Notice of solicitation - Stick with Yosemite, or switch to El Capitan?

I hesitate to upgrade to OS El Capitan, because I don't want to open the door to potential problems.  Want advice from people here.  Why should I switch/why should I not pass.  Thank you.

There is a school of thought, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it. " It certainly could have problems if any software you are running is not compatible with OSX 10.11.x but it's true for every update. I run OSX 10.11.x on all of my Macs.

  • Will a WD My Passport for Mac (2 TB) not only with Yosemite work, but also with El Capitan if I install that even if El Capitan is not included in the information?

I use Yosemite for the moment but soon, should move to El Capitan. However, I bought a 2 TB external hard drive to use with Time Machine, because my computer says that I'm at my limit with the 1 TB harddrive that I currently use. Box 2 to hd came says it is compatible with Yosemite, Mavericks, or Mountain Lion. Will I have a problem with this 2 TB hd if I'm moving to El Capitan?

You will not have a problem with the drive itself; If it contains a software, which may not work with El Capitan, but you don't need any additional software to use a regular external drive.

  • No sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100

I lost the sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100. I have an invoice.
How can I recover the license number?

Licensed refused to support this topic.

    Hello

You can't get the license number.
First the sticker on the bottom of the unit has been a serial OEM key. This key cannot be used and would not work under Win XP installed system costs.

The point is that Toshiba image which was preinstalled on this laptop has already been activated, which means that this key has been useless.

I assume that you have not created a disk recovery Toshiba (or flash USB stick) in the past? Right?
These records would be reinstall the image of Toshiba containing the active Win XP system.

Well, usually it of possible to order this disc [here | http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] but I think that would be more because of the age of the laptop.

Solution: you have to buy Win XP with valid serial key.

  • Can what mouse I use with yosemite

Can someone tell me please that I can use the mouse with Yosemite.  I can't upgrade to El Captain because it is a rented from my work computer.

What mouse do you use? What computer do you have? A mouse might work, including the wireless magic mouse. A USB mouse would work too, although if you have a new MacBook you will need an adapter to add a classical USB port to your USB - C port.

  • Sticker with the product key Windows under the laptop is unreadable

    Hello Toshiba Help Center

Please help me solve this problem

Three years ago, I bought a laptop Toshiba with Windows Vista preinstalled. I also received a DVD with her recovery. I now want to reinstall Windows and completely format the hard drive - however, the sticker with the product key Windows under the laptop is unreadable. So what I did... I formatted my laptop for windows 7 and after a few months, I want to recover my product key and install windows vista pre - with the original product key that sound now
    unreadable...

Is it possible to get it back by, my laptop series No, or...
    Best regards, TOSHIBA
    IM bluebird.jeff

    Hello, Jeff

At first, I must say that it is not toshiba Help Center, but user forum created by Toshiba, so if you wait for the response from Toshiba people here you are in the wrong place.
In any case, in this forum, you can pick up some very useful information and a lot of people here can help you with your problems.

    Return to described the issue.
Unfortunately you do not understand how it works with the product key and Windows Setup, so I'll try to help you with this.
Each computer toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and the product key at the bottom of your laptop belongs to this version. With other words: when you buy the new laptop, you have to pay for hardware, operating system and a license for this preinstalled OS. Product key at the bottom is not a kind of universal product key and cannot be used for activation of another version of Windows.

You can use the delivered Toshiba recovery disc that contains mage replicated several times and each time you will have activated the operating system. When you use the Microsoft disk for the installation of the OS you must have valid product key which belongs to this particular version.

In your case product key is for Vista, and you cannot use it for Win7 activation. This product key is... unnecessary.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

I am running windows vista on the PC of my church and have inserted a USB stick with a MP4 file on it, but I can not read this file. Can I get help?

I created a video for our Church on a desktop of Windows 7 through Pinnacle Studio 14 (editor) and registered as a .mp4 file. You need a media player that is compatible with .mp4 files.

C2660dn laster printer does not not with Yosemite 10.10 - What does anyone know a fix or an update?

I found a temporary band-aid.  Try to add the printer again in system preferences > Printers & Scanners and click the icon.  Select the C2660dn in the list under the "use:" drop-down menu, select Generic PostScript Printer.  You lose the ability to duplex, but at least you will still be able to print until Dell creates a suitable driver for Yosemite.
