OfficeJet Pro 8610: officejet pro 8610, perfectly installed, but wont print

OK, so I installed the printer and connected wireless on my Vista 64 bit system. Connected perfectly but does not the computer print. I ran the print and scan doctor who suggested I uninstall and download the software directly from HP that I did. Same thing... perfectly installed but does not print. The test for fax and wireless the pass pages, configuration page Network displays connected too. The same printer downloaded directly one updated so I don't know that it is connected to my home network. But still when I try to print something directly from my computer I get the error "unable to communicate with the printer. Yes, the 8610 is my default printer and Yes, the blue wireless light is solid on the printer and yes I uninstalled it and reinstalled the software and yes I tried unpluging the printer from the wall and restart my computer. Scan DR erased all the tasks in the queue without conflicts... all green arrows, but when I click on print a test page... NOTHING. Internal test page prints. PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP BEFORE I RETURN THIS.

Oh and by the way, if I connect via the USB port, it prints and if I use the HP AIO application it prints my android devices... Cannot understand this

Thank you

Sheri

OK, so after hours of trying to understand it, in my opinion, I thought of it myself. It was not enough just to use the disc or download the software. I had to go to my control panel and click Add a printer, and then select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer, and follow the instructions with the disc from there. The computer then added a standard TCP/IP port, which did not previously exist. Now it prints. I deleted the installed printer before without the port and it works fine now. Hope this helps others. It would have been useful if HP has included this little trick from the beginning, that we should install the software directly from printer/Add Panel control, not the single disc. Hope this helps others.

  • After upgrade to Windows 7 - printer is installed, but nothing prints

I see some posts with people who say that their printer is installed, but when they try and printing is queued for the print spooler and then disappears, or they say they can print a test page for the HP software but nothing prints.

Most of these people seem to have migrated from another version of Windows to Windows 7, and they have configurations and different printers.

Through testing, we found that this fix works.

    How to fix

    1. Unplug the printer if it is connected via a usb cable.
    2. Click the icon and select all programs.
    3. Select the HP folder, and then select the printer and select Uninstall
    4. Once the uninstall is complete, select devices and printers
    5. Click on another printer or Microsoft XPS Document Writer
    6. Click on the printer server properties in the top menu
    7. Choose the drivers to the installed printer drivers , select the printer that has been uninstalled in step 3.
    8. Click Remove and when we asked him to choose to remove the driver and driver package and click ok.
    9. Install the Windows 7 software for the printer.

I would like to say a big thank you to all who have posted on this subject with the details of their facilities, etc.  This information has helped me make this fix.

    Hello Sosocompliterate,

Thank you for your message.  This computer connects to your printer via the USB port?  If Yes, are you able to use other USB devices on your computer?  You can try to change the output port the printer is connected to exclude a possible bad USB port on your computer.  Otherwise, if USB is detected on your computer and that you can't always not to recognize the printer, the result is most likely a bad cable or a defective printer.

  • DeskJet 3420: deskjet 3420 other driver installed, but the printer is still not printing

Hello everyone, I followed the instructions under the "alternative install print driver for Win 7 for USB. Once the Windows Update over the 3600 was not present, but the 9800 has been (I've read is also a generic driver). I can see the printer in my list of printers (I only have 1) and the driver says he's the 9800. I changed the port of LT1 to USB001.  When I ask it to print a test page, it is listed in the print jobs & then disappears as if he thinks that the work has been done. I tried each of the USB ports & they are all the same. The printer has a green check mark next to it and says it's working properly. I don't know if I have an application of 32 or 64-bit. What did I miss?

Then I thought about it and the instructions on this site are not correct, at least for my set up. The windows update took more than 8 hours for me, so be patient and then the deskjet 3600 printer was not the first time. Two windows updates, 3600 driver has been identified. Hooray! Then, I chose USB001 from printer port. Then he said to go to, click on computer management rt, but printers are managed not there at all. I went in the devices & Printers and found my printer then rt click on, and then select printer properties. Under the Advanced tab click new driver, and the list of windows drivers update came. I followed the Installation Wizard of printer and after I clicked Finish, I could go back and print the test page. Eureka. I spent hours on this and I hope this can help someone else.

