OfficeJet Pro 8600: USB connected OfficeJet Pro 8600: scanning on a network: is it possible?

Hello world.

I have a 8600 OfficeJet Pro connected to a computer via the usb port. This computer is running Windows 7 Professional and is connected to an ethernet network.

The printer is shared with other computers (currently running either Win & and XP Pro) connected to the network can view and print to the printer without problem. However, there is no option for network computers to scan from the 8600. This option is available on the computer that is connected to the printer via the USB port.

Network scanning is possible even if, in this configuraiton or if the printer must be connected to the network via ethernet or Wi - Fi to take advantage of this feature?

Thank you.

It is better to simply connect a network cable from the printer or turn on wireless (so both as a printer usb to the computer and the printer to network for the rest).

  • Cannot install Officejet Pro 8500 A910 on the network in my laptop Windows XP

    Resolved, not resolved.

I talked to HP technical support. The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 will not install on Windows XP (at least the home edition) when networked through a router. It will install via USB. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled with only USB connected to clear all printer/scanner of network information. Product support claimed it would install through an ether net cable connected between the printer and the computer, but it does little good if you need internet access.

  • HP Pro P1102w: Try to use a USB connection P1102w or wireless

I use two desktops.  #1 is Windows XP, old enough, with not more than network connection.  When I got my P1102w, it was setup by using your computer and the USB connection.  #2 computer is Windows 7 64-bit, with wireless capabilities.  Until that time, my router was created to be unsecured, no password.  With the new Windows 7 online, I decided to be cautious, and so I got the router with a password.  At that point, I lost the ability the P1102, apparently because wireless that I couldn't understand how to teach to enter the password.  It still works very well for the USB/XP connection.  I just lost a Canon Pixma ip90v printer due to old age and the hardware failure is apparent.  I have a new Canon's Pixma ip110, which has wireless capability.  I decided to get the router access straightened out before trying to hang another printer wireless.

The fact that my USB connection comes from a computer with no network could make it difficult to set up the P1102 for the wireless.  Should I move my USB to Windows 7 computer to get the network and printer configure everything, and give them the USB for XP so that I can print it from there?  I also have a laptop I want to use wireless with two printers, if I can get all the parameters as I want.

    Hi @Dave-P1102w ,.

I see you are having problems setting up the printer again on the network with encryption. I will definitely do my best to help you.

I would like to reset the printer first to clear the previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, press and hold the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer on and do not release both buttons until the printer stops making the noise.

Print a configuration report and check the SSID address and IP are disabled.
    Print a Configuration Page.

Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Windows 7 computer.

Then, run the wireless configuration to configure the printer on the network again.

Go to start, all programs, HP, HP Laserjet P1102w, then select Wireless Network Configuration.

    Steps to configure the wireless.

    Then, unplug the USB cable.

Test the printer on the wireless network.

For the laptop, just run the wizard printer devices and printers. You will need the CD or you can simply connect the printer to the laptop and the Smart Automatic Install will load and install the printer.

If there is anything else I can help you, let me know.

    Good day!
    Thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 scans appear in white

    Hello

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 scan correctly, either from the document feeder or the dish. The scans appear almost totally blank, although some weak contours are barely visible along the top. Two computers use the scanner (Mac OS X 10.6.8 and 10.7.5) and both have the same problem. Any suggestion would be great!

    Hi ABverr,

A hard reset can solve this problem.  To do this, unplug the power cord at the back of the printer when the printer is still on.  Unplug the other end of the power cord.  After 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet, and then plug it into the back of the printer.  Try a scan.

If this does not help, I linked a document with measures to correct the problems of quality of scanning.  Click here

If the problems persist, you can download and run printing HP and doctor Scan.  Click here  Let me know the results.

  • Need help to set up officejet pro 8600 and scanning to the network on OSX Lion folder

    Hello

I'm trying to implement my Officejet Pro 8600 more scan to a network under OSX Lion folder.  I have correctly set up the printer otherwise (and can scan and flown from my Mac).  I created SMB sharing as described in the documentation.  My only question is what to enter in the Web server of the printer when it asks for the network path of the shared folder.

