OfficeJet Pro L7780 Driver installation fails

I got an Officejet L7780 printer for three years and it seems to work fine.  I plugged it in as a cable network on my network printer home.

I am able to navigate to the web page of the printer.  I am able to print to the printer from other computers.

My PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate, fully patched with all updates.  I am trying to install the latest drivers (version 14) downloaded from HP's Support web site.  I tried to use the installation wizard, as well as download the drivers directly.

My problem started a couple of days when I tried to scan a document to my PC via the network.  Analysis failed and the message on my computer says the drivers were not installed properly and I need to reinstall them.  I have uninstalled the drivers and tried to reinstall them.  The installation process gets through the initial phase of installation, but when he arrived at the point of the preload of the pilot and fails.  The dialog box presented has a red 'X' in it with no other information available.  Here is an example:

The software attempts to clarify the error, and that's what he found:

I tried to connect the printer via the USB port and install the drivers in this way, but it fails with a similar error message - the only difference is he's trying to use autorun_usb.inf instead of autorun_network.inf as shown above.

I have an L4 uninstall by running the Uninstall_L4.bat file in the downloaded driver files.  After L4 uninstallation finished and I restarted my PC, installation failed exactly at the same place.

I ran the installer with administrator privledges, and who do not have the same way.  I have enabled the administrator account and installed the drivers as administrator; has as well.

I ran a registry (CCleaner) analysis tool and which found no errors in the registry.

I unplugged the printer, reset the router and checked the network settings on the printer.  Everything seems correct.  I don't think that the problem is with the printer more precisely if the installation fails before it installs all the drivers or detects all available printers to install.

If anyone has any ideas as what to try next, I'd love to hear them!

Thank you

Bob

There is no documentation for what to do. It's one of those things you need to know how to do it. I would like to explain it, but I don't know that I could explain it clearly. I don't know the exact price more. In my view, which varies by country. They helped me with a problem, and like you I tend not to call unless it's a big problem. Remember, this was before I started working for them.

    Hello

This can happen for several reasons, most common duration to a problem with the registry permissions.

I would suggest trying the following tool, it is a 3rd party utility that analyze and repair registry permissions, and so you can use it at your own risk (I used it several times without any problems):

    http://www.MajorGeeks.com/mg/getMirror/tweaking_com_reset_registry_permissions, 1.html

Click the Start button and let a few minutes (it may take some time, about 5-10 minutes), the journal stated: "" once it ends.

Then try to reinstall the HP software and check for the difference.

If the same continues I suggest contacting HP sopport to continue such troubleshooting.

  • All-in-one Officejet Pro L7780: driver HP Officejet Pro L7780 will not install with Windows 10

Recently, my HP Officejet Pro L7780 stopped printing. I uninstalled the driver and then reinstalled the driver from the HP website. Every time, when installing, I get a message that "bing bar does not work on this version of Windows. Once the installation is complete, the test page is fine but I can't print from one of the applications (e.g., WORD, Adobe Acrobat, etc.), getting an "Error printing" message, rather than each time.

I use Windows 10. The printer was working fine since I've upgraded to Windows 10 until recently.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times as suggested on the HP website. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem.

    Thank you.

Hello @AMNYC2015and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you are having errors in the print driver. I would like to help!

I recommend to remove the cartridges ink and starting by a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I also recommend running the HP Print and Scan doctor.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. If this solves the problem, click on accept the Solution below, as well as others to find the answer.

  • Solution Center does not work under Windows 7 with Officejet Pro L7780

Downloaded the latest version of the software for Windows 7 and the first issue was when you try to do an installation complete you get a fatal error at the 96 percent mark when she did the configuration. I looked on the web and found a lot of posts on the same problem. Then, I just uninstalled and made a gradual installation.

Main printer DRIVER installed first. Then did the functions of imaging followed by the solution Center device.

Installed everything, but when you run the solution center it says it can't open because incomplete installation.

The printer works from Windows 7.

