OK to leave the printer on indefinitely in a State of rest?

Sorry if this question was asked to the answer in the forums.  I did a search and found nothing.

I just bought a LaserJet P1102w and running Mac OS X 10.8.2, but it is not relevant.

This printer (and I guess that most of the other HP printers) goes into idle state after a period of inactivity.

Y at - it hurt to keep the printer in this inactive state indefinitely (instead of hitting the power button and turn the unit off)?  Is there a point where the printer actually shut down after being idle for a certain time?  Apart from flashing LED lights, is all power consumed as a result in the maintenance of this printer in idle state?

Thank you very much in advance for any information or advice.

By default, the printer is set to mode standby after 5 minutes.  After that the printer is idle for a few minutes, then the device goes into automatic.

It is not a problem to allow the printer to stay in long periods of inactivity.  The unit will maintain only enough power in the circuit to power the LEDs bit and maintain communication with the router if wireless package.

If you want to change the time or to disable this feature, check the document located here.  I hope this helps.

    Hello

Yes you can leave it on 24/7 unless you're away for long periods of time.  We have a C309a (last years model) and leave it running all the time.  It goes into power saving mode to reduce energy consumption.  We had a Photosmart 3210 AiO before that worked for 6 years before we got the C309a and is on 24/7 too.

  • Leave the printer HP photosmart C5280 All in one printer, Windows XP, to printing several pages

Printer was working fine a few months ago. nothing has changed since then, except now when I tried to copy 2 or several pages on a single page/sheet of paper, I receive one copy on the half of the page. The other half is empty. I tried 4 pages on a single page, always I only have one page on 1/4 of the page.

I have uninstall and Reinstalled the software. I don't know what model do?

There, can someone help me? Of course, I would appreciate your help

Very well.  You will need make the document a two page document.  Just copy what you have on the first page and paste it on the second page.  This should make everything feel right.  You must have the number of pages to print on one page in the document before it will print.

  • small problem with the printer dialog box

I recently added a Brother printer to my IMac and ran into a minor problem.  When I put in place using my WiFi and AirPrint, the dialog box has a convenient box for the black and white that I was able to check in one easy-to-replace step and just print in color.  However, the alarm time and the answer is a bit slow.  So, I then plugged a cable and add this version of the printer.  Now the box is missing and nothing I've been able to do, to delete and add new printer allowed me to bring that?  Any ideas on how I can get this feature practice appears in the dialog box with the printer connected to the cable?  Thank you.

If I understand correctly, you have now two entries separated for this printer to Print & Scan? It's OK, although AirPrint is better for various reasons.

I understand the printer takes an unacceptable amount of time to wake up to when choosing the AirPrint printer, and you want to avoid this.

If you have added a separate entrance - one for the USB printer connected - how who you? Did you leave the print & Scan install this printer automatically on its own, or did you download and install a driver of brother separately?

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

  • DeskJet 1010: Aware of the printer

I said to keep my printer on all the time, but a new stops automatically. If something has changed?

    Hi JimG2,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

It is recommended to leave the printer on constantly.  If the printer turns off it is simply because the unit has a built in power saving mode and enters a State of hibernation when not in use.

When it's time to use the printer, simple press and quickly release the power button.  It will wake up. If you press in and hold the button for a while, it shuts down the printer.

If a print job is sent to the printer when it is in sleep or stand by fashion, in most units, the printer will wake up and move forward with the print job.

I hope this information is useful.

    See you soon,.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: Keep the printer?

New to the Forum.  I have an Officejet Pro 8610.  My old printer (4620) would turn off and unplug the printer after each use.  Sometimes, I go 2 weeks without use of the machine.  I was told to leave the printer on all the time.  What is the best option for someone who is not a big user of the printer?  Thank you.

    Hi @Bronco1,

It's really best to let the printer on as he said himself. I have an officejet 6600 that I use maybe once every month or two, I leave it on and it goes into sleep/power mode mode; your printer you will do the same. The advantage to leave, as mentioned, is that the printer will systematically be past in maintenance mode and keep the ink moving regularly. This maintenance helps prevent inks from drying up.

Keep the print head of your printer is a bit like the oil in your car. If you do not regularly, not only it won't work best, but ultimately it may not work at all. And the cost of maintenance is negligible compared to the cost of the repair if you do not have the maintenance - in the case of your printer, it uses a small amount of ink flowing through the print head and keep it clear.  -J' found this text of presentation with additional information in the following link: should you turn your printer Off when you don't use it?

Ultimately there is no "right" answer, but I think it is really preferable to leave the printer on.

I hope this solves your request.

You need to provide a little more information... and it is unclear what you mean by "after successful download" even though I think you mean that you believe that you have successfully installed the printer.

When you installed the printer did you leave the printer NOT connected until you are prompted to connect by the installation software or did you first connect the printer to the computer and then install the software?

  • Spoolsv.exe has 99% of the cpu when I turned off the printer after printing.

    Original title: spoolsv.

I recently installed a new printer Lexmark Pro715.  Everything works fine, no problems with printing, but as soon as I put off the printer after printing, spoolsv.exe takes 99% CPU.  If I leave the printer in mode 'sleep', the problem is, but I do not often print, I prefer to turn off completely.  There is nothing in the print queue, everything else seems normal.  I can use the Task Manager to stop it, but this isn't a good solution in the long term.  I run MS Update and uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, with no effect.  It's driving me crazy.  I have Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

From what I've read on the Internet about the print spooler using 99 to 100%, Norton is also sometimes involved as a contributing factor to a runaway print spooler for some people (where my request).

