Number that appears on the Messenger of FB icon

I got a five number that appears on the messenger icon, but I don't know what this means or what to do with it.  I click the icon and I see my 200 contacts facebook!

1. where can I see the 5 messages?  If these are five messages.

2. when I logged in messenter I've seen some of my FB contacts with a message saying "I use messenger." This message did get sent without my urgent shipment?

3. someone has a video on it?

Ask facebook or look at their support site, since you use their messenger app.
