On photos on iphone with iCloud library storage

How can I limit the space used by photos in ios9 without deleting icloud?

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.

In most cases, optimize your photos should be enough to raise the space related issues on your device. However, if you have an exceptionally large library you may need to disable iCloud photo library on your mobile device and use instead the photo stream. You can then use a computer to manage the photo stream photos and have them automatically imported into you iCloud photo library.

I had a 6 128 GB iPhone for a couple of years and I bought a Macbook Pro about a year ago. I've been running iCloud photo library - but not Photostream - and without really look deep into the settings exactly, when I take pictures on my phone they usefully automatically found in the Photos app on my macbook. When I remove photos from my phone, they also seem to disappear too from my mac.

Recently, in an arrangement of happy until I started running low on space on my phone. My question is, is my library in 'mirror' between my devices? IE if I say, delete all my photos from 2012 to 2014 my phone, they are removed from my macbook too? Obviously, it would be disastrous.

I guess my question is, what are the best settings to have a situation where my photos will be driven by my phone to my laptop, but then stored on my laptop indefinitely?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

When you use iCloud photo library, deletion of a photo or a video on any device that uses the service will remove this item in all of them and also to iCloud.

The following resources may help explain how the photos and videos are managed by iCloud photo library, including the possibility to optimize the storage on your iPhone:

To manually import pictures to your laptop, you can follow the steps detailed here:

    Hello

My hard drive is to the maximum of storage, even if it seems that I'm optimistic and I have 200 GB in I cloud storage. I'm trying to free up space on my hard drive, but it seems that if I delete the photos on my drive, it will remove them in I have cloud as well. That *. Is there a way to get around this? The goal is to get them off the coast of my drive hard, but since I was so unused space on Icloud, simply use it as storage and download the photos if necessary.

    HELP Please?

    Thank you-kevin

If use you iCloud library then you have a single library that is shared between multiple devices and modifications (additions, edition or deletion) on any device are made on all devices - if this isn't what you want then do not use ICPL - it's easy

If you turn on optimize pictures on any device with storage limited as space is needed more small and smaller version will be used locally — reports are about 10% of the original

There is no option to iCLoud for storing pictures he only

You can use a disk external hard locally for storage is your storage space main is not 9 suitable for Photos, it should be in Mac OS extended (journaled) format and connected locally with a fast connection required

  • Photos about El Capitan with iCloud library active lose local photos?

Recently, I wanted to use iCloud library to have a backup of my personal memories cloud. I had my library set up in the Photos of El Capitan and allowed iCloud photo library. It is still downloading but I have known a few disruptive effects.

Then, suddenly, I realize that a few pictures and movies have an exclamation point. Clicking on it it tells me that the photo was not able to find the original file, or sometimes he says he wasn't able to download the original to iCloud and I should try again later.

The thing is: I'm on the Mac, where is the main library of Photos. Must download from here. He is the master copy. Why pictures removed some local files in the first place and try to upload them to iCloud again when he should just have this file on the local hard drive? This happened to someone?

By logging into iCloud.com and go in the Photos app, I can see the movie file is there. So he managed to download there, thank God. But how can I re - link the file missing to this copy iCloud again?

Here are my questions for this situation.

    (1) is it possible to create a smart album showing me all the pictures to what Photos can't find the local file? An album with all the pictures and movies that have an exclamation point?

    (2) is it possible to reconnect a file missing a copy in iCloud? Where can I download the file from iCloud and re-connect the missing file of Photos in a local file on my hard drive? Or do I need to import it back this picture and put manually into any album that I had it in earlier?

    (3) is this normal download process? Pictures downloading images and movies to iCloud, then delete the original or download the file from iCloud? Is it a problem of weird first sync that will resolve itself once I have let the download process to iCloud finish? But why deleted pictures from the file in the first place? This seems odd to me.

    (4) if nothing helps and I see that iCloud got all original and everything is there, but local library refuses to get the original to iCLoud files, how can I reset my local iPhoto library and redownload all icloud without endangering my album, photos, videos and all the settings and changes I made?

Thanks for your help! It's really appreciated.

