Not possible to update Windows, asking the administrator

Original title: System Update updates Microsoft windows

my computer is saking administrator and I don't know how to install it uoy can help me

Hi Ronald,.

You connect under an administrator account on your computer?

This problem may occur for one of the following reasons:

a. you are not logged as a user belonging to the local Administrators group.

b. you are not allowed to specific registry keys or files.

c. the operating system cannot read the data in the file % Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2.

Refer to the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if that helps.

You receive an error message 'Administrators' only when you try to visit the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316524

    Hello Dominic,.

Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Community.

The prompt that you receive requesting the administrator username and password during the installation of any program is due to the User Account Control (UAC). UAC can help prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. UAC notifies you when changes will be made to your computer that require administrator-level permissions. These types of changes can affect the security of your computer or can affect settings for other people who use the computer. We recommend that you leave UAC to help your computer course.

However, if you still want to delete the computer from Windows 8 user account control settings, you can view the suggestions about Disabling UAC in Windows 8.

My wallpaper, the desktop icons and most of my documents are gone.

I have Vista Home Premium and a couple of days and I connected my desktop background was changed. Several desktop icons are missing, and a message came up saying there was a problem loading my settings and check the event log, or ask the administrator (me) for more details. All my "Favorites" were missing in the sidebar and my documents and recorded images folders are empty. Hello, G25

It is likely that your user profile is damaged. I would advise to create a new user account and test if you get any errors. If everything works as expected under the new user account, you can start to recover your account profile by following the steps on the following link: difficulty of a user profile is corrupted

This isn't something to ask an Adobe forum... it is your operating system that requires permissions to install the software

You need to find someone who has the administrator password to give to you, or install the software for you

  • Update Windows on the Web does not show updates

Using IE8 on Windows XP SP3 machine. MS pushed 14 updates of security for me this week. (I do not update automatically, so) I started installing the 12 Oct. The first 9 installed but the last 5 years has failed. They pushed once again and installed the Oct. 13. Log files show some errors, but all updates are listed in Add/Remove programs as added 13 Oct. I tried to go towww.update.microsoft.com which lists my updates installed and scanned for needed updates. All I get is a page asking me orders to go to the start menu, updates of windows of my office instead of typing the url. Other information: between the two dates of update I told my machine to hide a particular update me. (Other threads think it's a problem). I recently spent software AV of BitDefender to ESET (Sept. 17).  So I do not know if this problem is called Windows Update fails to load, but of course, it will fail to load at the appropriate location, resting place.

I have the answer! I found this answer (google) of someone who had a pc the windows update web site thought was a pimp. My problem is that web site update thought I had VISTA. So I deleted the key from registry HKEY_Local_Machine/software/microsoft/windows/current value/internet settings/5.0/USER Agent. (If the value contains a BONE which is incorrect, of course.) In my case, the value says windows NT 6.0, which is VISTA, not XP SP3. You will also need to do the same thing if your HKEY_current_user (by the same path) is incorrect (which was ok for me). After the backup of the key, and then delete it, then reboot, windows built the correct registry value and I'm back in business!

  • Printer does not work. Update Windows drivers seem to be the cause of this.

It is a recurring problem.  The printer stops working.  In the past, I tried to update the Windows driver, but it did not help.  I have uninstall the printer.  I reinstall the printer with my original disk, and everything works great... until this last time, I get the error BLUE SCREEN indicating the USB port that my printer is plugged (: f /) is a malfunction and stop for my protection.  The BLUE SCREEN telling me to check the updates, which there are 2 drivers for my printer, and I download them. Virus scanner, which entered its own; Defrag, which I did, and then run CHKDSK F, who said there is a problem running that.  Honestly, when the computer was working, I don't check what port he used.  Now it doesn't work, I checked the port and it is said USB001.  My computer was back in 2006 and the printer may around the same time.  I went through all the troubleshooting steps, until the uninstallation of a port.  I me am stopped there because 'port' was not clearly defined and I already have enough trouble with this computer, I didn't mess up (again) at all times.   Dell wants much more money to help and I can't understand without asking them to repeat the question several times and using a ton of minutes on my cell phone, and the updates come from Windows anyway.   Does anyone have advice?  I can't afford a new computer right now.  The BLUE SCREEN me freaks really out.  I would try to avoid those.

In short (too late) when I download the printer driver updated from Windows, my printer stops working.  This last time, I got the BLUE SCREEN error that really me freaked out.  Any suggestions?

    Hello

You tried to install several updates in a single attempt that might have caused the conflict.
Our first goal is to start the computer successfully. We can try a few methods.
First check to see if there are external devices attached to the computer, if so remove and check.

    Method 1.
    Stage I.

Check if you are able to boot safe mode. We can complete the restore of the system in safe mode and check.
Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Stage II. To perform a system restore.

    (a) click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    (b) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    (c) in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    (d) click Finish.

For more information, see this link below.

    System Restore: frequently asked questions

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

Please note: the system restore in safe mode cannot be restored in return.

    Method 2.

Launch us theStartup repair at this point, it might solve the problem.
See the following articles for additional help and steps on startup repair.

  • My office has just done a repair XP after a hardware change and now all user accounts have disappeared and he asks the administrator password when connecting!

We have a unique system of Windows XP that run the software of engineering for certain calculations. All other systems running Windows 7, but what a XP system because it's the only thing that our calculations software runs on.

CPU of the XP computer died on us and we had to replace the card mother and CPU. After the change of equipment, following Microsoft's OWN guide on the running an XP repair, we ran the system repair and got all the way to the login screen (no blue screen not as before repair). However, none of the accounts are there and he asks an administrators password. The system has NEVER had a password to our knowledge, it was built in the House, and all simply by clicking on the Administrative login asks for a password.

What can we do? We needed this fix before today and wait for the repair of the system to do. Is it possible to enter the system to run the software? We tried the SafeMode (all forms) and they all will ask a password after Windows loading.

    It's so frustrating.

(PS I have been building computers for nearly 15 years and have never had this happen)

Thanks for the quick response. I looked into the system with a "start-up" program All original profiles seem to still be there. I don't know how to make them appear well. Can you direct me or tell me, how to make profiles see the place?

The biggest problem, outdoors is not be able to sign more, is that the engineering calculation software is locked to this PC. It can be installed anywhere else without having to pay for a VERY new (I think that thousands of dollars) expensive key or a new version of the software.

    :(

    Yes, it's a problem.
I believe you can use a UBCD4Win CD or Hiren Boot CD to locate and right click on the files you want to change. And then, if you properly in your repair facility, you change the attributes after you're done.
Some guides are better than others. And here's one that I like:
If necessary, hire a PC Tech. It's much cheaper than buying a license that is thousands of dollars!

I am the admin of my laptop and when I need to edit some files today in record programs it wouldn't let me. He said: "you are not allowed to save in this location contact the administrator for permission" but I am the admin, then when I check the permissions for me everything is checked. Yet it still doesn't let me add files or record anything

also, each folder in C: local drive when I click Properties read only is selected and when I uncheck and press on apply he says he he applied but when I check again it is still selected. yesterday everything was fine and I was able to install, move, or change the files that I wanted to

is it possible to fix this?

    Hi Merrick Davis,

    1. When you try to save files?
    2. are you unable to make changes to only the files in the C drive or the discs?

Try these steps and see if it solves the problem:

Step 1: Create a new user account and see if you can save files using this account.

Refer to this link for help:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-a-user-account

Step 3: Perform a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time before the problem started.
