OfficeJet HO 5740: analysis via "Scan" printer ikon does not find the computer

When I try to scan to a file using the ikon of screen touch printers and after selecting the computer I want to test results from the screen "Select computer", "access to the computer" in the following error message:

"The selected computer is not available. Make sure that:

> Computer is on. [it is]

> The computer and the printer are connected with a USB cable properly [they are].

> The recommended HP Print software is installed and configured on the computer [I used the installation disk that came with the printer].

Search the computer for more information".

I get this error message select regardless of format (PDF, JPEG, Email, etc.)

The other functions of the touch screen seems to work normally.

With the help of HP Printer Wizard installed on the PC to ask the printer to scan works without problem, but I find much easier if I could use the printer display.

Thanks for your reply. Although your proposed solution has not worked as expected with my model - Officejet 5740. The option "Manage the Scan to Computer" is still not available in the HP printer Assistant. However, I thought I'd give the on-screen touch printer another chance: and it works now.     In the print menu, check "scale to fit media" under the Position and size of the device and then check out.

    If you want the area selected for printing, check "Print selected area" under the Position and size and specify the size.

    I just bought the above printer and tried to put in place. I had it works from a windows vista PC if the functionality is all ok, but the screen on the printer itself will not move beyond the screen saying "retail demo" on the lower left and "set" in a blue box on the lower right.

  • Vista recognizes the printer but does not load the drivers - error 0x000003eb

    Have even tried to load drivers generic, just to see if it works, no chance.  I have on other computers with XP Pro on them and they picked it up, drivers loaded and works very well, but Vista is a different game. Tried plugging USB and gives the same error. Add a printer recognizes it, but it does not load the drivers. I can type the IP address of the printer and use a little from there prints 3 pages of a point, two pages are all kinds of different characters, it waste paper.

    Microsoft has looked everywhere and they want me to pay for OS problems out there and I'm not a fact. Program there is the problem that they should back is no Vista how the wrong subject.

    Please try to use an alternative driver steps and let me know if this helps,

    Open Control Panel, and then select devices and printers.

    My HP Officejet 6500 Wireless only all-in-One does not print from my main computer. I can scan from this computer and print them from others. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers, restarted the queue, run the scan doctor and get error error unknown/deviece.  I have disabled the firewall unplugged abd and repluged the power to the printer.

    Any thoughts?

  • 3520 connected usb printing but do not recognize the computer for the scans

    DeskJet 3520 used to scan to the computer.  The name of the computer used to happen on the screen of the printer when a scan of the computer asked.  It does not now.  I can't scan from the computer either.

    I am still able to print.

    I deleted all the programs associated with the printer and reinstalled everything from the Web site. Twice.

    Still, this has not fixed the problem.  I'm not very computer savy, but I'm sure that I did not interfere with the settings of the printer.

    I desperately need help... I have a photosmart 5520 printer all in one for more than a year, it is set up wireless with my laptop HP and up to today, it worked perfectly. I changed the ink cartridges yesterday and did a print and everything was fine. Today, I can't see the printer on my laptop... it has simply disappeared.