For example, I have the following shared folder:

    / Users/me/Documents/scans/Durable goods received

on my computer that has name is:

    My iMac

    has an IP address:

    172.16.1.4

wonder web server of the printer a network path (for example: \\mypc\sharedfolder) but I do not know how to translate my way above in the correct format.

    I tried the following:

    AFP://172.16.1.4//users/me/documents/scans/durable------Goods\ recipes

    but he doesn't like it.

    I also tried:

    Recipes of \\172.16.1.4\Users\bvz\Documents\scans\Durable of goods.

    Nothing helps.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

    Hello

First of all, make sure to install the latest firmware for the printer.

SMBX (used by Lion sharing protocol) support added lately, and the device fails to access any forlder Lion shared with an older FW version:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02919168

You have shared the folder durable goods received ?

If so, I guess the correct path would be as follows:

    \\172.16.1.4\Durable goods received

Please let me know of any changes,

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 + scan if there is no configuration for the network folder

The printer is wireless to my router and I connect to a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable.  The computer is running Windows 7SP1 Home Premium 64.

During the original installation of the printer 3 days ago, I used the wizard set up 'scan to a network folder' a record 'scans public '.  He created the 'profile' correctly and worked well the first time I scanned (I scanned the 3 or 4 times with different tweaks to experiment).  However the next day it no longer worked error on the printer was, 'could not connect to \\Computername\Public scan. Check that the remote computer is on. "Obviously, the computer was on, some communication problems only happened from one day to the next day, he was sitting unattended.  Hmmmmm.  Note that the option "Scan to Computer" works very well, so communication is simply no "scan to network folder" option and I really want to scan to a network folder.

I went in a private "Scans" folder on my account and created a share as 'DadsScans', creating permissions and following all the tips I've come across so far.  Then I tried many times with the wizard to create a new configuration in the profile and all have failed and yes I found the network and turned on file sharing.  Also remember that it worked fine the first night?

I tried to enter the local path to the folder (C:\users\dad\My analysis) with a share name (DadsScans), but the error message after choosing the option "test and save" was, "error.  Your printer cannot connect to the server.  Press 'Back' to correct the address and the name of the server.  Setting is not saved. »

I then tried to enter the share name directly in the path of the network folder, like "\\computername\DadsScans", but the error was "error.  Your printer cannot connect to the server.  Press 'Back' to correct the address and the name of the server.  Make sure that network discovery and file sharing are turned on... "Note, I also tried,"\\computer Address\DadsScans IP"and got the same error.

Finally, I disabled my firewall and my anti-virus in real time and tried again and got the same error messages.

Once again, my network discovery and file sharing are on and it worked fine the first time I've used suggesting that everything was fine.  What happened during the night, so that the printer and computer sitting idle?  I've changed NOTHING!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well well, after several hours of attempts to solve the problem, the 'light bulb went on!  The night after that I configured the "scan to network folder" option, we had some difficulties with our network so I reset our modem and DSL router.  Who cleaned the problems of network with devices.  It is apparently broke something with the communications between the scanner and the computer.  A simple re-start the computer tonight and wa - la, the original public scan I configure worked again and I could create new profiles of "scanning to '!

Thanks for any help / advice

    Hi etaf,.

I guess the short answer is: Yes, the problem with the software and the 3.0 Port.

The long answer with a possible work around is as follows: first of all, the software looks for minimum requirements. Because the software is older, he doesn't know what a 3.0 port. You are right when you say that it should work since you do not use the USB and use wireless instead, but this is not the case.

There is something we can try, but I can't guarantee it will work. I thought first we could connect a USB cable and run the software made to force the software to see the USB port, but then the software wouldn't even get far enough because you can't plug the cable to the most later in the installation.

My second thought and most promising suggestion is to connect the USB cable (although we do normally not until the software prompts us to) and use the installation wizard HP Print to get the insteaad of software to use the CD or download from the printer driver page. Still, I can't say with certainty that it works, but I don't see why it would not be worth a try.

