OfficeJet Pro 6230: Print head: missing, defective or Incompatible

I have a 3 month old printer Officejet 6230 Pro who now will not be printed.  I get this message: "print head: missing, defective or Incompatible.

I tried:

(1) the printer reset

(2) I have genuine HP cartridges

(3) removed, cleaned and replaced cartridges

(4) Firmware update

I cannot perform a "print head cleaning" or something like that.  I get the message "printer is busy. Try again later. »

What else can I try?  How can I get this printer working again?

This problem has been resolved.  Chat with support.  They ship me a replacement printer

If you still receive the error message after you perform the steps in troubleshooting mentioned in the document, then try cleaning print head in the printer menu.

Installation Menu - Tools - cleaning print head

Configure the Menu - Tools - align printer.

If none of these help then try this reset... This reset will restore the printer to its factory settings & will clear all the settings of the printer.

Unplug the cord from the back of the printer while the printer is always enabled.

Now hold "# & 9 ' buttons on the printer and connect the power chords while pressing the 2 keys. Wait 10 seconds, then release the keys.

If the printer turns off automatically, then wait for 10secs. and then turn on the printer using the power button on the printer.

    I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet pro 8500: print heads and things

OK, maybe it's a bit confusing. I have three printers Officejet 8500. No. 1 went into a never-ending cycle of clean print heads (after more than 30,000 pages) and without me being in the room the right side of the printer depot of ink on the table. Tried the reset but not good. Bought a second hand and after a few weeks, it came in paper jam mode. Could not resolve so finally bought number three. Works a treat and has no problem. Numbers one and two are for recycling. Print heads removed and stored in an airtight box with damp cloth. What is staging. Now after spending all that money, the last thing I want, it's having problems with number three. However, I have three cartridge sets new and unopened from PC World (their own brand) which cost £39. They came with the number two of the machine. They are not dated and has no way to know at what age they are. They are not oem, I can't any advice on their likely performance, but what worries me, is can the ink begins to solidify and block print heads as they age? Like I said they are still sealed. If I change the cartridge and use a spare set of the print heads to check the print output and that something is wrong if I can swap cartridges and print heads back without the printer enter the cycle of constant head cleaning. I know there have been issues with these printers but mine is on 27 000 pages and all tests are reports back in good health. I have also several chips of HP cartridges genuine that I can use.  Sorry as that a little long-winded.

    Hello @notahappybunny,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand that you have some questions and concerns about your ink cartridges non OEM 8500 and some.

    I would like to help.

The following document explains on the expiry of the ink.

Consumable inkjet HP - ink Expiration

From what I've read, it's I think I understand that the ink may change over time.

Because ink is sealed I don't think they're going to solidify, but the pigment used in the ink may eventually separate from water. This will certainly cause print quality problems.

In addition, your first 8500 printhead might not be good.

A bad print head may cause the impression of entering the cycle without end cleaning.

I hope that I have answered your question.

    Hi @Steve150951,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

While doing some research, it is essentially the only way to get the impression transport move above. You can try to disconnect again, press on and hold the power button on the printer for at least 10 seconds (it drains any excess power it can hold) and then try again.

If it still does not move, the transport can be taken on something or something could be taken in this regard. This stall Transport document may help in getting it to move as it will advise where to check for jams/obstructions.

I would like to know how it goes for you

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 prints incorrect color photo

My new Officejet pro 8500 prints once accuate color. But then, when I print another photo that is Lavender in color.

I restarted. I reinstalled it. The problem still persists. What else can I try?

    Gibas

    Hello Gibas,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

It might be possible that the poor quality of the image when printing with the 8500 is due to print heads. Given that you have uninstalled, restarted, etc it may be preferable to focus on them.

You can try to clean the print heads, this guide will show you the correct way to clean: "the following printhead appears to be missing or corrupt" or "the following printhead has a problem" Message displays on the all-in-one.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6230: Officejet Pro 6230 continous (not of paper) paper jam error

As soon as the printer powers on it the ink carrier Wizz backward real quick (as he struggles to move) and then gives me a paper jam error (the resume light flashes and error appears on my screen). He did the same thing when I try to print anything (including the status report page).

When I up the access panel upward (power on), the carrier of ink isn't even move to ink cartridges which can be changed. I try to move with force, but it does not move (if I use more strength, somethings will break). Ink is a bit new, so I don't know it still has ink in there.

    The steps I've tried:

plugged the power supply into the wall outlet

    roller cleaning

THERE IS NO PAPER or PAPER PIECES BETWEEN ROLLERS (I checked like 20 times)

    reset the printer

There is a large black gear coupled to a white average speed on the left side near the bottom of the printer. I manually drove the speed by pressing (rotation) of North (or forward or to the rear of the printer) for a few seconds and once I did that. the ink carrier was able to move as it's supposed to, and I could see the ink. but once the power is back on, the carrier of ink was in the locked position and fights again and gives me the paper jam error.

I don't have really any troubleshooting documents on the CV online on how to fix a jammed media of ink and clearing paper jams, so I'm out of options.

    It is plugged into USB

The main problem is the paper jam error.

I don't know if the stuck carrier of ink is the cause.
