  Go to Device Manager and click on the ethernet controller needing drivers.  Click the driver tab.

  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software method and find the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

  I have a hand built system running Windows XP sp3. It does not recognize one of the pilots who strives to update and suggested I have uninstall and then try to re - install.   The only way I know is to get this information from the manufacturing of the hardware device.  In this case go to the Web from Nvidia site and then go to the downloads section. You can then select the Nforce drivers such as pilot. After that, you will need to know which chipset your motherboard uses. Once you get all the information it will take you to the download page for the drivers. Normally they have the available release notes to see what changes have been made by the pilots. If you decide to update, I would use the Nvidia site instead of the one offered from windows update. After installing the nvidia windows update stops offering you the update.

  Your machine doesn't have a network card, modem only. You need to replace the modem with a mini-PCI combo and then install the appropriate driver.
