OfficeJet Pro K5400

First of all, I thank very you MUCH, for this day for free help!

I had my Officejet Pro K5400 for several years.  Great performance.

I am on Windows 7 and Office 2010.

About 2 weeks ago, I started having bad print quality.  Read my manual and got to the line for the tips of the latter.

Replace all color cartridges.  No improvement.

Has replaced the two print heads.  PERFECT! ….. for 2 days.

Walked to the office this morning and the two printer lights are flashing and the green power button.

Got online and went through every process of HP solution to

http://h20566.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.page/public/KB/docDisplay/?spf_p.TPST=kbDocDispl...

No improvement whatsoever.

I read that some issues may be related to Printer Spooler, but I don't know anything about.

VERY discouraged after spending so much on the new cartridges and print heads.

I have my original printer software installation disc.

Hope you can help.

Here is the info on my printer scan software HP of my hardware.

Interesting (loan of four another printer cartridges and don't see any printing).  It would make sense to me and I know that I wouldn't think about a problem connecting microsoft HP.  I'd be inclined to think that your printer, independent of all cartridges, got stuck trying to talk to the cartridges.  You could put the four cartridges borrowed from the other printer, then try to send the image of the diagonal lines on the printer, I hope everything will work correctly.  If Yes, then I would work on your printer, not on the cartridge (more correctly, the combination of the head of printing/tank) but on the points of contact on the printer that connect to the cartridge.

  • OfficeJet Pro K5400 - loss of functionality in Windows 7

Since the upgrade of our PC from XP to Windows 7, we have experienced a huge loss of functionality when printing our of Officejet Pro K5400 (cannot print to the edge of the pages, can not specify substrates, change the resolution, etc.)

Our HP reseller from whom we bought the printer actually just washed their hands of this issue "that's the way things are, HP are better than many other manufacturers to provide drivers for the existing hardware, update of the operating system".

It seems ridiculous to me that HP will feel it is reasonable to not continue to support relatively recent kit parts that work well - just another example of built in obsolescence? Is there a way we can restore the missing feature? How about you, Vista driver - is that have relevance?

Come on HP - standing behind your product and we restore the characteristics that we need to make this useful printer once again!

This printer driver must be included in Windows 7 already.

Here is the document that I found for your printer when I was looking for the drivers:

  • FIC Ip HP Officejet Pro K5400

I'm helping friends with their HP Officejet Pro K5400, which is connected to a router that cannot use fixed IP addresses. Is it possible to set up a fixed IP with the printer?

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). You can change the DHCP of the router range using its internal settings page.
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the bridge and the first DNS. Let the second white.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro K5400 print is Cyan and yellow all of a sudden. Help, please...

OfficeJet Pro K5400 Cyan and yellow just stopped working at the same time (very strange).  I have read almost every post and tried almost everything including diagnostic tests that show that all is well (via the keys on the printer), test and all the other available tests in the manual of HP cleaning several times.  The diagnostic test shows no problem and brand new and full cartridges to max.  However the diagnostic characters shows that black and Magenta, but no Cyan, yellow or any other color.  I took out the printheads, cleaned connectors, soak the heads and everything else you can imagine and not luck. I need to have finished the power and "hard reset" on a dozen times.  I can't imagine that two printhead (cyan on a yellow on the other) has just decided to die at the same time.  I can't be driver/software related because I did the tests directly from the printer.  The only thing I can think is maybe cyan and yellow parched when I took out the cartridges at staples with me to reference.  All cartridges have been taken out of the printer for 2 weeks or more.  Any thoughts?

Ouch - two weeks with the cartridges removed probably allowed 'plumbing' between the cartridges and printer to dry and clog.  If the print head and cartridges were never removed and it is also possible for the tubes to drain and air to block channels of ink.

You tried to clean the printhead a couple of times, I suggest three levels of cleaning in the sequence of head running.  Each level of cleaning up to three will be a more energetic cleaning.  You have probably already found the Troubleshooting page here.

Scroll down this page and click on the + to expand the Windows section, then scroll down to the section on executing a cleaning of the Control Panel, click on the +.  It is said:

  • Officejet Pro K5400 printer - no solution center or equivalent on MAC

I have a new iMac running OS x 10.9.3. During the process the K5400 printer in network has been found, drivers downloaded and everything seems to work fine. However there is no center of Solution being present on my Windows system, and if there is a HP Applications folder on my Mac, I can't find. I used the Solutiuon Center to check the ink level and other things.

Question: is there a center of Solution for Mac and if is not there and equivalent and if not (one might wonder why not!) How to find things on this printer from my Mac, not having to go to the porinter in another part of the building.

Thank you in advance for an answer!

I found the answer to this problem, I asked. Apologies for experienced Mac users who I am sure that already know such things, but as a new convert Windows I don't have and this info can be useful similar folk.

Click on Preferences system-> printers and Scanners-> the listed HP printer you want information on-> them status will take you to a set of options that will do everything that was available in the HP Windows solution Center.

It is excellent and can work for another fact of printer--I know I do not have!

  • OfficeJet Pro K5400 printer.

