  Hello

  My problem is with a Hp Officejet 4500 g series all-in-one.

  So I got a fax coming thru today and it spits out a blank page. I thought it was weird that he actually sent a white sheet through rather than give an error "ink", so I tried to make a copy to see what would happen... same thing, the white sheet.

  I bought a new ink cartridge (black HP901) and installed IT... same thing, white paper.

  I have tried since:

  Restart the computer

  Printer cleaning cartridge

  Support of HP running tool (says it all worked very well)

  Reinstalled drivers

  And nothing solves the problem.

  I tried to contact support, but apperantly you can get online or telephone help you if you have a product that is old enough to not work, so I checked the forums and I see a lot of people say they have this exact problem with many HP printers of different model (including 4500 series). What no one seemed to have are answers that corrects the problem. At this point, my guess is that the solution to this is the same solution to most of the other problems HP which is not to buy HP products.

  If somehow, someone has found a way to solve this problem, I'm guessing a lot out of me would love to hear how.

  If the printer produced before blank prints, it is possible the Tricolor flag and the black were empty. If only the black cartridge has been changed, the printer lacks color ink in the printer to perform a correct alignment.

  just in case someone else has this problem, heres whats really past and heres how to fix this annoying problem. its relatively easy to do and more efficient than wasting money on a new printer or have that he repaired as most people eventually do.

  (14) remove the ink cartridges and put them on the paper plate, side ink to avoid a mess, these things sometimes drip. put the plate side. its time to clean the print heads.

It blows with water too. Then, turn it over and wipe the head again. Repeat this step until no fades or until you are sick and tired.

  (19) shake, then use paper towels to dry the entire unit.   I just changed the black ink cartridge today because he missed. I put in a geniune, brand new, HP black ink cartridge. Print the page alignment and the black ink was very uneven/faded.   I have exhausted the alignment and clean the print head options with no fix. However, I found a page on HP (a little hidden and I can not find yet) who said to get out the black cartridge and place the face upward all night. I did that last night, put in this morning and boom, new black ink printing!

Does this mean I need to replace the print head?

  Our small office now has an Officejet 4500 a few months without any problems. Today, it stopped printing any black ink.

I then replace the black cartridge with a new cartridge 920XL, thinking that the original could be defective. Same as before results! I (1) printed to a printer status report (2) print a print quality diagnostics page, (3) aligned the print heads and (4) cleaned the print heads, all to nothing does not. I even carefully cleaned the container for the black cartridge with a Q-Tip to collect a small amount of excess ink. Color cartridges are printing very well but the black cartridges will not print. (Either by the way, it seemed to happen suddenly, not gradually). I would be sincerely acknowledging all recommendations to solve this problem.

  The Officejet being able to print colors without problems when compared with the computer, we have a path take it now. Try to reset the system of printing on Mac, this will delete the printer drivers, when return adding that it will be the default settings. Mac OS x: how to reset the printing system will guide you if you have not done this before.

  Now that the printer drivers are deleted, repair disk permissions on the computer. Download and install this: v.2.16.1 for OS X HP printer drivers and add your printer. There should be no reason why the printer would not print color of the computer.

  I installed the complete software of features on an Alienware laptop.  The printer is connected to my router wireless via an ethernet cable.  When I try to add the printer, the software identifies the printer, contact the printer, but after completing 50% of installation I get the big red 'X' with Setup failed failed message.  repeated tests end up with the same result.  Tried two doctor scanning and printing and Printer Setup Wizard and both recognize the printer but will not be in place.  the installation wizard cancels download immediately after the start, while the doctor print and scan refer me to the site to install full software that puts me to the square.

  In the reconstruction of the hard drive on my Alienware Laptop M11, I think I've identified the software that caused the problems.  I installed windows Basic, then immediately installed the HP Officejet software without any problems.  However, as I have installed other software I discovered that "Cyberline Youcam" software seemed to have removed the printer and a fax from my list of installed devices.  I removed the Cyberlink software and managed to reinstall printer/fax devices.  You might want to leave HP company know so that they can continue the investigation.  Thanks again for the help.

  The lines are clearly visible and look like, they are caused by the inkt not bleeding very well through the paper. In this case I advise to use another document. I checked the HP website for you and HP recommend the advanced use of paper. If any kind of HP Advanced paper will do, either gloss or high gloss as long as it's the HP Advanced line.
