NVIDIA G 210M on Ubuntu 9.10

Hello

I use Ubuntu 9.10 on Toshiba U500-12J. Even with the latest drivers NVIDIA (_NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190, 53-pkg2_), I have occasional frosts and * no. * 3D - support.

Everyone out there with more luck?

see you soon,
Jan

SearchWords: G210M, U 500, 12 D

Drag it upward and running with the latest beta driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195, 30-pkg2)... No breaks down so far and support entirely in 3D. Compiz works like a charm :-)

    Hello

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Ubuntu version because I like Ubuntu linux more than Windows.

I can't find the linux drivers that will allow my Nvidia GT 950 M graphics so, basically, the card useless and no power management.
There is absolutely nothing for Ubuntu Linux on your drivers page.

I have updated to the latest BIOS A03.

The laptop's Ubuntu Logo sticker on it next to the Intel i7 so I thought it is totally compatible.

    Please advise,

    Thank you

Optimus system and at the present time, it is not properly supported under Linux, there is work in progress for him, but for a workaround, see Bumblebee project: wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

Description a little longer: you have two graphics - integrated (Intel) and discreet (Nvidia). Optimus systems are designed with the intention to use the GPU integrated tasks that requires no graphic heavy treatment (most of the day-to-day activities) and the use of the discrete GPU for applications requiring more powerful GPU. Integrated card is less eager for power and voltage GPU discreet when not in service allows cooler use.

Normally you use integrated card and there is no way to use the card nvidia directly if the BIOS does not switch to it. Help Optimus allows to use the Nvidia card for rendering and power down to save power when not in use. It has not been official for Optimus of Nvidia Linux support. Bumblebee is a community created project attempting to address the issue, but it is really only a workaround until the solution has been created. FIRST is such a solution, but at present it is still experimental and is not in any version of Ubuntu, more it is officially supported only in the open drivers source (new), Nvidia has not yet validated supporting in their binary driver.

I agree that Dell support for bids Linux pages are sorely lacking, in fact I was not able to locate a page describing their Linux pre-installs. Ubuntu certification pages are not really informative on Dell changes and upgrade policy.

  • Have the latest drivers Nvidia on FF8 for Linux but WebGL doesn't work do not

I downloaded Firefox 8 for my Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit office, which is (according to topic: support):

    • Description of the adapter: NVIDIA Corporation - GeForce 8800 GTS/PCI/SSE2
    • Driver version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 285.05.09WebGL
    • Renderer: blocked for your version of the graphics driver. Try to update your driver graphics version 257.21 NVIDIA or newer.
    • GPU accelerated Windows: 0/1. Blocked for your version of the graphics driver. Try to update your driver graphics version 257.21 NVIDIA or newer.

These drivers are the latest directly from site Web de Nvidia. Even if I go to any page of WebGL, it tells me that my browser doesn't support WebGL. What's wrong? OpenGL, Compiz effects, etc. all work otherwise. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try resetting all the Pref gfx.blacklist.

  • Firefox slowing down to stop (for > 1.5 min) to load the site and freezes any Ubuntu 11.10, modern system.

    Hi guys,.

I have been using Ubuntu 11.10 since it was beta with no problems. I have been regularly updating everything, and keep a clean track with sudo apt-get autoremove and sudo apt-get clean. Even with all updates, firefox was running completely fine until just last week. If an update came out in the last month, that may be it. My updates are up to the month at least.
As soon as I open firefox, it pretends to load, before freezing (and turning gray). At that point, my entire system hangs. I have updated everything. I have apt-get remove firefox'ed, apt-get autoremove/clean, then apt-get install firefox'd. I have started in firefox -safe-mode with all options checked. I have, of course, rebooted several times. I have run firefox without, then after deleting every, add-on. I have even searched for log files in .mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports, but found none (a bunch of tmp and extra files). I've tried starting firefox under Ubuntu classic instead of Unity. These are all my online searches have found.
I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 on Intel i7-960 in an Intel DX58SO2 with 8gb mem, and EVGA superclocked pci-express video adapter. nvidia is properly configured. No other program at all hangs but firefox, which is why I'm here and not in the Ubuntu forums.
       Thank you for your help.

I followed the advice of one of the posts
here , to rename the folder .mozilla and it worked. I would like to add, however, that it's very embarrassing and all your custom settings and bookmarks and Favorites etc. will be wiped. I would like to know what causes this, and my satisfaction with firefox is declining.
    Still better than IE...

It seems that the device is not at all.
On some models, it is possible to disable the webcam in the BIOS.
Maybe you should look here first?

F2 at the STATION (when Toshiba logo appears just after switching on).
    Probably under the section Advanced.

  • Satellite P500 & UBUNTU - extern VGA do not work

    Hello

I'm running ubuntu for 2011 with my Toshiba Satellite P500 (PSPGSE), it was working fine until a few weeks ago (I think that updated NVidia)

Right now, I'm not able to connect an external video source. I am a math teacher and this is very annoying for my work, because I connect my laptop to a projector. I tested with other VGA cables and other monitors, nothing...

I don't know what is happening now, nvidia control center does not detect an external video source to my P500 and sends no signal.

Anyone has the same problem and solve it?

Is there a tool to verify the integrity of external output?