IIRC, people would set their Norton to start a scan and when it was made, the print spooler has run amok at 100%:

"Because I have Norton Antivirus, do a system scan every Friday night that I happened to see that the value SPOOLSV. EXE is using almost 100% of the CPU of the morning Saturday. It's the only time that it happens, so I simply stop the process in the SERVICES window, and life is good. I don't know why Norton Antivirus it triggers during the scanning process that I couldn't find anything on the Symantec relating to this site. »

If the problem resurfaces surface, using abduction special tools on their website, you can uninstall your Norton and view the appearance of things without him - you can always reinstall again once, right?

I disagree with Norton in general for its CPU and memory hogging and known interference with other XP processes (such as the restoration of the system), so I'd keep which in mind if the problem returns.

A few years ago, I used to like Norton correct, but will never go back or recommend it.  Microsoft Security Essentials with it's lower overhead and footprint and some regular on the analyses at the request of the MBAM and SAS should hold your own system based on your surfing habits.  Your system will reward you with an improvement in the overall performance of the system as well.

I can tell you that no single AV tool seems to know everyting so it is safe to use several respectable scanning tools.  Norton certainly doesn't know everything.

  • OJ6480 am not able to import photos from the memory card inserted in the printer to laptop?

I can't import pictures from my memory inserted in my OJ6480 card.  I am connected with USB and nothing appears automatically after you insert card.  Also, I used the menu photo option and he doesn't want me to import.  Help, please!  Thank you.

    Hi cafahr,

I understand you are trying to print photos from a memory card.

I find the user manual for Officejet 6480 and found the following.

After taking pictures with your digital camera, you can print them immediately or save them on your computer. To save the pictures on your computer, remove the memory card from your digital camera and insert it into the slot for card memory on the device.

    To save your photos

NOTE: Use these instructions only when you use a network connection. If you are using a USB connection, then a dialog box appears automatically on the computer when you insert the memory card into the device.

    1. Insert a memory card into the suitable location on the device.
    2. press on the picture Menu.
    3. press the arrow keys and select Photo transfer and then press OK.
    4. press the arrow keys, and then select Yes.
    5. press the arrow keys and select transfer to computer, and then select the name
    of your computer.
6 follow the prompts on the screen on your computer to save the photos to your
    computer.

From what you described, the question is simple, the dialog box does not appear on the computer. What happens if you start it > computer or workstation? Do you see something here that looks like it could be the card into the printer?

Try to leave the printer and unplug the power cable (with the inserted memory card), leave the printer unplugged for about a minute and then plug it back. I want to see if this will push the communication to the computer.

Have you used this memory card in the printer before successfully? I ask because the problem may be the memory card or the memory card reader in the printer. Take a look at this link, memory card troubleshooting.

I hope it's useful. If the problem persists, please return with answers to the questions I asked, I'll gladly do some additional research and return with possible solutions. Please also let me know if you use a Mac or a WIndows OS.

  • OfficeJet Pro8500 A909a cleans the print heads whenever his touring on!

    Hey elders ~

Why my Officejet Pro8500 A909a short "Clean printhead" feature every time I turn on my printer?  Is there a place I can tell you to STOP?  It's my expensive WASTE.  Help!

    Hi @eschro

You turn off the printer when you are not using it and turn it back on, or are you referring to light once it falls in mode 'sleep'? The following presentation may help explain why the print head cleaning is performed each time you turn on the printer.

The print head nozzles get clogged over time, most commonly by dried ink or microscopic dust particles. Nozzles are kept clean of servicing, including wipe them the surface with a rag rubber, ejecting ink through the nozzles to purge the particles and to prevent drying and pumping with ink to clean the print head. To keep the printer ready to print in color or black, these routines of service generally consume little ink in each cartridge, even if only black or color is used in the document being printed.

Tiny air bubbles form in ink over time and can block the flow of ink in the printhead long duration printers (IIC). In some printers IIC, bubbles of air can be caused by a change in the ink cartridge. Air bubbles can be removed by pumping them out of the print head. When you remove these air bubbles, little ink is also removed. On the IIC systems, multiple colors may use the same print head. When a single color cartridge is changed, some ink is also consumed since the other color ink cartridges using the same print head. - Source

There is no way to disable this feature, but in General, it is best to leave the printer on and allow to maintain on a regular basis, rather than turning off and back on.

I hope that answers your question. Happy Friday, have a great weekend.

  • power officejetPro 8500 to always clean the print heads

    Hello!

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500.  I got it specifically so that I would get a large number of pages are printed on the extra large ink cartridges.

However, when I turn off the printer for the night save energy, and then turn it back on the next day morning, the printer goes through a status of "Please wait" in which she appears to clean the print heads at least twice.

And we both know that the print head cleaning consumes a lot of ink.

I have no problem printing.  The printer prints very well.

But, when I look at the ink levels using the solution Center HP, ink fell considerably after this start procedure.

Why?  Why he cleans the head whenever I turn on the printer?   He didn't need it!

    Thank you!

    Hi Jim,.

It's a very good question. When the printer returns to the top, it goes through a maintenance routine to ensure there are no clogged nozzles and all colors are able to print the result of quality.

I have actually never turn off my printers at night in my home office because they don't really use a lot of power (I don't have the exact specification). I would say just to leave the printer on... is not worth saving.