I have an XP machine and Solution Center working on it.

    Any suggestions anyone.

This thread has resolved the problem installing the software that supports the HP Officejet Pro l7780 for use on Windows 7.

The event viewer showed mistakes that network location for %APPDATA%\protector.exe is not found.

Even if I couldn't run the original installation of solutioncenter.msi to work without errors in the log file, without making any changes, which has not completely solved the problem.

Since solutioncenter, initially did not work, I decided to run solutioncenter.msi manually and look at the log file. See errors in the log file we made changes to the database with Orca solutioncenter.msi. It took us on a long road that does not initially sense that HP would put something out there that produced errors in the msi log file.

    I don't know how the setup.exe uses solutioncenter.msi?

The changes that doesn't seem it to matter when you run the setup.exe file that is provided in the download.

If I used the modified solutioncenter.msi or version orginal of it as downloaded from HP running setup.exe site had no importance regarding obtaining solutioncenter work in windows 7, canceled only changes in the solutioncenter log file errors.

I had to make the following changes to the environment variables to get the full package to work, but what is strange is that I could replace the changeed solutioncenter.msi or the original solutioncenter.msi and run setup.exe, with the following environment changes didn't matter. The solution Center has worked in Windows 7 using one of the solutioncenter.exe and setup.exe.

Apparently, setup.exe does not use the MSI directely. I think that HP responses suggested that in a previous thread.

Add these entries (click new...) for the owner user variables and System variables:

    In the name box: APPDATA

    In the value box: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

Run setup.exe and event viewer does not display % APPDATA % Scriptures and all work.

Thanks for all help on this.

  • OfficeJet Pro base driver will install

I downloaded the HP OfficeJet Pro base Driver for Windows Server 2008 x 64 (v28.8, file named OJ8600_Basicx64_1315) for our 8600.  When I try to install on our 2008 Server, I get a message saying the driver is only for systems Win XP (32 bit), Vista or 7.

    Hello

You can install the drivers on a server through the command line operating system using an MSIEXEC command and not by installation of graphicl such as used on a client OS.

  • OfficeJet Pro L7780 can't scan to PDF

I have an OfficeJet Pro L7780 HP sent me after giving up on a 7310xi of fixation. I installed the software a message received a 'fatal error' on the error code 2203. He went ahead and installed OK - I thought. I even went to www.hp.com/support and searched this error code. From what I gathered, it had something to do with registration it... so I do not download their fix. Once installation is complete, I went in the scanning settings, because I scan a little bit. I discovered that the PDF file option did not appear in document scanning settings. Only BMP, JPG, TIF, PNG, PCX and FPX are listed, which are, in effect, the types of files that do not exist in the image scanning settings. It's as if the software loaded the same types of files in the settings of the document scanning and photography.

I wonder now if the fatal error message actually related to this problem.

Any advice... below to uninstall the entire package and start over again?

    Thank you...

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have installed Adobe Acrobat.

I finally abandoned and went on the website to the address support HP Contact online us, and they have solved my problem. They put me installation disk, click the add additional software option and install the OCR software. Once I did that, the PDF option, along with others, appeared in the output file to scan a Document.

    Go figure.

    Thanks again.

  • OfficeJet Pro L7780 - have to restart each job print spooler I print (Windows 7 32-bit)

I have an OfficeJet Pro L7780 which displays offline in devices and printers constantly.  I discovered if I queue print jobs to it and then restart the print spooler all jobs will come out perfectly, then the printer will instantly be in offline mode.   Here's what I've already done for troubleshooting:

Upgrade to the new firmware (R2011NxNxeN0)

To factory reset # and 3-boo

    Changed ink and Printhead

Most recent pilot 14.0 (tried Basic and IT Pro Driver)

Rebooted and restarted computer and printer

Tried this on a 2nd computer to Windows 7 with the same results

Someone at - it actually use this printer under Windows 7 32 bit on the wired network port! ? !