I get a light "Empty cartridge" (flashing) Cyan Ink Division even if I installed a new cartridge.  I reinstalled the cartridge several times (> 10) without success.

    I use Windows 7 Pro. with SP1.

The printer is connected to your PC via a network, no USB cable.

Well, I solved the problem.  I assumed that the new HP ink cartridge was good, and he was not.  I went out and bought a new cartridge and the ink cartridge came out.  I reinstalled the new original cartridge and the ink light began to Flash again.  Reinstall the latest cartridge (bought today) and the light went out.

Once again, thank you for your help...  Drop this solution in your archives, will appear again with someone else.

  • HP Officejet Pro K5400: Replaced an ink cartridge, but it still considers that it must be replaced!

Very recently, I replaced my yellow ink cartridge and it worked fine for a few days, but now the printer tells me that he should be replaced, even though I replaced it a few weeks ago! It's never happened before.

I can't find any online solution that worked... any suggestions?

    Thank you!!!

    Hello efieg,.

Thank you very much for your answer! I have found a document of troubleshooting for you I'll post for you below. Maybe reset the printer and clean the contacts can solve this problem.

I hope this helps, let me know how it turns out, and if you are still experiencing a problem with your reading yellow cartridge incorrectly.

  • Officejet Pro K5400 defective cartridge message

Replace a black "defective" by a new cartride.   Still getting the message "defective".   Full poster ink tank.  Pinhead have been cleaned and displays well.   The printer prints the report.   Help/advice please.  With the help of Mac Lion

According to the lights are flashing, consult this document lights flashing for it.

This document offers some troubleshooting options that can help you. However, one thing I would try is a reset power coercive. Powered up, remove the cartridge from boredom. Close the ink access door. Do not turn off the printer with the power button. Instead, remove the power cord at the back of the printer. Wait at least 30 seconds. Then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Turn on the printer. Open the door of ink. Take a look at the location of the ink, just to be sure, that there is not a large excess ink in the stall. Reinsert the ink cartridge. Close the door. Once the noise stop, turn off the printer by the power button. Then turn it back on. If all goes well, will erase the question. If this is not the case, see if this document offers help.

  • HP Officejet Pro K5400

I used my printer with Windows XP for a few years. Now I have upgraded to Windows 8 on a new computer laptop and I wanted to install the printer but it won't. A minute or two in the installation, I get a message that the installation cannot take place because of something incompatible. I need special software for Windows 8?

    LodewykC,

The CD supplied with your product does not support Windows 8.  To install the printer software, you will need to click the link and download the software from HP.com and install it.  The CD will not work.

  • OfficeJet Pro K5400 Mirror Image problem

My default printer is a mirror image when I try to print some pages on Internet web sites.  I went to the HP support site for 'text and Images print backwards after installation of Windows XP Service Pack 3 on the computer' and followed all the instructions.  Under the Advanced tab in the characteristics of the printer, the reflection shows OFF, but I always get a default value to the Mirror Image of on the internet - for example, tab USA today games, crosswords still prints a mirror image.  I am connected to my computer with the standard USB connection method.  If I print from other sources, such as my files Word and Works, I have no problem.  I'm puzzled!

Having given up trying a year or two ago to solve the problem of mirror image, I found that you and many others

had the same problem.  Thank you... I did as you suggested and went into the advanced print options

and changed the Image mirror off and voila... it was fixed.     Don't know how it was never passed to 'ON '!

Hope this works for others.  I printed just a promo flyer color Yes hope it works as well on other programs by e-mail

    THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!

  • HP Officejet Pro K5400 print extra page after each print job

I've updated HP software version 2.16.1 on my version of Mac OS X 10.7.5. After the update of the printer still prints an extra page after each print job. This delays the work according to the printer, because the printer flashes for about 5 minutes, then prints extra page and there always several 2-234 X. Don't know how to solve this problem, I already checked that the software is up to date. Is it possible to go back to a previous version of the HP update until a solution is found?

  • OfficeJet pro k5400 solution center stops

The solution center is installed, but insists there is no unit printing HP-not found, and that is why the Solution Center will be stopped, even when the printer is installed and working properly. Everything works the 'doctor', reports OK, too.

I have a local network with two PCs and the printer is connected via the net. The PC is running XP and there, the center of Solution works OK. But not on the other who runs the Vista.

Sorry for typo's fault, it's corrected now.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro scan is no longer with Sierra

I am running OS X Sierra on 2012 MBA with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer / scanner.

I noticed that after the upgrade to Sierra that the scan function no longer works... I tried to uninstall / reinstall the device, but the problem continues... I have checked the Apple Web site and notice that the HP OfficeJet 8600 is listed as a compatible scanner.

I note also that the 8600 OfficeJet is connected as a printer via WiFi network and worked perfectly with the captain.

    With:

1 has anyone else experienced this problem?

    2. What if anyone has found a solution / workaround?

    TIA,

responsibility to provide drivers to work for an update of the OS is with the developer of this device, not Apple. visit the page of the developer for your make and model camera and see if they offer drivers, otherwise contact the developers. Apple will sometimes provide printer drivers, but if a device is a legacy printer the developer may choose to retire it from use.
