  • WiFi adapter has gone from one day to the next

HI - can someone help me understand why the wifi adapter might have disappeared since the device from one day to the next Manager? And how do I get it back?

    Thank you very much

    P

    Hi P_1

One of the reasons why a device disappear are simple a hardware malfunction.
It would be very interesting to know what model of laptop you have and what card WLan disappeared.
But generally if the Wlan chip isn t listed in Device Manager, and if there is no yellow or peripheral exclamation points strangers, then everything looks like a hardware failure.

Restore the PC to its original state with the recovery discs

If the PC cannot access the Windows desktop, and the Recovery Manager cannot be started by selecting the f11 at startup key, you can use either the recovery disc custom that you created, or you can order a recovery CD to replace HP, to boot the PC and restore the hard drive to its original operating state.
NOTE: perform the recovery process by using the custom recovery disk you created can take less than an hour, whilst using the replacement disks ordered directly from HP can take four to six hours and includes several reboots.
If the HP Recovery Disk Manager can access the hard drive, it will attempt to repair the recovery partition. If successful, a prompt to continue execution of the recovery using the Recovery Disk Manager.
Use the recovery discs to restore the PC by following the steps below.
    1. Insert the recovery disc into the optical disc drive and start the computer.
If the computer is running, insert the reinstallation disc and immediately click on Start and select restart to force the computer to boot from the recovery disc.
    2. When prompted, Press any key to boot from the CD or DVD, press any key on the keyboard.
    3. Leave the recovery disk boot and load the files required, while the Microsoft loading screen appears. It may take several minutes to load the required files.

  • Hard drive inexplicably doubled from one day to the next

My hard drive inexplicably doubled from one day to the next.  I now have only 3 GB free.  I did disk cleaning, defrags, uninstalls, deleted files (just 23 GB of personal files, music, etc. 99 GB drive), etc.  I downloaded TreeSize and see what the size of my files are, but don't know what is normal.  Common sense tells me that clearly something has changed the last time I used my computer to create this problem, but the only change I made was moving my personal files in my user folder to a Public folder, and then in my computer with my other laptop's network.  I checked three times, and my previous user folder files have definitely missing.  Could a bunch of file system are duplicated or something like that?  I know that I cannot delete them, but is it possible to clean them safely?

To clean all the files on the computer

    1. Click to open Disk Cleanup.

    2. In the drives list, click the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.

    3. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click on clean up system files. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    4. In the disk cleanup: drive selection dialog box, select the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.

    5. In the dialog box disk cleanup, on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the check boxes for the types of files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    6. In the message that appears, click on delete files.

The other Options tab is available when you choose to clean up the files of all users on the computer. This tab includes two additional ways to free disk space even more:

      • Programs and features. This option opens programs and features in Control Panel, where you can uninstall programs you no longer use. The column size in programs and features shows how much disk space each program uses.

      • System Restore and shadow copies. With this option, you can remove all but the most recent point on the restore disc.

Use system restore to return your system files to an earlier point in time, restore points. If your computer is running normally, you can save disk space by removing the previous restore points.

In some editions of Windows 7, restore points can include previous versions of files, called the shots and backup images created with Windows complete PC Backup. These files and images will also be deleted. For more information about system restore, see what is system restore?

  • free space on the hard disk of 80% to 10% from one day to the next. What could cause this

My hard drive went from 80%, 10% free until the next day. What is the cause?

    Hello

    (1) what antivirus program do you use?

    (2) version of Windows do you use?

    (3) have you made no changes before this problem?   I suggest you try these methods and check.

    Method 1:

    Delete files using disk cleanup.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

    Method 2:

I suggest you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: While running scan on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning try to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

    Method 3:

    Check a drive for errors.

  • My OneDrive file, formerly SkyDrive, has gone from one day to the next, you're wondering what happened? Could this be a virus?

    Hello

I left my computer on overnight and the next morning, I saw my Windows 8 Welcome screen, but when I tried to put my password to get to the computer screen went black. I then turned again the computer then next turn and logged on, but the home screen a message pops up in saying my Onedrive had disappeared, that he had been either deleted or damaged - at least I think that's what he said--and then he asked me to implement OneDrive once again, that I made, and it seems that everything is back to normal; However, I am now wondering why OneDrive disappeared, if it was caused by a virus, if someone has just managed to 'take it' and why only OneDrive and none of my other files or folders.