If it works, and we get the software installed you can convert the USB connection to a wireless connection using the software. Fingers crossed! Download and run the with the following link. Printer HP install wizard for Windows

If this does not work, or you don't want to bother with it (not worth trying), I might consider getting a new model of the printer. You can even call HP. They might be able to offer a discount on a newer model. If you are in the Canada, U.S. dial 800-474-6836 or you can Contact HP worldwide.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 - scan to network?

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to set up scan to network folder/path directly using the Officejet Pro 6830? The option does not appear on the printer control panel and requires the computer to be turned on in order and this option for the analysis to cross successfully.

If not, are there plans to add this feature in a new version of s/w?

    Thank you

    Breleur

    HI Sylvain,.

The model HP Offiecjet 6830 Pro does not support scanning to a network shared folder.

For series Officejet Pro 8600 Officejet series manages this type of functionality, not the 6800 series.

I highly doubt such a feature will become supported in the future...

You can check the scanning to E-mail option of the printer, such only require the printer to connect to the network and need not the PC can be powered on:

    Hi DaleBr,

Any printer PCL3 as the Officejet Pro 8710, 8720 support only Photos of pritning from a USB (JPEG and BMP), it cannot print the document files such as ir PDF DOCX to a thumbdriver, but only to a computer...

The HP Envy 5660 only support printing Photos from a device memory too, but only from SD card, there are not any USB port for a USB.

None of the models above can only print from a computer or a mobile device...

  • OfficeJet 8600: scan of the computer does not work on mac officejet yosemite 8600

I tried the fix in the forum for the officejet which will not sweep with yosemite.    I used the driver for 8600 officejet Yosemite.   I restarted the router, computer and printer.  I also struggle with the print function.  Every day, I have to turn off the printer market to find the computer.  I have a macbook pro computer running OS X 10.10.2

It's very frustrating!  Help, please!  Thank you!!

    Hey there @texasjane!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I should be able to provide assistance with the issue between you and your Officejet 8600 scan Mac OS X 10.10. You mentioned that you have already installed the full features of HP Officejet 8600 software but still have no success.  Your also get some printing problems.  The Mac indicates that the printer is offline when you try to print?

Its possible that an update is available for the Mac on the HP software.  I recommend checking the Mac to make sure it's his print more up-to-date and scan drivers.  To check the updates simply click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen.  Once your in the Apple menu, select App Store.  Within the App Store, you can click updates at the top of the window.  Check and install the HP updates that may be available.

I suggest try to analyze using one of the construction in Mac as Capture of Image applications.  If there are problems with the HP on Mac 10.10 software then you may be able to bypass them with Image capture.  Image capture may be located in your Applications folder on a Mac.  You can also find it by linking the Image Capture in the Mac spotlight.  Spotlight is the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen.

If please, after back and let me know how it goes!

I hope this has been helpful!

