on old.windows

HP Pavilion a6655f desktop PC

This pc was orginaly vista and I upgraded to W7 and it did left a former windows file that had vista on it and he baptized old.windows

IM in the treatment of deletion of unnecessary files free space on my pc, but I like to know what to delete in old.windows and what not to touch

Method 1:

In Windows Explorer, open the folder Windows.old.

Find the users folder and find the username that you used before. If you had a download folder, then take a look at it also. (Downloads\my Documents, my music, my pictures, my videos)

Browse documents, photos, music files and other downloads you want to keep.

Tranfer of files that you have decided to keep in a folder outside the Windows.old folder.

When you are finished, you can delete the Windows.old folder to reclaim the space.  Don't forget and the trash and inspect the files there. Once you have completed your inspection of the files in the trash, which you can click Empty trash.

Method 2: (if the old files are not important to you)

Click the Windows Orb-> all programs-> click on Accessories-> system folder-> disk cleanup tools. Who calls a dialog window.

Select the drive which contains the .old top files and click OK.

Once complete the system scan, check the box to clean up the system files at the bottom of the dialog window.

In the next dialog that opens, select the drive that contains the .old on new files and click OK.

Your operating system will do another scan and present you with another dialog box containing a list of checkboxes.

See the list and select the one that says older versions of windows and click OK. Should allow you to find some drive capacity.

Best regards

I liked the old window with 'Download' more and I want to get it back.

Sorry, but this dialog box has been removed. Could someone create an add-on to simulate it, but I haven't heard one yet. In the meantime, if you press Ctrl + j or click Show all downloads, you can see the list in the Download Library dialog box.

  • I don't want firefox to reopen old windows when it restarts

On the rare occasions where Firefox hangs and I restart, I often find myself having the same problem that led to the initial accident because Firefox is trying to restore all of the windows of the previous session. I looked in preferences, but cannot find a way to change this behavior. I don't want to try and reopen old windows when it restarts, just go to my home page and I would like to resume windows manually. I can only put somehow?

You can disable the curriculum vitae of the option of crash by changing a hidden preference.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. In the filter box, type crash
    4. Double-click the browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash preference to change its value false
  • Impossible to install old windows on Satellite A100-787

I bought the Satellite A100-787 with Vista home premium installed. I wanted to remove vista and install older windows.
I tried Win XP without service pack, but the installation gave me a lot of blue screens and could not continue.
I tried Windows Millennium, but even once it froze during installation because of "material conflict". How can I install old windows on this computer.
Pls don't tell me that it is not compatible with the old windows, because this makes no sense.

    > How to install old windows on this computer?

Thank you for using Windows XP edition family SP2 not SP1. I installed Windows XP SP2 home edition on the new Satellite A200 and if I can do it on the A200 you can do this on A100 also.

  • Color background of the old Windows Notepad and old Internet Explorer

Two questions really. (1) what was the color of old Windows Notepad? I remember originally he was not white, but a dull kind of ish. The question is what is the value of that color in hexadecimal html (#)? (2) what was the default color of the old Internet Explore (for example Internet Explorer 4 for example), which he became white? In the old days, if you use IE4 to view a Web site that did not "bgcolor" in the body tag, you were presented with a background of dull ish, default to the browser. The question is once again, what is the value of that color dull ish in hexadecimal html (#)? Thanks a lot for your help!

  • With the help of old Windows CD to install the optional component deleted Outlook Express and I need to get it back!

We have received a Windows XP laptop from a friend and use Outlook Express for e-mail. We had a number of other things such as pilots with the laptop but not the Windows CD.  Then we wanted to reduce the size of a jpg image and I wanted to use MS Photo Editor to do what I then read on the Microsoft site that I could get by installing from any Windows CD.  Therefore, I used an old Windows XP CD from another PC, choose to install an optional component and chose as accessories to the next screen, ensure that all other options were struck down, assuming that so they would simply not be installed.  One of them was Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.  Instead of THIS the wizard DELETED Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.  When I tried to get him back by checking these options, asked me for the 2nd day of the original installation CD - which of course, I did not!  I have managed to re - download IE8 from Microsoft Download site, but of course do that for Outlook Express - and we don't have Office on this computer: (.)  Help!  (a) is it possible to reverse this process to remove/uninstall Outlook Express? (b) we now lost all our emails? (c) I already tried to go back to a previous good configuration, but that has not worked.

Thank you in advance for advice, answers or help.

First, make sure that OE has actually disappeared.  Go to start | Run and paste this and see if OE starts:

    "c:\program files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe".

Including the quotes and see if OE starts.  Very often "withdrawal" OE removes just the shortcut to it.

