Offered several times KB983583
I offered this update for probably more than a month now. According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339, the file IS installed as it shows like green icon several times and none of the troubleshooting steps have worked. And now, whenever I try to contact the support IE freezes up, so I say try the forums!
some additional info - I had spyware and virus scans successfully. This is for windows XP (it sends automatically me on win7 forums, so I hope this is the right place). My partition/OS installed is a little weird. I used a windows XP pro disc to install XP Home Edition.
Well, if memory serves, he went like this:
-Position the disc of Windows XP Home Edition
-Restart off disc
-L' prompt to install rises
-When I start installing files, it asks you please insert disk Windows XP Home Edition (which is still in the drive).
-J' have the House disc, reinsert, same thing: Please insert disk
-J' put in my Windows XP disk professional just to see if it would work
-l'installation continues and installs all files
-When he did install files, he asked me to please insert the disc from home
-J' I eject professional and enter the House.
-the process is completed (not the installation of the actuall file, but the registration or other after installation).
-Windows XP Home Edition is running
Both drives are official records of detail. Don't know if this has something to do with the fact a continuous installed update available, but I thought that maybe let the pros know = D. After looking on Google for my problem, I saw that 1 other person had the same problem as me, so it seems not to be very common.
Thanks in advance,
Zach