In addition, I noticed two strange occurrences on my computer these past two days: when I have someone, send an email to AOL, another email seems to remain behind that I just sent. and it's been very difficult to make a right click on anything; I have to do it several times to make it work, that is to say, to copy, paste, etc..

If anyone has any ideas on the subject, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Hello

It could be possible that the OneDrive has been altered or any other third-party program on the computer conflict could damaged OneDrive program.

What virus protection software is installed on the PC?

I suggest you run your antivirus software with the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    Note:
the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

For problems with AOL emails, I suggest you get in touch with the support of AOL.

  • Example: Pavilion 15 ak032tx: can I charge my laptop from one day to the next with adapter without the battery? Will this affect my PC?

can I plugged my laptop for one night only with a/c adapter or power with removing the battery? I mean my slow internet sometimes, if I have to finish downloading before dawn... Wil he effect on my laptop?

If possible, leave the battery connected. If you remove the battery and power is interrupted for any reason any you could experience data loss or file corruption. It is better to have the battery to seize, if there is a loss of power. If you are worried about damaging your battery by leaving it plugged in all night, just run the battery a bit more and charge up again the next day.

  • Why my network shares keep duplication in 'My Computer'? I have Y and Z mapped to 2 different actions. From one day to the next, I have B - Z mapped without my fault. What is going on?

Hello! I can't understand what this does to my computer. It seems that something is automatically re-mapping my mapped network shares. How can I even begin to solve this?

The last major change to my system were:
    1 - installed Norton Internet Security 2011 (anti-virus, etc.)
2 - decided to play with indexing in the Panel but I didn't not add Y and Z to the index. I didn't change the file types that are indexed using this tab in the window and check each type of file in there
3 installed MacDrive 8 so I could connect my Mac USB keys, etc. and use them locally on my PC
    Thanks in advance!

It was Norton Ghost. Norton Ghost tried to access a directory in one of the actions, but I had changed the location of this directory. He just started mapping and re-mapping the same actions over and over again. Weird! Then I opened the ghost, clicked in the menu Tools, then Options, then changed to something else by default backup destination. It's strange, but it does. I had not used this in over a year backup destination and have resorted to a ghost. Phantom decided not to change the backup destination by default, when I deleted my old backup job 'task' and made a new who had another destination of backup. Weird.

    Thanks for your good help.
  • U350. Literally from one day to the next... Battery will not charge and does more wireless.

I had my Ideapad U350 since June 2010 and had absolutely no problems with it so far.

Up til now, I have not known stack shortened life or internet problems... now, unexpectedly, the battery won't charge and the Wireless does not illuminate.

I keep my system up to date and my current antivirus.

When it is plugged in, the computer turns on.  The battery under the keyboard light flashes orange constantly.  Mousing over the battery icon in the taskbar, the menu indicates that the system is plugged. The battery is at 0% and not charging.

The light for the Wireless does not at all regardless of the position of the switch on the side or all the software settings that I fiddled with.

I went to the network connections and click right on the wireless... disabled, reactive it... has tried to diagnose the problem, windows just says that the card must be activated.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers of devices from the Device Manager, not go.

On a whim, I backed up all my data and used the restoration of the system of one - tap to return to the factory settings.  No dice.

try to remove/replace the battery, or press the power button for two seconds. If it doesn't, call lenovo support line and ask for replacement.

I had this problem for several months until I bought another charger at Walmart. There Apple goodies. Now he's fast running... perfectly. • Connection to server lost El Capitan from one day to the next, every night

This has only started happening since I upgraded to El Capitan.

Every morning when I come into work the server has disconnected from my iMac. As soon as I click on one of the folders in my sidebar but it will connect to the server again.

I was wondering if this is something being directed to the operating system, until I talk to our I.T. Guy.

Control system preferences - Energy Saver - check wake for network access. If it's not it reset the router and the modem (Yes, even if other devices work fine) and then test again.
