried to install Symantec the computer says that there is an another anti-virus program in use because of it and my computer can't install Symantec. I tried to go to the applications folder and drag in the Norton Virus folder Recycle Bin, then empty the trash and even to do and then restart the computer. I have the same result every time, of course miss me something, because the program is not completely uninstall (it shows in my vertical desk... Any ideas?

If you want your Mac to work as it is designed to work, do not install non-Apple "antivirus." Please read of effective defenses against software malware and other threats.

Hi, if missing the bookmarks toolbar, right-click in the bar tabs (but not on a tab) and tick/check bookmarks toolbar.

If the Bookmarks button is missing, open the 3-bar menu > customize, customize and if you can see, simply drag a toolbar to the location of your choice, then exit to save. If the button is not there, try clicking on default settings. More here - controls customize Firefox, buttons, and toolbars.

  • Reliable backup for Mac?

    Hi all

I wish I had a solution for online backup for my mac, since I don't trust so that site comments more that increasingly are biased, I would rather ask my other consumers based on their experience!

What are the reliable online backup solutions for Mac users out there?

Features, I would love to find:

    -Backup crypted

-Files/backups scanned and protect with antivirus and antimalware systems

-Reliable in the sense that it is 200% of course, proven and protected that they will not share or disclose my data and they have secure servers

-If possible, accessible from a Windows computer in case I need it

I was thinking about everything that I wanted to put backup password protected DMG files (which are encrypted right?) and then upload to Google Drive, since at least Google servers should be online forever almost, but you are limited to 15 GB per account, anyone has any experience with the help of Google?

    Thank you!!

The problem with online backup killer, is it will take perhaps as long as three days for any transfer out or or on your Mac. It is simply not practical.