    Could someone help me?
    I'm running UBUNTU 12.04.

    Kind regards.
    Rudolf

    Hi Rudolf

It can be tricky and requires manual work in order to find the cause of your problem.

    It can be:

    (1) related material. If so, you must repair your device. But don't take that as a first choice!

    2) caused by an update of the advantageous driver (driver from nVidia and not handled by the community)
In the event that the problem is caused by the pilot-owner, you may be able to restore the previous version to recover your functions required and cross your fingers that nvidia released a new driver that solves your problem.

    3) caused by a change again, which is the implementation of free software of the driver for the nVidia chips.
Problems with the kernel / new are more likely to be managed by the community.

As the drivers again as far as I understand, are released with updates to the kernel, you may have luck trying this:

When you start your PC, you can briefly see a sort of start with some choice menu.
Can be a list of kernels to boot from.

    Example:

    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 122
    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 104
    Ubuntu 12.04 - safe mode

and so on. Above are examples only because I don't know exactly how it may look in Ubuntu.

Please stop start pressing f.ex. upwards or downwards and select a core that is the precedent at latest.
In my example, it would be:

    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 104

Press ENTER and watch the startup of the unit.
What place in the office, attach an external display device to the port you need and see if things work as expected.

If so, you probably need to file a bug on the Ubuntu bugzilla report.

    Let us know the result!

Is there anyone who managed to install nvidia optimus GT 630 m in ubuntu or any other linux OS and worked? Coz, I did all the methods that are available on the net, but not of chance, discovered that Bumblebee can not activate Nvidia! is it good?

How to change graphics card? It has an option to change the card in the BIOS?

I appreciate your help and thank you

    Hello

I would like to know what are the results when starting Ubuntu 12.10.
Switch card is probably not possible. Normally the OS and drivers cares what graphics adapter is used. It is not possible from the BIOS.

    See this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1329254
-bluetooth is not enabled until you do a windows
    toshset utility does not work
-Some graphics issues: when you close the session or connect to a console CTRL + ALT + F1 or close the session user, the screen is noisy... refresh rate problems?
then nvidia driver is the 185... Maybe the 190 can solve this problem, but I have not tested

I hope that Ubuntu 10.04 will solve all these problems and I'll try to help the community ubuntu to do!

This Qosmio laptop is a good laptop, great sound, great performance and great graphics!

The fact is that Linux is not supported on Toshiba laptops and so there is no information how an Ubuntu is running on the different laptop models.

  • GPU fans to work on Satellite P100-429 (Nvidia) on Linux

    Hello

I have a P100-429... and managed to get the GPU fan to work. As most of you probably know, we edit the DSDT in order to get its work under Linux (and these laptops). There, another fix that also allows the GPU fan work. Mine seems to be on low-speed all the time and the Nvidia display configuration application now the temp to be less than 50 c most of the time, so before he went up to 75 or more.

In any case, I've posted my DSDT updated at: http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/edit.php?manufacturer=Toshiba&name=Satellite+P100-429

NB I use also of the Bios version 3.30.

I found the solution on the French site, I had to interpret slightly.

Problem, is that the resolution is not start TI 1024 x 768

I hear this same problem under windows.

What I need is the right of xorg settings to get
    This damend display work.

I hope someone could help even if someone knows
the solution for windows that would be great I
will try to adapt this to linux.

    Thank you very much.

    brain

I put t know a solution to the problem, but I can't believe that these problems appear under Windows. Some drivers for windows supports an extensible option and therefore this bar don t appear.
But generally it s not able to install the original NVIDIA driver on Toshiba laptop under windows. Graphics drivers from the Toshiba page are not the same as the original graphics drivers from Nvidia or ATI page.

I don't know about using the driver with Linux m but I found a piece of nice configuration info page:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/

That could be a few configuration for Linux tips.

  • Card nvidia, Linux Mint and W520?

    I'm on a W520 possessing a videocard of nvidia Quadro 1000 m, running Linux Mint 17 xfce (64-bit)

Recentley, I came across a situation that required OpenGL 3.3. Best I can tell, my card intel integrated can support above 3.1!

So I went to try to get the nvidia card work. Note to all the world at this point... Installation of the nvidia proprietary drivers directley Apparentley is the worst thing to do.

I went to install the drivers of bumblbee (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee) and have since been frusterated with an nvidia card not working.

I went to the cat bourdon, scourd the web for my problem, tried to re - install on a fresh USB... Nothing works.

Has ANYONE else been in this situation? What are the steps that you took to get a functional nvidia card?

I have no experience with anything else that Fedora works on my W520, but before installing dual boot linux partition, I turn it on discrete rule. It is a bit of annoyance to have this go in the BIOS before the OS, but it of the only way I got everything to go smooth and figures.

  • Where can I download ubuntu pre-installed on hp pavilion n278tx 15

    Hello
I bought a hp pavilion n278tx 15 and wrong overide the partition ubuntu with windows 8. This link explains that pre - intalled ubuntu pack is a special package. And I want to download this pack and install it at the back. He also mentions that this pack of ubuntu supports all the drivers including nvidia geforce.

Is it possible to install a ubuntu pack that can be found here (site official ubuntu) and install drivers, if so please explain where I can find drivers for ubuntu.
