Number of words in document displayed in Windows Explorer does not.

When I had Vista, I really liked the fact that Windows Explorer displays the number of words in a Word document using the «Détails» Until I realized that, without apparent reason, it displays the number of words sometimes change to one that is totally wrong - without the actual document being altered (i.e. number displayed in the Explorer of words = 2544, true account of the words document = 3655).

The only way to solve this problem is by opening the document, undertake a different number of words, and then save the file again.

Anyone has an idea why this could happen and, more important still, how I can stop what is happening in the future?

It's function is useful is that I've noticed since the evolution of XP and I bought Word 2007 specifically so that I could use this feature (replacing the, apparently perfectly good and free Open Office software).

Please respost your question in the Discussion of the Office group at: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.word.docmanagement&lang=en&cr=US where people who specialize in Microsoft Word and its issues (and this seems to be one of them) will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

Good luck! Lorien - MCSA/MCSE/network + / A +.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
    you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
    Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
    REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
    and device manufacturers are located)

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities
in the updates of Windows, which leaves on Windows updates, but it will not be installed

    you want.

My computer is running really hot, what he has always done and I keep it high and the fan not covered (I'm broke, can't afford a fix of the computer, or the new computer).  Please talk is profane. I'm not all that techno.  THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

  • After you install a second WD 1 TB my book drive, Windows Explorer does not see the new drive.

    Original title: Signature Collision?

I'm having hard to the installation of a second external drive. I use Windows 7 Ultimate RC. There was a WD 1 TB drive My Book already installed - healthy and works very well. The problem occurred after installing a second WD 1 TB my book reader. I followed all the instructions, pluuging the drive to a USB hub. Windows found the disk, installed drivers and reported the new drive ready for use.

Windows Explorer does not see the new drive. Devices and printers shows 2 external drives from WD. Disk Management shows as 2 drives, but the second disk is offline because of a 'Signature' Collision

Each player works very well if it's the only drive plugged in. "Eject My Book" does not work because a program (or more) are to use the player in the background (Windows or Norton).

I installed the latest firmware and I'm still having this problem. I've been emailing WD with this problem and they are running out of ideas.

    Can anyone help?

Other differences is that all desktop backgrounds are brighter and it disappears once it restarts, but returned about 5 seconds later. That I can not click once again. Are there any suggestions? Hi Nicolas,.

I appreciate your efforts to solve the problem.

I suggest you try the procedure described in the article and see if it helps.

Error: Windows Explorer has stopped working
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2694911/en-us

    Note:
    1) data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

    2) after the boot minimum troubleshooting step, read the sections "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    3) when you do the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

    4) note that it takes as much time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.

Yes, easy to replace the HARD drive.
It takes a HARD drive 2.5 SATA for this laptop.

But I recommend that you check the first HARD disk using a tool called Drive Fitness Test... Use google to get this software

Unfortunately, he has no such functionality present in windows to display the ogg metadata, you must have any third-party program to make this option on your computer, to do that you need to use your favorite search engine and search the Internet for the third-party program that integrates this feature.

  • Windows Explorer does not display the file or files with fix = folder

A few days ago I noticed that I have some files seemed not be included in the records, I have worked with. After some fiddling, I find that I can see all the files in a folder if 'fix' (at the top right of the display of the files) is set to "name". Usually the value by default in "folder" but whose value fix folder the subfolders and their content is invisible.

With fix the name value, I moved some files to another folder and they turned upward correctly. But when I then moved this folder in the folder where I had taken the files and set fix it to the folder again the folder and its files have disappeared.

I had recently downloaded both Dropbox and Google so I removed the and pulled out another who was supposed to repair/update drivers that I had a problem with many (e.g. printer) drivers disappear just before Christmas. Does not see how this can be related unless there is also a malware somewhere on my computer. I have Norton 360 update and run Windows Defender when he invites me.

The only other recent change (after the loss of the pilot) was to download all the Windows updates current, even if not necessary.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Windows is up to date.

Right-click on the folder and click Properties,

Is there a Unlock button on the general section?

    If not,

Check the hidden box and click on apply.

This will set all the folders and files as hidden.

Now to clear the hidden check box, click on apply again.

This will remove the attribute hidden folders and files,

Finally click OK and apply and OK your way out.

At worst, check with your user account permissions.

However, it is accessible under the network locations:

But because it is not available under 'Computer', the apps Store are not detect the media server. The server is available under my Surface computers and the same app store is able to access the media server.

    What Miss me?

I also have the nagging impression that this happened after I have install Windows Media Player and it was working before, but I can't say for sure.

    Good, solved.

    1. in the Menu of charms, click settings-> change PC settings

    2. in the settings app, select devices on the left hand. It will give the list available on the right devices.

    3. here my device "MediaPi" has been shown in offline mode. Select it, and then I clicked on the (-) at the top to remove it.

    4. in Windows Explorer, select the computer (on the left side).

    5. from the Ribbon bar click 'Multimedia access'-> 'connect to the media server. It will take a while and should list your multimedia 'MediaPi' server in my case. Select it and click Next.

    6. Windows will display to install the necessary files. Once it's done, you're done! Now, you will again see the media server.

Now here's a strange: for a few months my Windows Explorer has been "stoppage of work" and "restart" (except that it isn't) in two circumstances.