If this does not work, you can try reinstalling XP SP3 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/learn-how-to-install-windows-xp-service-pack-3-sp3), but you should probably uninstall IE8 first and then reinstall it later.

You can also go to the c:\windows\inf directory and locate the msoe5.inf file and right-click on it and choose Install and see if that fixes things.

    See if that works.

  • Is it ok to remove the old Windows updates as I have many of them take a lot of disk space?

I have several updates of microsoft for a few years. I am auto update, but all the old updates are still there. Is it necessary to keep or to delete to free up space. I get warnings that the computer is low on virtual memory.

original title: is it OK to remove the old windows updates as I have many of them taking place?

Virtual memory is used only when your physical memory has been exhausted.  This happens usually either when you have not restarted recently, or when you have too many programs running at the same time.  I suggest you reboot at least once a week and if it continues to happen, a purchase more RAM.

  • Hi, my old Windows XP computer died & the disc removed and installed in a box Sata/Ide.

My old Windows XP computer died & the disc removed and installed in a box Sata/Ide. I managed to export files, etc in my new Touchsmart Windows 7 with 310.

My old AddressBook has been exported successfully to the "Contacts" folder, but I can't "export" of contacts to the contacts list in my Windows Live Mail program.

I am connected to Windows Live Mail.

Please can someone help as I am confused with the Export/Import tabs & the small windows that follow.

  • Restore files and settings from my old Windows XP system to the newly installed Windows XP SP2.

My old Windows XP no longer works correctly - it would start to Windows, but that restart. Otherwise, all data and system files on the hard disk are completely legible [no error reported by various scans].

I made a copy of that old hard drive [with the problematic Windows XP] on a partition of my drive hard [second] another [using EASEUS Partition Master to copy the whole thing - it created an image of all the old hard disk on a special partition of the second hard disk].

That I took a third hard drive and installed a new Windows XP [SP2] on it. How can I transfer my files and settings from this partition of the second hard disk [which is the image of the original hard drive] third hard disk [which I now use as the bootable hard disk instead of the original one]?

Can I use "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" for whom? If so, how?

I think it's a little late for the transfer Assistant.  You should use it while the other drive has been started.  But you can try the wizard.
Run it and tell him that you are on the new PC.
So say no to create a wizard disk.
Then on the location of the files screen, select other and see if it will let you access the info on your another drive.
In my view, it will look for the file in the wizard, but it is worth it.

If this does not work then you need to just reinstall your programs and manually copy the data to your new drive. Typing of my new Windows 7 64 bit and love it! Soli Deo Gloria!

  • I recently our old Windows Vista out of storage, I'm helping with the implementation?

In fact, I have a series of questions keeping to that, but at the moment my highest priority is to find how to get it all together to the top.

We had it for 9 years, and during that time my mother was barely used and the only time I ever to remember being able to use would be in 2008 and 2012, but in those moments I was pretty young and I caused internet several related problems. After 2012, you don't really mess with it then, but now that I'm starting to regret buying a mac I recently just to set up our vista.

I got everything plugged. There is this blue connector Jack (which I assume is the monitor cord) and I connected on the screen where it belongs. There is another string (which I assume is the power cord) and it is plugged, so far, there are only two outlets in the monitor. The computer itself has a cord of black power, the mouse + keyboard cable and the cable from the monitor. Everything is plugged in and well, but after turning the computer and then proceed to turn on the monitor, I get a message that says 'No detected Signal' with three blocks under it, red, blue and green. Am I missing a cord?

One of the main reasons why I'm doing a switch from my mac to my old windows is due to PaintTool SAI, is available for Vista? And wacom is compatible with vista? It seems to be that some plug-ins to the back of the computer so that it could work. Also, would I be able to upgrade our computer to Windows 7 after setting up?

If it's a desktop pc, & 9 years old, then you must replace the battery in MB, it controls CMOS (plug & play).

Simply turn pc off, remove the battery, wait 10 min.replace with the new. Once the pc boot, enter the BIOS, reset

DateTime, the value for the add-on equipment, set the boot priority, save and exit. Also, read the owner's manual, + all ports

must have an icon engraved, showing what sound for... A year 9 old pc wouldn't be good, or compatible

Win 7 run microsofts Win 7 compatibility...

    Original title: Windows Vista (former)

I have an old windows vista on comp. (from 2003), I can get a newer version? I have a metman.exe close. How should I do? In addition, how to find the value of Associations on my computer?  Help, please.

    See if that helps you.

Before you try to upgrade to a later operating system (what to buy) read this notice.

And Microsoft sells more than 7.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

Do the following before upgrade you to Windows 8.1.

Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8 drivers available for your model.

There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:
