Welcome to the community of HP @BARBEO,

It is possible to configure your HP Officejet Pro 8600 to fax, however, fax can be used through your wireless network, so the printer will be connected with a telephone cord. Below, I've posted a link to a document that has some instructions on how to configure the functionality of your HP Officejet Pro 8600 fax. Please try all the steps in order and get back to me with the results.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Receiving fax nobody's just get lines

He works very well, but today when I sent a fax, they received what it takes in lines (such as a bar code).  I have tried a different fax number and they have had the same problem.

    Hi @Jazoola

These lines appear when you copy or scan too? You have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is this a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have used a surge protector/power bar this whole time and you feel that this is not the case, please connect to a wall outlet so that we can eliminate the source of energy as the primary cause.   Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power

In this document, you will see, QUESTION: questions or problems may arise when a HP LaserJet printer is connected to a UPS (UPS), a power strip or a surge protector

↑ This is not limited to the Laserjet printers.

We will perform a hard reset. To do this, leave the printer and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, press and hold the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release built his power, then after the minute, plug the printer in.

In addition, please click the appropriate link below to make sure that the printer has the latest firmware update. This update of the firmware can improve the performance of the printer and fix various defects.

    Hi @Paula15,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you have found a cartridge problem message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I'm happy to discuss this issue for you!

Please have a look through this guide, an 'ink cartridge failure', not 'compatible ink cartridges', or 'Ink cartridge problem' Error Message appears on the printer. You will want to ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges does not, and if one of your colors is low or empty, they will need to be replaced as well. Check out this guide, printing with depleted cartridges, for more information.

Hope this information is useful and have a beautiful day!

I came across your message on several pages of food through your Officejet 8600 and wanted to pop in to help. I would like to see you link below and try the steps in the order for that matter. • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 no FAX OF the COMPUTER

Hi, when trying to fax from the computer, apparently nothing is happening...

    Steps-

    Intended to document on screen

    Select Print

    Choose printer 8600 FAX

    Dialog (seems even PRINT)

    After hitting OK, nothing happens.

I assumed that the box should appear asking where I want to send either right when I select print via 8600 Fax, or right afterwards?

Works ok / can fax directly from glass all-in-one.

A ran utilities print and Scan doctor and says that everything is ok. But does not list the FAX as a separate printer.

When I check the fax under devices and printer, no documents are in the print queue.

Suppose he need some sort of update driver or reintall?

    Running Windows 7, 64 bit.

    Thank you!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus connection problem - HELP!

I have a strange problem: after a few hours, the communication link fell between the computer and the printer.  In this case, IE becomes unusable and not connect what either.  It is replicated on three XP Home machines.   The fourth, a vista ultimate machine, doesn't seem to be affected (yet).  I get the error "the computer scan is disabled.  It cannot be reactivated.  At this stage I can't print.  I can reach the web server embedded on the printer via firefox and can still surf using firefox.  I can ping the printer, but again, once the connection is dropped, no printing or scanning the computer.  The only thing I found that solves this problem (temporarily) is to restart the computer, which starts the cycle again.

last night, I installed the software on a XP machine and the laptop to test when the connection has been lost.  They lasted from 19:00 on Monday until what I came at 17:00 Tuesday.  The machines were not used.  Once I started using (firefox only), and then they abandoned the connection in a half hour apart around 19:00.  The other XP machine lasted from 19:00 until 07:00 TUE MON, when my wife started to use it and then noticed he fell somewhere between 7 and 09:00 on Tuesday.  A 11:00 TUE restart ran OK until 22:00 Tuesday when the connection has been broken again (and IE is now dead).   The Vista machine works since 19:00 Monday (930 pm TUE) so far and seems to hold.

printer cable, at 100-a lot of router link speed, IP address static, (also tried 10-half)

    router dlink di-655

two XP machines are wired, vista is wired and last xp machine is a laptop on the wireless.

I exchanged cables, rebooted and reinstalled several times.  I have a file a long mile on the telephone support line.  They couldn't remedy.  I asked this to escalate, but who knows when I will get an answer.

I have enabled firewall - integrated XP

    I uninstalled the antivirus software

I even put in place with support like crazy suggestions change the channel of the router (uh, it's wired!)

an xp machine had a 4215 AIO connected via the USB port and the other prints to him via the network, but the printer was deleted machines on a network.

I can ping 127.0.0.1, which is supposed to indicate that the tcp service is OK.

I do not have reset winsock... I see a machine being bad, but three?

malware / virus scan shows no problem.  Once again one perhaps, but three?

The only thing I can think is that there is something in the network stack XP which is in conflict with the new software of 8600 hours pass.  There may be an operation of the poll which lights up then dies after a while, then he kills IE he is dying.

When the printer works it's great, but the restart is not a permanent solution to this.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  I am confused and therefore support.  They send him to the genius, but who knows when they will answer.

    Thanks in advance.

Our investigation into this issue, we found a workaround solution that will help with this.

    Follow the steps below.

    1. Please go to Hp software-> Printer Preferences - > Maintenance-> advanced settings tasks

2 selects the second radio under 'Alerts Show', 'don't show me alerts ink when printing.

    3. now restart your PC to make sure that the setting is saved.

    Enclosed is the screen.

Here's a useful support document that can also help.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Fax 'answers' in case of normal phone...

I have my Officejet pro 8600 value fax NO response.  But when in phone... via phone calls connected to the phone in the back of the printer... and the line connected to the line port... the fax machine "will answer", which is to connect to the line and interrupt the phone call, I'm... NOT when the phone rings but after a few minutes into the call.  I have to click X on the touch screen on the printer or turn it off in order to retrieve the call.  Does it randomly but quite often to be a BIG problem.  I make sure that the printer is turned off unless I need to print.

    This sounds like a defect?

No problem.  Hope that works according to a straight line.
