Old toshiba satellite 320 CDT: problems after reformatted drive

Howdy there,

I was wondering if someone can help relieve my confused state. Have not messed around with computers cell phones a lot, especially the work stations, then when you go to reformat my friends laptop for free, I went on this issue the same way I have a desktop computer. Needless to say, big mistake.

I reformatted the hard drive, but now I have no access to anything, and because I read the bios is only accessible through windows itself.

I did win98se, win2000 and win95 boot floppies, no luck. I've yet to be able to copy files hard drive system, but the computer was win98se working in so much fashion may be a few days earlier. I have no recovery cd, as I am in the Japan, and my friends bought this beautiful piece of equipment used.

Not sure if there is a special mode, I have to put this computer reformat, or if I forget to do something for the bios before reformatting, and if I have to just go and Flash the bios with something new, so maybe I can put win2k here. Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

Hi Bort

In my opinion you expect a good old classic too. I think that W98SE is acceptable for this device and works only with 233 MHz and has only 32 MB of RAM. I found the information this device was shipped with Windows 95. Some drivers for Windows 95, you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com. Go to Support & downloads and download the drivers. Under product type, choose Archive.

I think that W2K will be too much for this unit.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 problems

Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 is usually a large equipment once it works! I have bought in December 2001 + additional 2 year warranty. Used every day for a business purpose - mainly on a desk anchored to the Port Replicator or inside-out of the office with WiFi.

Almost after a year I bought it - one of the memory locations died on the motherboard! A machine still worked OK - only on a slot with installed memory capacity! So the 256 MB of memory and motherboard have been replaced by September 2002.

Then the hard drive was noise - has been replaced as a guarantee somewhere in October 2004. So I thought that it is her - I have now a few years without problem again!

Yes - all of a sudden a few days ago, I closed the lid for a coffee brake and after that the machine woke up to a strange sleep - the screen flickered and a machine was muzzy! Like the previous night failures that occurred before that I thought that this restart will solve the problem! It s woke up without the support of the voice! And after that I discovered that the WiFi card is always on - no matter if you switch the button on or off! If the service said that probably the motherboard has not once again!

So, which brand and model to buy then?

    > And after that I discovered that the WiFi card is always enabled.
    > - no matter switch you on or off! So that the
    > service provided that said probably the
    > motherboard has yet again!

same thing with my nine M30 I bought last summer. I can't be able to turn off the WiFi keyboard functionality. the light is still on too.

  • The laptop recovery Toshiba Satellite L505-S5997 problem error: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5997 computer laptop and my hardrive recently crushed, impossible to restart.  I installed a SEAGATE 500 GB/sata/GO 16 MB of Cache, 7200 RPM hard drive. I ordered recovery for the computer disks and many of the drivers will not update or install without error that tells me that "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) "error.  Also, when I try to update Windows 7 I get the ' Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. "  You may have to restart your computer. "When I try to download the service pack from the Web site it is usually interrupted with another error.  I tried to go to the Toshiba website and download the drivers needed and utitilities but nothing seems to work.  I am at a loss to try to seek and find a solution.

Are you sure that the original problem was caused by a failure of the HD, did you test that the hd with the utility bootable disk from audit?

As if you reinstalled to a new HD using that the required all defined recovery Tosh disk drivers would have been installed in this process.

Assuming that Tosh then rebooted successfully after recovery, windows update would have run some important updates automatically. If that failed then it would seem that something is happening with your system.

    Hello

As I see that you posted several discussions on the same issues. I imagine that you are not happy because of all these issues.
    (1) what to write about BSOD? Nobody here can say with certainty why this happen. As you know, it may be because of some software pre-installed. Who knows what you have installed on your laptop? Accurate diagnosis is definitely not possible.
    (2) install all the missing drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities. Each of them should be available on the Toshiba U.S. support page.
    (3) in this regard, we can only speculate. The fact is that this model of laptop pre-installed with Windows XP Home edition and optimized operating system should work well and smoothly.
    (4) I don't know what answer you expect on this subject. Make sure that the network adapter is properly installed. All others you must clarify with network administrator in your company or your Internet service provider
    (5) no comments for this.

If you have a model of cell phone US Download all the stuff of http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

  • Satellite 2210CDT: two problems after installing Win XP

Hello! Maby it sounds funny but I found Toshiba Satellite 2210CDT inside my closet, installed Windows XP (oem supplied with the mouse, I bought some time ago) and it works!
The only problems I have are:
    * When the system is in hibernation, it is impossible to 'wake up' (I remmember in Win98 in this laptop there is problem);
    * I don't really have the tools provided with Win98 came with the laptop (ie.battery status and so...)

