Lately we missed our weekly dose of useful information you need to know from an insider of NOR.  To help with this vacuum, I offer you a weekly dose of useless information that you should forget about an outsider of NOR.  Without further ADO, here is the first installment of cool things I found buried in the vi.lib.  Here is the cool screws which, for some reason, just have not made their way onto the pallets.

Cool this week VI: "game 1 D String Array.vi"

You can find this guy in vi.lib/AdvancedString.  It seems that Explorer 1 table D, but there is a very useful key, you can associate a regular expression (regex) and not simply an exact string.  An another homebrew Subvi of my gets kicks on the sidewalk.  I think that my personal version has a cleaner comic, but they win the contest for the high hand icon.

I also like how there are several layers of coolness with this one.  If you look at the comics, you'll see that they use the regular correspondence Expression_Execute.vi.  As I mention in my example of Regex Helper , it comes to the regular business of the XNode Expression object end of game, and I often find that the output table more useful than individual submatches.  I also really like his partner who returns the offsets.

The bug is that if you pass an empty array and a pattern of non-empty, the loop will never stop because it checks that the number of iterations is equal to the size of table minus 1, and not if it is greater than or equal.  This VI must use a loop For with break to avoid this situation (see that nugget no-so-weakly for more information).

    I have 3 Apple wireless devices all. The main router is the ATV, followed of an Airport Extreme, extending the network and a former Airport Express, also the extension of the network. Briefly, it is a three-storey house, on the first floor of which is a daylight basement (windows and doors on three sides), then the second and third floor (all wood of the frame).

    I'm almost completely Mac/Apple-centric (my son except for the PC game), there are 6 Mac (PPC and Intel) and 4 iPhones on the printers network every day, matching, smart TVs and casual with a device visitors or 2. Generally, there is no connection problem apart from the complaints unfounded. There are a variety of El Capitan, Yosemite, Leopard, OS 9.2.1 and iOS operating systems. Computers are my MBP to 2008, two MacBooks circa 2010, 1 iMac (circa 2010), 1 lime iMac 400 has PPC G4 MDD and iPhones - 5s and 6s (2 of each).

    I studied this weak signal suspected by the search for possible answers on the internet, try to use various applications to diagnosis Wi - Fi and browse the various parameters of the airport. I was not able to "find" a smoking gun or even a reason suspected for the signal is so poor. "So poor" refers to my dissatisfaction with our signal coverage - my expectation!  It is perhaps as good as it gets and I have too wait.

    The layout has my ATC in my office, ground floor, the west wall of the House and approximately 4 ft above the ground. The AExt (from ATC) is through an open door and a flight of stairs and on the ramp (half wall). If you stretched a string directly between ATC and AExt would be 16' - 20'. The AExp bounced around, but currently it is in our gym, which is part of the structure of individual garage. The AExp is approximately 45 ' - 50' of the AExt and 65' or from the base (ATC). My goal is to explain the variety of signals.

    I'm not the most scientific. To drive off the coast, I don't understand why there are 4 WiFi signals reported. 2-5 Ghz and 2 to 2.4 Ghz. "The only basis ' creating a wireless network" is the ATC, the other two are "the extension of the network. There are 2 reported BSSIDs and I forgot how to determine who is what hdwr.

    Walk with a MB and it is Wireless Diagnostics app, it seems, most of the signal issues are explainable. One unexplained is when I get out the MB to the gym, the signal "through the roof" - it probably doubles in strength, and that's where the Express is maybe 60' of ATC. Sounds good, but why, when I go back to ATC, the fact the signal drop in half. I want to Express signal overall. I guess the Express to be the weak link, but of course does not appear like this. My main computer, the MBP, sits 15' and at glance of ATC and gets that weak signals - I guess that it could be the Airport card in the MBP, but I'd like to think not, that I have no way to test it. I'm sure that all this has to do with the 4 signals being broadcast and the differences between networks 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.

    So, why is my best farthest signal from the router (ATC) and why is it the MBP of low signal (MB too), the nearest router. Oh, I have no neighbors to 500' or more. Sorry for writing a book.

    When you extend a wireless AirPort network using intermediate connections wireless base stations, it is important to understand how fundamentally. So please forgive me if I go to the places you already know.

    Extended wireless airport works wheel - as with the base station extend over the hub of the wheel. Each of them extending base stations would be on a spoke of the wheel. With the new 802.11ac 802.11n base stations, you can not extend linearly. For example, in your game both the extreme and the Express would be on another spoke in the wheel, step along the same spoke. Make sense?

    That said, the station of further base your Express, would have a harder time getting a signal strong enough to expand it, while extreme may not have this problem. Basically, this would explain the gap between the quality of the signal between these two base stations.

    I wrote an an airport users points to try to help to how to best place a base station that extend. It may be useful.

    By default, each of your simultaneous dual band base stations provide actually two wireless networks; one on the 2.4 and the other on the 5 GHz bands. Base stations extending each of these repeat if they are in the range. Note that the higher frequency band (5 GHz) would have a harder time penetrating objects, such as walls, ceilings, etc. and it is basically only usable in the same room. I'm guessing what to do in distance between base stations, the extreme is able to expand both networks, but the Express (especially, if it is a model of generation 802.11n 1) extend one or the other.

