OfficeJet 6100: Black ink printing

I have a yellow cartridge empty but want to print in black ink only 90% satisfied with my printing needs.

The manual here says 32-33 pages that the printer will print black if there is enough color ink in the print head, but once the ink has run out completely the cartrdige will need to be replaced.

HP and other printer manufacturers have technology another printer for different needs.  For ink jet printers:

    • Some have integrated into the ink cartridges print heads.  These printers can print generally with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black cartridges (but not both) removed. Deskjet 6980 series is an example, or for an all-in-one, check the Deskjet 2540.
    • Other printers have separate replaceable printheads and inks.  An example would be the printer Officejet 6100.  In these printers print head can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors off.  Some of these printers allow printing with a color, the other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or several colours, the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send to the printer for the service.
    • Other printers have permanent print heads.  To run only those without little ink in all colours would risk causing damage to the print head because of clogs, air ingested in the printhead or grilled printhead resistances of shooting. The Officejet 6700 is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed print heads that could require the service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.

The document described here how the ink is used.  While the document is written for inkjet printers HP the same principles apply to the other manufacturers.print but especially black color inkjet printers printer IPH as those in the first category above can be a good choice.

  • Photosmart HP 5510 does not leak possible internal ink black ink print

A few days ago, I noticed that my 5510 photosmart printer was printing not anything in grayscale. The printer was only print a blank page. Given that the black cartridge was running low I deciced to replace the cartridge with a new cartridge HP XL Black real. This doesn't seem to work so I replaced the cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges as well because they were weak. Once again this seems not the problem with the black ink print do not. I tried UN plugging in the printer, restore the factory settings, the ink head cleaning (as well as manually clean the black ink head), uninstall and reinstall the printer on my computer software and ensuring that each cartridge is properly ventilated properly. I tried to print a color document printed fine, but he left what was supposed to be black on the page.

I decided to investigate the inside of the printer, a little further with a flashlight while it was unplugged. Everything seemed fine until I have move the carriage of ink to the left and noticed that when the transport of ink is normally found on the far right, was full of black ink. Splashes of black ink are found all over the structure of the printer. The padding that is located inside the base of the printer is dipped in black ink as well. I don't know if this is normal or if this is the reason why black ink is not printing correctly, but I have pictures if anyone is interested in seeing.

The possibility of replacing the printer bothers me a lot because I just bought yesterday only $90 of the ink.

    Hi @Samantha88

I will private message you on that.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n ink printing - black not printing

I have a printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n and for some reason the black ink is not printing.  Color cartridges work fine.  I have even changed the black, cleaned cartridge and print head alignment, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, but nothing solved the problem.  I was wondering if the color management profile has something to do with it.  Help, please!

    Thank you!

  • HP Officejet 8500 a e-all-in-one: Officejet 8500 A progressively less black ink prints

    Greetings,

I have an Officejet 8500 a e-all-in-one, which was a little finiky when it print black ink. It prints well in the morning and for most of the day, but sometimes late in the afternoon, it will print progressively less black ink until it stops completely. When he is left alone during the night, it will start printing without any problems again in the morning. The amount that we will print does not seem to have an effect. It will do the days where we printed almost anything just as often we are printing constantly throughout the day.

There is a laptop connected via the USB port and two other people who connect via radio. A computer has 10 64 - bit Windows, Windows 64 - bit to 8.1, the last is a macbook. Printing problems are are produced through two connections.

There is no problems with the ink cartridges, they are brand new and in Full ink levels report.

The printer has aligned the printheads several times with success.

I ran to the printhead cleaning several times and it had no effect.

I took the print heads and cleaned the contacts on the back and in the machine.

There has been no error on machines or computers.

At this point I'm not sure if it's a matter of ink clogged or if it is somehow overheating.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 has problem with black ink printing

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 a printer. When I print documents, it will not print anything in black ink. The colors work very well, but just black will not print. The printer says that the black ink cartridge has plenty of ink, and when I shake it, I can say that there is something in there. So, I don't think it's a question of black ink out. Is there a chance that something is blocking the ink out? Any patches for this in addition to the purchase of a new ink cartridge?

  • OfficeJet 6100 Wireless: default print to hp officejet 6100

I have an officejet 6100 on a WiFi network with a computer using Windows 7 and the other stuck with Windows 8.1.  On the Windows 7 machine, I can set the default value of printing from the choice of the printer control panel.   It is Only/Draft of black ink, and the settings are retained.  The other machine is Windows 8.  When we the printer (Control Panel) on the setting of the aboves, they returned to a stop settings / Normal grayscale.  This means that everything is printed in color and not the project unless we do not forget to change the settings before printing. How can I get the settings Windows 8.1 by default Black Ink Only/Draft machine?

On the Windows 8 machine follow these steps: in Control Panel click devices and printers.  Right-click on the Officejet 6100 series and select Printing Preferences.  Click the paper/quality tab, select quick print of project quality, apply.  Then click on the tab color and check printing in grayscale and check the Black Cartridge Print selection only, apply.  Now you can also make a new print task Quick Set, type something like project - black only, Save, OK.

