OfficeJet Pro 8615: get the Communication Error Message even if the printer prints

Whenever I have print using my USB connected 8615 Pro, the printer prints , but it is different because I still have the error message firt my computer cannot communicate with the printer. Everything is up-to-date. When you ran the scan & print Dr, there is no update, he contacted the printer (which took less than 10 minutes), then I clicked on the print correction tab. After all a late minute two or so, I got the unable to communicate the message BUT it printed the page test OK after 30 seconds to a minute. Any suggestions?

Hey @C_Wolf,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have some problems with printing to your Windows 7 PC to your Officejet Pro 8615 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. Remove the USB cable to the back of the printer.
  2. Close any programs you have open.
  3. Click on start and open devices and printers.
  4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
  5. Click on remove the instrument.
  6. Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
  7. Connect the USB cable.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to print quickly, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.

    1. Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
    2. Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    3. Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet (do not use a bar or a surge protector).

    Hey @LoreeW,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support. I hope you enjoy your experience here.

I understand that you have a few problems with ePrint using your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-all-in-one printer.  I want to help you with this.

I recommend that you first check your printer to verify its intact ePrint connection:

    • Touch the icon (webservices)
    • If you see an address @hpeprint.com, I recommend that you try to send a test ePrint from a different email domain than what you use on your work computer.  If it prints correctly, we can rule out your printer as being a factor in this particular issue.  If your printer's Web services is enabled is more, re - enable.  Any problem would occur with this, click here to access another relevant post I created.  Scroll to my suggestion re: setting a manual DNS as this tends to help by allowing the webservices where fail the normal steps.

If you were able to send your printer work ePrint of any e-mail domain other than the one you use at work, read on.  Click here to see an HP ePrint article that focuses on the various factors that can contribute jobs ePrint not printing not.  Note that some areas of corporate email may become incompatible with ePrint due to the presence of a digital signature in the outgoing message template.  EPrint jobs you send work meet these criteria?

Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  Thanks again for reaching out in the Forums - we are always happy to help you.  If I helped you to solve the problem and that you liked this post, feel free to give me virtual accessories by clicking on the 'Thumbs Up' icon below.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 false jam transport error messages

I have two circular messages on my 8600 Pro. The first is that there is a jam in transport. "The print carriage cannot move", it is said. "Open the door ink cartridge access, varnish any jammed paper or obstructions and selec OK." But there is not any paper jam. I checked all sources of paper and they are clear. I also tried to remove one of the ink cartridges, how the cart moves happily all the way to the right and go back to the change cartridge position, with no problems at all.

Erase this message and you get a cartridge problem... Blah, blah, blad... one or more cartridges is damaged. No they are not. Remove them and replace them all with new, same error message.

Erase this message and you are to the cartridge jam.

Help, please!  I tried to fix this for HOURS, reading the TONS of info. on the Internet without success.  I have installed and reinstalled the software Lexmark a dozen times.  It installs Lexmark Pro900 Series (network) and Lexmark Pro900 series (USB).  The "two-way" box will remain enabled in the properties of the printer to the USB version but not the network version which is what I want to use (since I want to be wireless).  I have no idea how to solve this problem. Analysis of my computer, copy, etc, everything works fine with the printer... I can't print... it keeps saying "Communication not available" and check the box bidrectional.  I check, hit apply, then ok, but then when I go back into the properties of the printer it is more verified. :(

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 has: the printer does not

Got a message on the control panel may not print, replace the depleted ink cartridge (magenta) to resume printing.  Nothing changed when I replaced the magenta cartridge.  I replaced it once again without change.  I keep getting the same message and therefore impossible to print.

Hello @dejen and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

If I understand your message that you are having problems with your cartridge.  I would like to help!

I recommend to start by removing the printer ink cartridges and reset the power supply.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

Then, I recommend following the steps in this document:

A "ink cartridge appears to be missing or corrupt" control panel displays error on the printer

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: Keep the printer?

New to the Forum.  I have an Officejet Pro 8610.  My old printer (4620) would turn off and unplug the printer after each use.  Sometimes, I go 2 weeks without use of the machine.  I was told to leave the printer on all the time.  What is the best option for someone who is not a big user of the printer?  Thank you.

    Hi @Bronco1,

It's really best to let the printer on as he said himself. I have an officejet 6600 that I use maybe once every month or two, I leave it on and it goes into sleep/power mode mode; your printer you will do the same. The advantage to leave, as mentioned, is that the printer will systematically be past in maintenance mode and keep the ink moving regularly. This maintenance helps prevent inks from drying up.

Keep the print head of your printer is a bit like the oil in your car. If you do not regularly, not only it won't work best, but ultimately it may not work at all. And the cost of maintenance is negligible compared to the cost of the repair if you do not have the maintenance - in the case of your printer, it uses a small amount of ink flowing through the print head and keep it clear.  -J' found this text of presentation with additional information in the following link: should you turn your printer Off when you don't use it?

Ultimately there is no "right" answer, but I think it is really preferable to leave the printer on.

I hope this solves your request.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Uninstalled the printer driver and now can not download it from the Web site!

The error message "printer is off-line" showed a day all of a sudden

I tried to download the driver of scanning and printing doctor as suggested help forum, never downloaded.

The download (or Install) window presented with percentage bar.

but the percentage remains at 0% for 10 minutes.

I thought that something was wrong with the Scan Doctor

I decided to take the alternative; uninstall the current printer driver in my computer (computer laptop HP 'Pavilion', Windows8).

I uninstalled it then tried to download the same driver on the HP site.

    It is same as the pilot of scanning and printing doctor;

    same window, "0% download" forever.

Now, I'm totally at a loss. Have what wrong I done?  How can I make my printer work again or how do I know what is the problem?

The driver is big enough, I would say save to disk, and then run the installation program.  You could do a right click on the link here, select "Save as", then download the file.  Depending on your internet speed, it make take some time downloading.  If it doesn't for you please specify exactly what is happening when you try to download the file, and any error messages see you.

  • College Dorm Internet - impossible to get the printer connected wireless

First of all, let me say that I have 3 OfficeJet Pro 8600.  The printer of love.

Second, here is a part of the background of my situation:

Bought OJP8600 for son go to College.  In the dormitory, it is wireless which is encrypted.

WiFi@OSU is a front-end which feeds on the more robust secure portal, which leads to connect to osuwirless.

Can easily get its HP Pavilion on the osuwireless network.  Name of user and password... no sweat (through the secure portal).

But when I configured the printer... She grabs the WiFi@OSU router and he seems happy.  Problem is that computer of this son is on the osuwireless network.  When I try to select xxxwireless on the printer, I get an error of encryption or application not valid.  Duh.

Then... I'm guessing that a network administrator will need to add the printer?

I used a cable ethernet to connect to his laptop computer and that works.  Awkward, but works.  Suppose that I could also connect via USB, but also clumsy as it is to connect the wire whenever you want to print.

Thanks for bearing with me... here's my questions:

    1. cannot get the HPDirect to work... maybe I don't understand what he does?  I can see the host name in internet connections, but can not get the phone to connect to anything mode other than "limited".

    2. a BlueTooth adapter would be an option?  I know that my 8600 didn't BT resident.

Thanks for reading and your suggestions.