    For routers to Apple, the BSSID is the MAC address wireless base station itself.

    One unexplained is when I get out the MB to the gym, the signal "through the roof" - it probably doubles in strength, and that's where the Express is maybe 60' of ATC. Sounds good, but why, when I go back to ATC, the fact the signal drop in half. I want to Express signal overall.

    To each base station that spread, the level of the signal from the base station can be high, but real bandwidth of the signal will be the same as what he receives in this place.     General suggestions for Wi - Fi problems, maybe one of them will help you...

    (1) perform a forced reboot: hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Leave the device to reboot.

    (2) resetting the network settings: settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Join the network again.

    (3) reboot router/Modem: unplug power for 2 minutes and reconnect. Update the Firmware on the router (support Web site of the manufacturer for a new FW check). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (recommended for 2.4 to 20 MHz bandwidth).

    (4) change of Google DNS: settings > Wi - Fi > click the network, delete all the numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or otherwise 8.8.4.4

    (5) disable the prioritization of device on the router if this feature is available.

    (6) determine if other wireless network devices work well (other iOS devices, Mac, PC).

    (7) try the device on another network, i.e., neighbors, the public coffee house, etc.

    (8) to restore the device (ask for more details if you wish).

    I have an IPhone 6 (16GB) phone. There is something wrong with the phone. Whenever I have check my storage to continue to become weaker. Recently, I have updated to Ios 9.3. When the update is complete, there were 800 MB of free space. But in a day, the total free space was totally gone. It continues to be every time. I have not take any photos or download any content. Not even synchronization with the PC. Space is getting filled with unknown files and other apps store remains the same. Why is happening. whenever I need a shot, there is no enough space in the phone.

    Take a look at this thread and follow the steps in troubleshooting offered it. The question may be somehow connected with WhatsApp, then try to delete the app.

    Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

    Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings

    If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.

    I recently bought a satellite L755-1 DR and everything is ok, but the WiFi is really weak. All my laptops to get you the best wireless signal and my new computer laptop even unable to connect to the router, and if it connects with success it only lasts a few minutes. When im even in coffee with my friends, they have good signal with their cell phones, and I can't even reach a Web page.

    I ve already installed the latest drivers for the Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network card and it's always the same. I tried to reinstall the drivers, Turn off all applications and services and keep only those of microsoft windows, and it is impossible to get a good signal. I ve changed the settings to the Maximum in each Power Saving Option to save energy, and still nothing has changed.

    I've seen some people claiming that the problem is not well connected wireless card, but I can't open my laptop and losing my warranty, and I don't want to send it to the warranty since I need the laptop for work.

    Y at - it someone with the same problem? or a solution?

    The Auguste user had the same problem with the Atheros WLan card and the driver update has solved this problem. You said you've already tried this, but maybe you didn t use the updated driver.

    Also try to disable the option: leave the laptop turn off the WIFI device in order to save the battery.
    This can be found in the device-> Wlan card Properties Manager

    To be honest, I think that you are off of the router if you have a weak signal.
    Have the latest driver WLAN and the BIOS?

    Check if the laptop and the router use the same WLAN standards and disable all security features in the router like encryption, the hidden SSID, MAC address filtering settings, firewall, etc.

    You have security software on your laptop? Disable it and test it again.

  • Weak WIFI signal

    Hi, am currently using an HP Pavilion 2307tx g6 but get really weak wifi signal in my room. Only able to get about 2-3 bars every time while my other laptop can go up to full bars.

    Discussion on the theme of the power of the Signal

    Buffaloes by themselves may be a little empty of meaning, UNLESS you can interpret the definition of what each 'bar' says.

    Signals are affected by the type of router you have - routers are NOT equal.

    • The cheapest router can not not the support required for the performance of your computer's wireless card.

    Example: An older router that only supports 802.11 g will not provide faster than 54Mbps - even if you have the best card you can buy in your computer.

    • The opposite can be true as well - a good router cannot provide a better service than the computer's wireless can support.

    Example: If the card in your computer is 802.11 g, so even if you have a router capable of speeds of more than 300 Mbps, you can get only 54 Mbps.

    Speed and autonomy are limited by the link in the chain.

    • 802.11n is faster than the 'g', but it can also be slowed by the walls, the furniture in metal and other obstructions.
    • Move your equipment, even a few inches, could make the difference to a router 802.11 g

    AND

    • The same might be true for a 802.11n router that has a small antenna (low power)
    • Antennas in routers are NOT equal.  Small antennas in routers fantasies can still match a whimpy router.  You want a router with a 5db antenna 7db (or better if they make these by the time you read this).

    Assuming you bought the biggest, baddest, best wireless available for your computer, then you may need to upgrade your router.

    Strength vs. Signal bars

    Bars can indicate how things are moving along, or they can cloud the issue - depends on the "bars": which generates the bars, the sensitivity are the bars and you can do a lot in a bar anyway?

