Not able to connect to internet

I got my Pavilion dv7-4020SA for about 7 months, and this is the second time that she had refused to connect to the internet. When it happened first I brought to the PC World and the problem seems to be resolved, but now it's obviously back. This time it seems to be different however. The first time was apparently due to corrupted software, but now it can apparently be due an update or my internet security. The day where internet has stopped working, I did some updates for my computer that were apparently 'important' and restarted. When I turned my computer on the internet seems to work at first, but when I clicked to go on internet a little yellow exclamation point came where it shows the connectivity and says that there is no internet access. This may not be true because the signal was full... and my netbook connects well, fortunately. I rang up the tech guys and they suggested to uninstall and reinstall my webroot internet security. However, to reinstall I need Internet so this can be done, as I have no other internet security on my computer. I'm sick of this computer and would appreciate it if someone could help me? Please? I will be eternally grateful.

I think the only option is to uninstall your security software to see if it is blocking your access.  Restart the computer once this finished and if you now have internet access, download and install the free version of Avast as a temporary measure and check if you can always connect OK.

    The ethernet card, the only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W8.1 directly from Realtek drivers.

    Do you know what model of wireless network card your PC came with?

    The list of parts does not help me because it shows that there may be one of 3 different model wireless network cards.

    If you are unsure, please do the following so I can understand what your laptop's model card...

    Go to Device Manager.  There should be a category of other devices containing a list of devices that need drivers under this category.

    The wireless card is labeled as a network controller.

    Click the network controller device, and then click the Details tab in the upper part of the window of network controller device.

    Now you should see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.

    On this list and select the 3rd point (Hardware ID).

    My son has filled our mobile home of all known viruses of human, and so I had to give up everything and reload the operating system.  I reformatted the laptop with my copy of Windows 8 (64-bit) on the computer and now I am unable to connect to wireless internet.

    When I go to the list of "other devices" in Device Manager, see the following (with the yellow exclamation points):

    • BCM20702A0
    • Ethernet controller
    • Network controller
    • PCI device

    So I guess that the drivers for network cards, etc. are not loaded (for some reason any), but when I try to install the drivers from the HP site, nothing happens.  I can't access the Internet for Windows to automatically update everything.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi qkershner, welcome to the Forums of HP. When you reinstalled Windows, you use HP Recovery or have you installed on a different disk from Windows? If you did a cover of HP it would have installed all the drivers automatically. You would also have the opportunity to restore the drivers using this method: use of the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 8)

    If not, the drivers for laptops, would be located here: Drivers of laptop HP 2000-365DX
    You will need to download the drivers from another source and bring it to the computer (ie. the thumb drive) to install. When you get your network drivers work, you can try the HP Support Assistant, which hopefully will automatically find the rest of your drivers: HP Support Assistant

    If you install the drivers, and you have problems with them grateful, you can delete items in Device Manager by clicking on them and remove them. Then on reboot I hope to be recognized.

    b. click change date and time. And then check that the time zone is correct and the time of the internet tab has the ability to synchronize with the time server Internet.

    The same adapter wireless or wired are unusable in both networks. This means that a network adapter must be used to connect to the Internet providing and other should be used to create the ad hoc connection.

    I suggest that you follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

    Test the issue in safe mode with network.

    Step 2:

    If it works fine in safe mode with network, turn on your computer in a clean boot State and check if the problem persists.

    Assuming that you have a wireless router at home that you need to know the wireless network SSID, encryption type (IE. WPA2 or WPA for example) and the encryption key and password / password.