  • Install HP Officejet 5740 & USB connection problems

I recently bought a HP all-in-one OfficeJet 5740 printer for my desktop Dell XPS 8700-(Windows 8.1) and attempted to install, using the USB connection option. I was informed by the instructions of configuration to go online to a Dell website for the latest version of the installation software to download if I had access to the internet. I have DL'ed software and it apparently installed OK-(aucune erreur ou quoi que ce soit pour indiquer qu'il n'a pas abouti). Once finished with the installation of the software, I got to the window option connection-(wireless, usb cable ethernet cable). I chose the option of usb cable, however after having to then connect the USB cable to the printer and the computer via the usb cable, it tries to connect, but alerted me, stating; "Failed connection to printer, printer was not able to connect successfully via the usb cable. I tried this several times-(par moi-même et remote assist avec Support ordinateur Dell). I had the same problem last week when he tried with my old HP Officejet 6100, which I wanted to replace. I ran the program of doctor printing/scanning HP on the 5740 and it lists the printer and the software installed, however the HP printer install lists assistant the complete software package for the printer is not installed and some basic features drivers may be missing or damaged. Also when I go into Control Panel, then devices/printers, it displays the icon of 5740, however after rt - by clicking on the printer icon, instead of the regular menu that comes up to the top-(showing the complete properties, select this printer as the default printer, etc.), it displays a menu of smaller selections very-little (who don't understand not the "select as default printer"). I tried downloading the printer software two ways-(via the HP website on line 1, and then click the installation CD supplied with the printer, the same results. The printer was purchased 11/15/2014 and seems works very well-(tirages test-page, page d'alignement, etc.), but I can't print anything, and apparently it can not connect via the USB-(* j'ai acheté un nouveau câble usb 2.0 hier et, utilisé pour écarter la possibilité d'avoir un mauvais câble). My Dell computer is only 10 months old, and I upgraded to 8.1 Windows back on 25 October.  The USB ports on the computer all seem to work properly when connected to another USB device other than the 5740 printer.  What is the software apparently is not fully installed, with some missing drivers or, possibly, USB drivers should be updated? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

  • Differences in use vs. Canon Pro-10 Wireless USB connected

To test my new Canon Pro-10 I have connected via the USB port, last night and printed with it.  The Quick Menu was "compliant" with all the bells and whistles that are showing in the 'corner' box  When I printed it gave me a lot of options for quality and the media - various types of paper, including Canon paper and other documents.  Now that I have connected successfully wireless, my paper options are limited to "photo paper" and "plain paper" and the corner box has only a few icons in and I get a message that a driver is missing for the Quick Menu.  I have re-installed Quick Menu on the Canon site and I still get this message.  Impressions, that I got last night via a USB connection were good - a bit dark but good quality.  I had chosen "another matte paper" because it was a brand of third parties.  Today, I used the same paper and printed one of the same images and it was greasy and completely unusable.  I went to Canon paper and print the same image.  It was much better, but way too dark to use.  I can probably modify the image to fix it, but I wouldn't not to...

VERY pleased with my Canon experience so far - use an Epson for 8 years, thought it was time for an upgrade and I wanted wireless due to constraints of space around my office.  I would not wait for wireless quality photo prints?

I have three of these printers in this line.  The 9000, 9500 II amd Pro-100.  Not a Pro-10, however.

They are all printed differently, but after a bit of tinkering with settings, they all did very well.  They are great printers.

First of all you do not leave the printer defined anything.  Cut each little out of control there.  You can do it with the Canon My Printer the printer settings tab.  Do you know how?  I think, Yes, for the moment, but if you don't come back to me.

Secondly, you must have your photo editor to manage all settings and corresponding color.  You know how to do this?

And finally, it is essential that you get some settings on your monitor which corresponds somewhat to the prints.  Your printer can do exactly what you say to do, and you don't know, it's because your monitor is turned off.  If you don't do this step, you can forget the other steps.  However, there are only a few things that must be addressed.  You don't need for any fancy additional modules to do this.  No also added or gadgets, etc.

But you must get very narrow gray-scale.  You must get very close brightness and you must close contrast.

Once you do these things, you can make adjustments to your impressions by looking at just your screen.  Because you know that the monitor and printer are on the same level.  Another point, you cannot get a printer to print all colors exactly as you saw.  It is not possible because all the colors and adjustment in effect all the others.  My goal is to get the right tones.  That's what notice more.

For example, I know that my most recent Pro - 100 tends to print darker than what I see on the screen.  So I automatically know to set it's prints a stop brighter in Photoshop, in my case.  It also prints with a warn a little tone.  Most of the time, with in particular, protraits cela if OK, but sometimes it is not.  In this case I set the 'temp' slightly cooler setting in PS.

Make sure that you have the correct ICC profile and that you are using Canon brand ink and paper until you get well with the printer.  Very, very important, otherwise you don't know if the printer does exactly what you say it or not.

In addition, use the USB connection until everything is just right.  You just add another problem when you try to configure printing a nd the wireless at the same time.  As the use of Canon branded products until it is gone.