    Appreciate the help, Mike

PS sorry if I post in a bad place in the forum, but this is my first post (I hope you can understend...)

    Hello

Satellite 2210CDT is an ancient and you should be lucky that Windows XP runs on you laptop.
But this unit has been designed and delivered before the era Windows XP started.
I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and there is no drivers for Windows XP. I found drivers only for W2k and Win98.
Unfortunately, if you use the Win XP on your laptop you must do without drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities.

I found a utility to do Hibernation for Win98 on the Toshiba site. I think that this is a utility that is important to use the hibernation mode. But as I said, it is available for Win98.

  • Satellite L50D - Boot problems after replacing the hard drive

I just upgraded my hard drive of the pathetic crod 5400 they provide to a SSHD@7200rpm, but now have a major issue.

I initially image the operating system from the old hard drive to the new drive and have had chronic start-up problems (1-3-4 attempts to start to succeed if it fails at any time (often to the Toshiba start screen)).

I reinstalled from a drive under Win 8.1 plain own ENT (trying to avoid the bloatware) and it is exactly the same number and is what I used to format the laptop very well with previously and had previously worked.

I tried reformatting and reinstalling (by removing all partitions on each attempt) to the CSM, unsafe UEFI and UEFI secure. MCS is a straight line never works not proceed and both UEFI methods have the same exact result.

I tried with original restore disks and it seems to work (not had time to fully test) but I don't want the bloatware and it shouldn't be serious since, if I were a customer who forgot to make restore disks (too often) and just have to have a failed hard drive or replaced sacrificed the laptop would be now a door stop.

This seems as bad as Apple to lock people in.

So I would appreciate ideas of people to please, I don't know if there is a program that is supposed to take place on a new drive as PS3 etc (I doubt it), but that leads me into the wall, and will be the last time that I consider Toshiba as anything other than a joke, if there is no solution.

I had to replace the hard disks many times in my previous Toshiba laptops and were devoid of this crod, it has something to do with UEFI which seems more a nuisance than a help right now.

    TIA.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should first check if the startup problem is related to the new installed HARD drive or new installed system.
You said that the laptop fails to start up often to the Toshiba start screen.

The splash screen appears during the POST (power on self-test) procedure. During this test, the material will be checked.
I m wondering if the hybrid SSD/HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS during this particular step.

From my point of few, this could be the reason why the system cannot be started.

    Another important note:
The 8.1 win requires enable start secure as well as the UEFI boot mode.
Therefore, you must enable both options in the BIOS.

Last but not least check if you are using the latest BIOS version as latest firmware for the hybrid SSD/HDD

  • Re: Satellite L500D - boot problem after BIOS update

I downloaded the new version of BIOS (v1.4) official Toshiba site to update my computer Satellite L500D (PSLK0A - 00U009). But after the update, Windows 7 cannot start, Windows logo appears for a while then it restarts automatically. Windows then goes into repair mode. I followed the instructions on the screen to fix. But it does not work.
When I reinstalled Windows, the computer worked fine until Windows Update told me to restart the computer. The computer dies again.

I think that this version of BIOS has a problem. I wonder if there is a way to downgrade the BIOS to the earlier version. I found some instructions on the net to use the Phoenix recovery disk, but I have no file disk and BIOS.
    Please Please HELP, very appreciate.

Try to install the OS to help original Toshiba recovery image. After disabling automatic Microsoft updates to install. When you get the message about controlled initially available updates and install important updates only.

Check it once more to see if the same thing will happen again. Display the results.

I lowered my Satellite P300-212 from Vista to XP. I used an installation Win XP CD of Win professional XP including Service Pack 3.
Then I installed all the drivers from the Toshiba site.
    But I still have a yellow! in the Device Manager to the "Audio device on High Definition Bus". The details of this device show "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_1002 & DEV_AA01 & SUBSYS_00AA0100 & REV_1001\5 & 3B6F18F1 & 0 & 0001"
So I don't know, what driver I need to take to solve this problem. Rather, modemdriver etc are all installed and work fine!
In the thread I linked above, the guy only has not copied driver WICH he installed manually. :(

I hope that someone of you can help!

    Best wishes.

    Hello

You should go to remove device manager and scream this device with the yellow! and?
    Restart the unit.

In addition you must update Win XP for the last State because there are many patches that are required under Win XP latest series laptop.

I thought that this could be because the USB keyboard would not have been arrested properaly when I unplugged and the portable thought he was always there, but even after the stop of the USB keyboard is the same!

All the answers to my problem?

    Hello

On my Satellite A300, I can get 3 when I press L. It can be done if you are using the FN + F11 key combination.
Perhaps this option enabled on your laptop?