I was just checking if you guys have tried the update I've linked below.

  • OfficeJet pro l7780 wireless works do not since the firmware update

Is there a restore utility for an update of the firmware?  I have updated the firmware on my Officejet pro L7780 AIO hoping to solve a problem of scanning; However wireless capability has since stopped working.  I tried a static ip address - disconnect the power supply, check that the SSID and password, etc..

The wireless network Test report page. RADIO ON IS PASS, RADIO WORK = FAIL, PASS = NOT CONNECTED ETHERNET CABLE.

The previous Firmware before I upgraded was: R0040xxNxeN0; The version of the installed software package now is: R2011NxNxeN0.

The printer works with a straight ethernet cable to my router Netgear Rangemax Wireless model WPN824v2. However, it seems that I can only access the printer from my laptop through my desktop computer (which is networked via ethernet to the router) wireless - and the desktop computer must be powered.

(PS; Update does not solve problem of scanning)

    Hello world

I increased my support to management and after having crossed some tests additional etc, it was determined that my problem is, indeed, a hardware failure.  HP offered me a replacement refurb for $245 includes taxes & shipping in both directions, as I mentioned in my last thread, they don't sell parts for this model, that's why I decided the lesser of two evils... spend more money & buy new or take the offer... I take the offer.

    Thanks for your help.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7780 - network letter nightmare!

    Hello.

I'm hopin that someone can help with a problem I have with my HP Officejet Pro L7780:

The printer is connected to my wireless network and all is fine with that. The problem lies in the letter from the network that it sets itself on my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate) for the card reader on the printer. It uses the same letter as a virtual cd-rom on my PC drive - and I would like the letter use printer - and not the cd-rom drive, as I have my PC configuration in a way where are grouped different types of readers. Is it possible (possibly via the Windows registry) that would allow me to change the drive letter of the network (as it seems to automatically assign them one) and keep it with this new letter rather that interfere with the cd-rom drive and denying access to him every time that Windows 7 starts?

Or otherwise disabling the function of card reader on the printer I do not use it?

Thanks to anyone who can solve this - it's driving me crazy!

I finally found a solution to this problem that works for me.

I too have an HP printer that was mapping its card slots memory on drive Z: every time I start my Windows 7 computer.

To change the map to another letter in order to release the letter Z:, I put a memory card in the printer memory card slots. I then unplugged the drive Z: printers mapping (right-click the Z: drive in Windows Explorer and choose the option to logout).

I then used the "Map network drive" option on the toolbar of Windows Explorer to map the slot for memory card printer to a different drive letter. [You must know the address (or network name) of the printer to do this: name or network \\[printer address] \memory_card (e.g.: \\192.168.1.108\memory_card). This address goes in the 'Folder' dialog to map text box. Make sure that the option "Reconnect at logon" is checked. And make sure you only select a new drive letter that is not necessary for any other thing later. Then click "Finish."

After doing this, the printer has continued to use the new drive letter to start instead of Z:, leaving Z: free for other applications.

I do not think that works above if there is no memory card in one of the printer memory card slots.

  • Officejet Pro L7780 print head error

I have a Officejet Pro L7780 all-in-one. Recently, it does not work due to a print head error (printhead missing or damaged M/C). Help, please.  Thank you very much.

    Hello

Use the following link to complete the troubleshooting steps.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01446637

If you still receive the error message after you perform the steps in troubleshooting mentioned in the document, then try cleaning print head in the printer menu.

Installation Menu - Tools - cleaning print head

Configure the Menu - Tools - align printer.

If none of these help then try this reset... This reset will restore the printer to its factory settings & will clear all the settings of the printer.

Unplug the cord from the back of the printer while the printer is always enabled.

Now hold "# & 9 ' buttons on the printer and connect the power chords while pressing the 2 keys. Wait 10 seconds, then release the keys.

If the printer turns off automatically, then wait for 10secs. and then turn on the printer using the power button on the printer.

    I hope this helps.