At this point, the default should be project with black only.  Note that some programs may keep their default values.

  • Photosmart 6520: HP Photosmart 6520 does not black ink print

I ran through the steps on the troubleshooting http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03954004 page and it did not work. I know similar questions have been asked and have "answered", but I have found no solution that worked for me. The printer was working fine earlier this week, and all of a sudden, it would not print black ink. I went out and bought a new black ink cartridge and that does not work either. It was the same problem that led me to replace my HP Officejet 6500 I loved tenderly. I need an all-in-one for my work, but I can't afford to buy a new after spending the money on this one. The warranty just ran out last month and I need help to solve this problem, because I'm not buying a new HP if it is a problem that all have the all-in-one. Other family memebers suggest Epson printers, but I love HP and wants to stick to what I know.

    Please help me.

You mean by 'options', to have bought an upgrade right? Because I just got the phone with them and they me nothing that HP will make becaue it's out of warranty. So, build a defective product to force the new buy, is that correct?

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium: HP Officejet 6700, black ink fades

I had my bonus of 6700 Officejet for over a year, so it's just more under warranty. About 3 days ago, out of the blue, the black ink started fading out if I printed a page with a lot on it. It does the same thing if I copy something. (I'm only printing in black). It acts as the ink runs not to the head, or heads are partially blocked upward. It's a new cartridge, but it worked when I first got him. I cleaned and aligned the head several times, without success. Thing I can do short of buying a new printer?

In the paper here troubleshooting steps can help solve the black print is not correctly on your Officejet printer 6700.

  • OfficeJet 6500 black ink

I have a HP Officejet 6500 wireless that does not print color only black ink

    Solutions/similar problem?

    Recently did it start?

Did you recently change a cartridge?

I also try to take the cartridge from the printer and make sure that the air holes are open.  In addition, make sure that electrical contact is clean on the cartridge and the printer print head.

There are a document, as well, with steps to help solve a problem of print quality in the Officejet 6500 E709n wireless.  The document can be found here.

If you get to step on replacing the printhead, then there need determine if the printer is under warranty.  That it is an E709n, I guess that it is out of warranty.  If you are out of warranty, then you still have a few options in this case.

    (1) we can try the workaround provided by Bob_Headrick in the thread found here.

    (2) you can also buy the print head from HP for the E709n parts store.  The part number for the print head is CN643a for the Officejet 6500 E709n wireless.  The print head sells currently for about US $70.

    (3) you can buy a new printer.  This option would be accompanied by a new full factory warranty.

    I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet 4500 black ink

I have an Officejet 4500 G510n-z, all-in-one wireless. yesterday, it was working fine until my daughter tried to print photos. I replaced the black ink cartridge and now I get absolutely no print black at all.  It worked fine when I used it earlier in the day. I tried ALL of the troubleshooting options, and even tried a second cartridge.  Still NOT PRINTING BLACK.  It will not even produce black ink when you make the alignment of cartridges.  Any ideas?  It is more under warranty, purchased in March 2011.  Very saddened by this.

OK, if valuable lesson learned.  USE ONLY THE HP CARTRIDGES.  2 black cartridges tried to use were from an online retailer of "HP compatible ink cartridges.  Just got back from Walmart with a HP cartridge.problem resolved.

  • OfficeJet 3830: Black ink does not dry printhead upward after a few days,

I had a problem where the black ink cartridge has dried to the level of the holes and would not print. I have it soaked in water / alcohol and got it to work and it printed fine, but 4 days later, it was dried again.

Soaking in water / alcohol it fixed, well, maybe the problem is where the print run the Park. Are there not a sponge, or something?

What can I do to fix?

    Thank you

PS, the color ink prints fine with something of dipping or other necessary. In addition, these are HP ink cartridges. I bought the new printer around February 2016.

  • DeskJet 3522 does no black ink print

I got a new DeskJet 3522 for just a few months, when I tried to print a PDF file yesterday, black ink started to print very, very faintly, and then completely disappeared.  I guess I was out of ink, so I bought a new HP black cartridge.  When changing the cartridge, the ink level showed a black ink left, but in any case, I changed the cartridge.  The new cartridge does not print also.  He still has a lot of ink in the color cartridges and it shows a totally black cartridge.  Displays the level of the cartridge are generally accurate?  Have I not a new cartridge defective?  What is the problem?  Thank you.

  • problem with the black ink printing

I have a printer HP C309g-m and I just installed a new XL Black ink cartridge, but now, the smaller black cartridge is empty and my documents not print! Should the two black ink cartridges have ink to print? If this is not the case, how can I get my printer to print? Thanks in advance! ...

Yes, Teacher422, I'm afraid, it is necessary to have regular and black Black photo in the printer to clear the error message.  I've heard of people pushing a button four times (I think that's the question mark) to get beyond the error message but when I tried this tip supposed to a different printer than the one you couldn't recreate it.  To the best of my knowledge, I don't know any other tips.  I just read another thread on this exact printer today and he confirmed this information.  I would like to be more help!  Let me know if you have any other questions.