  • Printer wifi Windows 7 will install, but not print.

    Hello

I have a problem with a previously working printer Lexmark Wifi and my laptop Lenovo. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my printer was backing in the print spooler after printing a single page. If I rebooted my laptop spooled printing will automatically display, and I am able to make an impression more (single page) before I have to restart again. I finally got fed up and removed the printer and recharged through the Add Printer Wizard. Now, I can't print at all. The printer is selected by default, not to display any errors when I run the troubleshooting, but test pages do not print. I tried to download the latest drivers from lexmark, deleting and reloading the printer through the wizard several times, reset between the two and nothing. We have a second laptop with windows vista connected to the printer, and it has no problem printing. It has been implemented in this way for several years, without much trouble.

You can try to uninstall the software using this tool and then put it back.

  • OfficeJet 5740 e not install correctly

I try to install via USB. The Fax installed but the printer and scanner will not. Have uninstalled and downloaded the drivers a few times. I tried 2 new and 2 old usb cables. 3 different tech support people couldn't understand it either. Last solution was to do a full restore, which would be impossible because I would lose a lot non-recoverable software. The drivers cannot recognize the part priner/scanner unit. I've tried 8 different usb ports (1.1, 2.0 4ea 2ea. 3.0 2ea.) does not. Today I borrowed a friends fully operational xp pc and get the same exact error message "the specified module is not found. I wonder if the drivers have never been tested with an xp system. My xp system runs on other all-in-one usb without problem.

Has anyone reading this successfully installed one of them on a xp operating system? Any advice would be welcome.

    Hey @bob733!

Thanks for getting back to me!

Sorry to hear that you still have the problem!  I have another suggestion that might contribute to the addition of the printer!

You should be able to add the printer using a different printer driver.  The best driver to use is the HP Deskjet 990c driver.

To add the printer using the HP Deskjet 990c driver:

    1. Open fax machines and printers
    2. Click on add a printer
    3. Select "local printer attached to this computer" and click Next
    4. Select LPT:1 for the print port, and then click Next
    5. Choose HP on the left side
    6. Choose HP Deskjet 990c on the right side, and then click Next
    7. Name the Officejet 5740 printer, and then click Next
    8. You don't need to share the printer
    9. Click next and print a test page!

Here is a link to a video to manually add the printer HP for Windows XP.  In the video, they do not choose the HP Deskjet 990c driver, but I recommend you do! Just follow the first part of the video at 01:40.

If this does not remove the printer in printers and faxes.  Follow the steps above to add a printer again.  When you get to step 4, instead of using LPT:1 see if you can select USB because the printer is connected to USB.

Let me know how it goes!

  • F4140 does not. Impossible to remove, the software says it is not installed, but then will not re - install

The printer is not working so I want to remove and re-install, BUT the printer is not in Add/Remove Programs (I have XP).  I downloaded the complete installation package and tried uninstalling it, but the unistall program says that nothing is installed.  Then I tried to install it but it says that the software is already installed and does not settle anything. I'm really stuck this time.  I wish that HP had a "cleaner" uses, because obviously, the registry or something is out of sync.  Help, please!

    Hey there,

Here's how you can uninstall it by using the brush that is built into the software. I've included the two options on how to access the cleaning brush. Simply choose which option is easiest for you.

Option 1: From Original installation CD:

    1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup
    2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open
    3 open the Util folder
    4 open the CCC folder
    5. If you have an HP computer, run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a computer not HP, run the L4uninstall.exe
    6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer
7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup
    8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.Adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9 download drivers and full software features
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Al-64285-2&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=228&product=3235310&sw_lang=
    10. run the download to reinstall the printer

Option 2: If the software has been downloaded and extracted to your system:
    1. type % temp % in the field of race
    2. Locate and open the folder starting with 7z (example: 7zS2356)
    3 open the Util folder
    4 open the CCC folder
    5. If you have an HP computer, run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a computer not HP, run the L4uninstall.exe
    6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer
7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup
    8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.Adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9 download drivers and full software features
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Al-64285-2&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=228&product=3235310&sw_lang=
    10. run the download to reinstall the printer

    I hope this helps!
