OfficeJet Pro 860: 860 constantly paper jam Pro

We have a wireless connection on our new printer. Since this printer, we constantly get the error message "paper jam - remove rear etc...". There is no paper jam. We have reloaded drivers. We must constantly turn the printer off and on again to get it working. Is it a problem to know, what can we do? Thank you

Hello @VictoriaAUS,

Thanks for dropping by the HP's Support Forums! I see that you get an error message "Paper jam" on your HP Officejet Pro 8600. You have removed the back and do not see any paper inside.

First of all, go ahead and perform a hard reset:

1. disconnect all cables and cards of memory in the printer.  Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.

2. unplug the other end of the power cord.

3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

4. at the end of 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup).

5. connect the power cord to the back of the printer.

6. the printer should automatically power back upward.  If not, turn it on with the power button.

7. try to make a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.

8. connect the other cables needed to the printer.

It is recommended that the printer is plugged directly into a wall socket to ensure a uniform level of power.  Sometimes, when plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, the quantity of electricity is not received by the printer.  Power problems can cause printing problems.  It is particularly important to be plugged directly into a wall outlet with wireless connectivity problems, "sleep mode" and other power problems.

You still see the error? If so, please try to update the printers Firmware. Start here: get printer updates

Let me know the results. I'll watch for your reply.

Just say thank you, please click the ' Thumbs Up ' button.

  • Signal repeated on Officejet 6310 all-in-One paper jam

My all-in-one OfficeJet 6310 repeatedly says "Paper jam" when there is no paper jam, and I have to keep pressing OK until the printer prints.  Sometimes the back panel pops out and I have to re - insert.  Sometimes the paper (I use HP paper) feeds wrong on one side and jams.  Usually before the printer indicates "Paper jam" there is a dull inside, as if the printer is going through a series of internal cycles. Then a blank sheet of paper feeds through.  This printer, renovated, was sent to me by HP as a replacement in 2007.  It works fine on the copy, scan and fax.  Printing is the big problem.  All the answers?  I can't see all pieces of paper or something in the printer.  I use a HP Pavilion Notebook PC DV4307cl with Windows XP.

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709N always says paper jam

I just started using this printer, purchased a while ago but just unpacked and installed today 11/06/12, after setting up the wireless feature, I printed 5 pages, after that the printer says "paper jam" and "dropping out of paper. I went through all the steps of the research of and clearing paper jams, it is there absolutely nothing stuck anywhere. This is very worrying, I need a reliable printer, but it seems that I bought a weight of $180.00.

Any help what to look for then would be useful. I'm looking for a new job and need this thing to work for printing my RESUME, I can't afford right now to replace his new already for petes sake.

After going round in circles for about 8 hours on this printer, decided to open it and see what was going on. Once I found the sequence of disassembly appropriate to cross, checked all the gear, and then began to look for broken wire or bad connections. Found that a thread going feeding main motor was poorly welded on and fell while he was printing the initial pages I want to print. Resoldered the wire on with solder, reassembled the printer, did a full reset, works like a champ now.

  • Printer OfficeJet HP6600 having phantom paper jam message

My 6600 OfficeJet printer displays a starting paper jam message ' remove the rear access panel... ". "The problem is that I've never had a paper jam and there is absolutely no paper anywhere which is the origin of the jam.  I turned off using three different methods open the door of each service, and this error message still appears.   I can't pass this message to make a test print.

All the cylinders seem well and ink cartridges are fine.   Any help would be appreciated.

As a result of the issue of paper jam, I ended up calling HP support and they could not solve the problem.  They sent me a new printer and everything works again.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6230: Officejet Pro 6230 continous (not of paper) paper jam error

As soon as the printer powers on it the ink carrier Wizz backward real quick (as he struggles to move) and then gives me a paper jam error (the resume light flashes and error appears on my screen). He did the same thing when I try to print anything (including the status report page).

When I up the access panel upward (power on), the carrier of ink isn't even move to ink cartridges which can be changed. I try to move with force, but it does not move (if I use more strength, somethings will break). Ink is a bit new, so I don't know it still has ink in there.

    The steps I've tried:

plugged the power supply into the wall outlet

    roller cleaning

THERE IS NO PAPER or PAPER PIECES BETWEEN ROLLERS (I checked like 20 times)

    reset the printer

There is a large black gear coupled to a white average speed on the left side near the bottom of the printer. I manually drove the speed by pressing (rotation) of North (or forward or to the rear of the printer) for a few seconds and once I did that. the ink carrier was able to move as it's supposed to, and I could see the ink. but once the power is back on, the carrier of ink was in the locked position and fights again and gives me the paper jam error.

I don't have really any troubleshooting documents on the CV online on how to fix a jammed media of ink and clearing paper jams, so I'm out of options.

    It is plugged into USB

The main problem is the paper jam error.

I don't know if the stuck carrier of ink is the cause.
