ODSEE 11g & Solaris SMF

Hi experts,

I use ODSEE 11.1.1.7.2 and the DSCC on Solaris 10. Power button to restart the system is provided by rc.

I guess that would be the real benefits by integrating into SMF to manage instances ODSEE.

I know that I would miss power of the DSCC instance...

What do you suggest me?

Many thanks and best regards.

Hi Rob.

DSCC is able to handle instances ODSEE managed by SMF. To do this, you must use the command enable-service dsadm. This will save your SMF Forum. At this point, dsam power through SMF to start/stop the server. To be able to handle this case, you just need a DSCC agent that runs as root (so that it can run svcadm command) and save your DS instance with this agent in DSCC. Then, you can start/stop/configure your DS with DSCC.

Kind regards

Carole.

  • Customer update from 6.3 to 11g on Solaris 11

    We work with a client who bought new hardware from Oracle and installed Solaris 11, where root is a role and not much of a user.
    The plan is to move a 6.3-11g in parallel mode environment, if we can.
    So that the old and new environments run in parallel, on the new hardware, we wanted to build a 6.3 environment that synchronizes with replication
    with the current context and then upgrade in place.

    We hit the hurdle from the beginning; for example how to configure Tomcat6 so that we can create directory servers that start as a person.

    Currently, the only way to get the DSCC on Tomcat6 is to install ADS in cascade webservd and problems here.

    Anyone who works for 6.3.x' s Department DSCC running on Glassfish 3.0.1 where this works a little better, or is there a better approach.

    Thanks in advance. Michael

    I do something similar, except will not comment on Solaris, Solaris Linux - just support us better Linux for my company.

    I created to 11.g 6.3 replication agreements, from one server to another, and you could do an import/export or init-repl-dest according to the size of the data.  It is easier to do with the command-line instead of dscc.

    You will not be able to use the dscc 6.3 to manage 11.g servers and vice versa.  They can monitor each other, but they are unable to manage the configuration of the other.

    From my experience, you will need to use Java 1.7 to get anything to work properly.  Make sure it is what you have in your path.

  • Solaris 10 compatibility with 11g Webgates

    We have a customer using Solaris 10, Apache 2.2.13, and we need to install webgates to protect their resources. We use the OAM 11 g (11.1.1.5). We have done in the past, but the matrix certification indicates that only 10g webgates are able to be used with this combination.

    Is this still true or are we able to use 11g webgates with this combination?

    In a few months, we have will be upgrading to 11.1.1.6... are we going (notice I did not ask if we) have to say about our customer to go to the OHS 11 g instead of Apache?

    Any help would be appreciated... and if we can get documentation that directs us precisely on this point-, so we can instill in our customer the need to spend to OHS Apache would be too great!

    It is correct and still the case.

    There is no 11.1.1.6 for OAM, the next update will go to 11.1.2 and WebGate support remains the same, but Sun OpenSSO agent will build as well.

  • Controls all the preconditions fails on Oracle 11g R2 on Solaris 10 SPARC

    Hi all

    Wonder if anyone has experienced this problem before when installing Oracle 11 g Release 2.

    I'm trying to install Oracle 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0/1/0) for Solaris 10 SPARC, respecting the Oracle® Database Setup Guide fast 11g Release 2 (11.2) for the Solaris (SPARC 64-Bit) operating system that is located here:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e10863/TOC.htm#BABHECFG

    I created my users and groups, gave the permissions set ORACLE_BASE, added the oracle with projadd project and set the required parameters it and in/etc/System too just incase.

    When I run. / runInstaller, on the section due diligence, it seems to fail pretty much everything and I don't know why...

    His same say the oracle user does not exist (well I had to run the installer as oracle!), oinstall, s/n, etc as well. Complains about limit parameters and settings of perimeter of core that are defined. He even complains that you don't find the architecture of the BONE and are invisible to the packages that are installed. It basically seems as if his tent all these checks but found nothing properly.

    All the expected and actual values are s/o too, usually even if it should appear. Someone had this kind of problem or have any idea what could be the cause?

    I think its got something to do with Solaris 10 SPARC or some sort of requirements, which is even not mentioned in the Oracle documentation.

    Thank you very much

    Kind regards.

    Check the doc of MOS. It has the required information and the reference to other documents too.

  • Suggest a master / Hub / consumption for the deployment of 11G ODSEE

    Hello

    We have therefore 2 servers master 11g sitting in a place... Let them be A and b... changes are written for them

    We have an another two servers C and D in another location. Their use is essentially to allow users read it)... Now, what is the best configuration for this?

    NOTE:

    (1) C and D must breed them for redundancy.
    (2) A and B DO reproduce with each other but not shown below... (A MASTER) <>- (MASTER B) is always the case but not below just for ease
    (3) we want A connect to C for one-way replication and B to D for another... So, if A breaks down... B-C and D are still get updates...
    (4) A and B MUST also be MASTER
    (5) if possible people should not be able to write to the C and D

    What is the best scenario? Or any other if possible and the best?

    (1) (a-frame)--> (HUB (C) <>- (HUB (D),--(Master B)

    (2) (Master (A) CONSUMER C)-> <>- (CONSUMER D) <--(Master B)

    (3) (Master (A) HUB C)-> <>- (CONSUMER D) <--(Master B)

    I don't know if they are possible or not...

    Published by: user13488351 on November 2, 2012 12:37 AM

    The issue is that you cannot 'send' replication information a consumer to another consumer (you will need at least a hub); Therefore, to initialize the topology you could do:
    (1) master and Master B's configuration to the multimaster replication (A and B Master <--MMR-->Master)
    (2) create C consumers and consumption
    (3) create the following replication agreements:
    Master A---> consumer C
    Master A---> consumer D
    Master B---> C consumer
    Master B---> consumer D
    (4) initialize the replication agreement from Master A to C of the consumer (online or offline)
    (5) initialize the replication agreement to Master A to D of the consumer (online or offline)

    That's all you need to do, since you initialized C and D in A, there is no need to also B additional initialization; the replication protocol will take care of everything to keep the synchronization topology.

    Marco

  • Oracle RAC 10 g / 11g on Solaris 10 operating system

    Hi Experts and all the

    Now, I'm pretty sure I'm confused myself a lot and no doubt this solution exist... or maybe not...

    When we have an ACTIVE - PASSIVE Clustering, say Veritas Cluster 5.0 on Solaris 10 OS running on the SPARC platform, could configure us ACTIVE - ACTIVE cluster Oracle server on top of that?

    In other words, I'm going to configrue node A and B node in a Configuration ACTIVE / PASSIVE using VERITAS Cluster. Then I want to configure several oracle on her database so that its operation on the node has, as well as on the node B. Is this possible? How the Oracle configuration change here if that's possible?

    I understand that a database must be ACTIVE, its needs for instance to access data files, control files and redo permanently log files.

    So if the Oracle database is to Cluster ACTIVE / ACTIVE, all its bodies should also access necessary file systems that have these files.

    When OS Admin said that it is ACTIVE - PASSIVE Clustering of Veritas, I understand that the file systems are not accessible from the passive node. So I'm not able to understand how the database can be active on that node. Is this possible?

    Please share your thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc.

    Kind regards!
    Sarat

    To run active/active, you shared drive, and you also need for communication between the instances of coordinate lock, block cache, written datafile, restoration, etc.. That's what RAC.

    Usually with active/passive cluster (VCS) software will manage resources (disk, network interface, for example) and to move these resources on the active node and start them. for example to mount the drive, start the network interface, the listener sqlnet, starts the instance.

    Then... If you want assets assets, run CARS. If you want to active/passive, are running VCS.