    You can use another measure: the traction measured in percentages, detection and Signal type:

  • Satellite L50-B-1N8 - weak wifi signal

    So two weeks ago, I bought a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1N8 of Argos.

    He never had too good a force wifi signal (bars never complete - even when sitting next to the wifi router) but I thought it was due to my wifi box and possibly the time of garbage that we had.

    However, I still have my old laptop, and when you check the WiFi side by side, my old portable Samsug picked up the signal full or almost full so this new Toshiba picked up a bar at a push.

    Since then, I took the laptop to my parents and he struggles to get the good WiFi, if no signal there too.

    It's super frustrating because it get wifi, it get just a very weak signal or nothing at all, and as soon as I move my laptop... literally a few centimetres, it will change the wifi signal or my wifi signal is cut and it will be impossible to connect.

    I did everything I can think of troubleshooting to actually factory reset my laptop that none has worked so far. The factory reset seems to have actually done worse, rather better!

    As I said, my router is not the problem here, I have my old laptop that connects very well, as well as two other laptops and mobile devices that all have connected to wifi very well and with full signal!

    I disabled all these wifi devices to see if this is the problem, but that did not help or the other. I also have a booster of wifi in the House, so all devices have full or almost full signal, but it seems of no use for this Toshiba.

    I lose my home, is there anything else I can do? I'm still in the warranty of 30 days of Argos if the laptop is down, but I just can't think of anything to try. I just hope that if the laptop is down Argos will help and either pay the phone or Exchange.

    I think first of all you must check if the wireless performance question isn't related to energy saving settings.

    Go to the control panel? Windows power options.
    Choose the current power plan
    Now, you must click Advanced power settings.

    In Advanced Power settings you will find different options, search for LAN wireless (WiFi) and choose the Performance for both options (battery and power)
    After that, restart the device.

  • Very weak WIFI signal on Satellite Pro L10

    I have a Sat Pro L10 delivered without a mini pci wireless card so I bought and installed an and is equipped with an internal antenna behind the screen. When I'm in the same room as the router I have a brilliant connection but as soon as I leave the room I lose all together. The router is fine as the other people have no problem connecting to this. The card I bought made by Agere but is marked as Toshiba, I updated the driver to the most recent I could find which is June 2002.

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I'm tired of dragging this wire around with me.

    I think that there is not much to do. I think that the environment has a strong influence on the Wlan signal reception. It of the same question as yours.
    My brother uses the WiFi network at home and the signal is strong enough if it is in the same room but in other parts, the signal is very weak. But at home it can receive WiFi signals without any problem. The signal is strong, also if it is in different rooms

    I think that the walls of the room are the reason for the weakness of the signal.

    But you can see the Wlan card properties in Device Manager. There you can change some settings in the Advanced tab. For example, to disable energy saving, etc.

  • Qosmio G30-163: WLan signal is too weak

    I have a new Toshiba G30-163 with Intel Proset wireless 3945ABG card.

    My internet connection is broadband via a Linksys router, and the router is away from the 2 rooms.

    It fluctuates between 2 bars bars 0 signal and changes between 60 kb/s and 6 KB/s download speed. The fan will also complete whenever I try to connect to the internet.

    I have places than an old portable Satellite of 4 year next to my laptop and it picks up 3 bars of signal.
    My neighbour is able to get 3 bars signal also on another laptop (at about 20 meters).

    1. I installed the latest drivers from Toshiba without change.
    2. I have installed the latest drivers and software from Intel Proset and Toshiba with no. change (V105159 and Toshiba 1050174) and (V10.5.0.3 of Intel)
    3. I turned the power to Max on map Proset to no effect.
    4. I disabled power save also, but now that the internet option disconnects more frequently.
    5. I bought a card Linksys thinking that it would be more compatible with the router, but no change.
    6. I get full signal - 5 bars - when using the laptop next to a strong WiFi area.

    So in summary.
    Two other laptops, an old Toshiba, one can pick up a signal of great connection - one next to me and the other as far.
    I upgraded to the latest version of the Intel Proset software and drivers and always poor-to-no signal with signal falls.

    I wonder if there is a way to test if the problem is something else on the laptop, statuette etc.?

    Any ideas please?

    I understand your problem, but I have a question. Your Qosmio there so weak signal just with the home router? I realized that the signal is good enough when it is connected to another router.

    If a friend you have WLAN router at home, try to test it. The strange is that the Linksys card shows the same result. Because of this, I guess that problem is not the laptop WLAN card feature.

    My airport express base station to base station (part number MC414LL/A) has worked well for the first 3 years, but now has a weaker signal is no longer covers the apartment. The location has not changed and we have not added all of the devices that could create interference.

    3 years... average... is on when the internal of food inside the Express starts slowly the head downhill, so maybe it's a factor here.

    If you don't have already done, power off the AirPort Express for a few seconds, then put it to the top. When you start the Express, it will automatically scan all channels use wireless sector and select the best channel to use both.  If you live in a crowded environment, you may have to restart the AirPort Express on a regular basis.

    If there is no improvement after a few reboots of the Express, on what you can do at this point is to reset the device back to the default settings and then set up again to see if a new beginning offers some improvements in the intensity of the signal.
