  I have my Officejet pro 8600 value fax NO response.  But when in phone... via phone calls connected to the phone in the back of the printer... and the line connected to the line port... the fax machine "will answer", which is to connect to the line and interrupt the phone call, I'm... NOT when the phone rings but after a few minutes into the call.  I have to click X on the touch screen on the printer or turn it off in order to retrieve the call.  Does it randomly but quite often to be a BIG problem.  I make sure that the printer is turned off unless I need to print.

  My fax machine is currently set to 'Fax to Network Folder', but I would like to change this to 'Fax to Email. I went to the Fax tab and clicked on the HP digital Fax Wizard to try to change the 'Fax to Network Folder' to 'Fax to Email' but I cannot find anywhere how to do this.

  It only allows me to disable the HP digital fax or fax to network folder.

  I don't know if this helps, but I have configured alerts to e-mail through EWS/settings/Email Alerts, which seems to work fine. If the printer can send emails.

  The HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) support only the digital repository (Scan or E-mail) to a network folder.

  Only the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus / Premium models provide the specific functionality.

  is this possible?

  I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 software and unfortunately can not print any document double face of any program.  While I can easily print the documents double-sided on other computers running earlier versions of windows, it doesn't seem to be any option to do it at all on my laptop.

  I see that this problem has been resolved with the older versions of windows, but solutions are not easy to follow in windows 8.1. Here are my stats from the printer and thanks a lot for your help!

  I understand that you have a problem with duplexing in Windows 8.1. I'll try my best to help you solve this problem.

  Because the printer print double-sided on the lower version of Windows, it may be the software and drivers installed on the Windows 8.1.  I suggest to uninstall the printer software , then using the printer HP install wizard for Windows to install. This tool will search for the right software and drivers to install for your printer.

  Once you have reinstalled here is a document for printing on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) with adjustment steps upwards and double-sided printing.

  I just replaced the black ink cartridge (the other colors are exhausted and still in the machine) but I want to just print in black, but it won't let me - please advise

  This isn't what you want to hear, but you will need to replace the color cartridges as well.  The 8600 Pro Officejet has separate ink supplies and a replaceable (but expensive) print head.  If the printer works (in black only) with one or more color exhausted it can damage the print head.  To avoid damaging the printer hangs printing if one or several colors are exhausted.

  Literally, this began to happen today! I can print anything because of this crazy white blank strip on the side of the pages. Why is this happening? This is a screenshot SO it has nothing to do with the printer itself. Right after I do a draw and the screen comes back I see this and this is exactly how it prints. I did not change a thing. All my HP ink and my printer is not 'dirty '.

  I can't say with certainty what goes wrong in this case since there are a few possible explanations of these vertical striations.

  We have a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 8600 operating from a desktop HP with Windows 7. Recently, in the last two weeks my wife told me, we cannot print photos. The documents appear to be printed without a problem, but when trying to print a photo we get a window titled 'Send Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8600'. We have never used or even hung fax capablitly since we have owned this printer (maybe 2-3 years). All of a sudden, this window is displayed when we try to print a photo and the photo does not print.  I can't tell you that my wife did not hit accidentally a wrong button somewhere down the line, but she says she does not. I tried to attach a screenshot of the window, but for some reason that it does not take it. It's probably something very simple, but technically challenged myself, I can't understand. Help, please.

  Print picture of what program?  Some programs to keep their own default values for the printer.  It seems that the default printer for the printing of the photo program has been set to Fax.  Try to open the program, select the Officejet Pro 8600 as the printer rather than the Officejet Pro 8600 fax.

  Open the HP Officejet Pro 8600 software and click on the Scan option document or photo.

  Select PDF, check the box show the preview and the resolution defined as 300 dpi or less.

  I can't print from email, I can print PDFS and all documents in word or excel, but not email.  I reinstall the software and the same thing happens.  All of the suggestions. Officejet Pro 8600 Plus with Windows 7 using.

  How to access your e-mail?

  * Do you connect to a service of e-mail via a web browser?

  * Or you are using a client such as MS Outlook e-mail software?

  If you log on to an e-mail via a web browser client, then you do in Internet Explorer?  Have you tried multiple browsers to ensure that the problem does not follow?