1 - iCloud iPhoto Library s not a backup - it is a method of sharing to ensure that libraries on multiple devices are the same - all changes made on any device are made on all

2 - doe photos not "remove" anything - users - if something is missing it's because of the action of the user

3 - Although what you see does not sound as if it was your problem before you start making changes allow the process to complete stabilize - during the downloading process things can be wobbly

    4. There is no smart album to identify the missing originals

    5. in the preferences Photos do youhave that it set to download the originals on the Mac or use photos optimized?

6 - did you do any cleaning system or run software cleaning as MacKeeper or CleanMyMac (Hint - NOT - they are not necessary and can spoil things wrong)

leave again once the process completed before you make changes - one each thing is downloaded and stable then return for further assistance if you need

  • Mac photos on iPhone via iCloud

I have trouble understanding how to get the 5 500 + pictures and videos that are on my Mac App Photos on my iPhone via iCloud photo library, without the need for iTunes. Is this possible or should I return to the synchronization of photos in the Photos app on my iPhone via iTunes?

I ask because of the 5 500 + photos on Photos app, only 389 are on my phone. I read what parameters must be on, I read almost all of the articles on this. Without running into the boring generic Apple written article of how they work together seamlessly etc...

My settings are the following (updated as I was typing): on my iMac, I have in the Photos App preferences, iCloud library checked with the possibility to download the Original to this chosen Mac because I have tons of space for her, no problem. I have my photo stream checked and I have iCloud Photo Sharing checked.

On my iPhone, my settings are the following: iCloud library is on, with the possibility to optimize iPhone storage selected. I download on my photo stream on iCloud and sharing photos on as well.

My goal is to have all 5 500 + pictures and videos on my Mac App Photos on my iPhone via iCloud, however to optimize the pictures and videos on my iPhone. Is this possible? Am I missing a step?

UPDATE: quite possible, I might be a bit impatient lol I see the number of photos on my iPhone more. Although slow as * but growing. However, I would like to know if I put this in the right seat with the settings I said. However, I organised the people Album on my iMac, this exact organization should not be reflected on my iPhone via iCloud or are they two different infrastructures that should be organized separately using the photos I upload to the cloud?

Yes patience is a virtue - the initial download to ICPL is slow (my photo library 7000 took ten days) and until the downloads are completed downloads do not occur and accounts are flawed - keep the devices on and connected to power as much as possible, and to set the Mac don't not to fall asleep

  • Library of mobile Photos with iCloud library enabled

TL; DR: Library of Photos while using iCloud does not merge, but adds the entire library to iCloud, once again, in my case upgrade my plan of storage while plenty of space for this merger

    All,

I have been using iCloud photo library for a long time now to synchronize photos between devices, and.

I'm running out of space in the drive of my Mac, and I wanted to move the library to the SD card, so I followed the steps to copy the folder and then selecting the alt-click on the Photos icon library.

It works, all (or most) of the exhibition of photos very well.

When I go into Preferences > iCloud he says "iCloud for Photos features are available in the library of the system", so I go to Preferences > general and click 'Use as library system' which I think is the correct step since I don't want to spend the entire hard drive and SD card is always connected (it's a Transcend JetDrive Lite 330 enough to store things I don't usually work) (such as photos, music, files ISO and VMs). ICloud options are available click on, so I check 'iCloud photo library' and then it starts to redownload my entire library

Since the library is the same, I wasn't expecting to download and let me upgrade my iCloud-storage plan. I did, for fear of deleting something, but I have always received a lot of space in my 50 GB plan that I can see in system preferences > iCloud (using the ~ 37 GB).

This is the expected behavior and what I need to download again, all my photos? They're all here already!

Are there additional steps to follow when moving the library AND iCloud is activated? I sure miss what is obvious, but I followed all the steps described in official documents and other internet resources, nothing helps, that is: no way to avoid the double space in iCloud so spend my iCloud storage plan.

    Thank you!

This is the expected behavior and what I need to download again, all my photos? They're all here already!

    Yes.

Photos will download the library once again, because it cannot be sure that the library has moved is completely identical.  It is downloaded again and check for duplicates. Once the download is complete, you use more storage than before iCloud, but it will take a lot of time.

But it shouldn't be necessary to upgrade the storage plan. You should be able to demote him again as soon as the download is complete.

What I do, when I want to move the library to a new location is to create a new empty library on the new drive and then turn on the library empty as the iCloud photo library. The library will be downloaded icloud in the empty library instead of download. It's faster and avoid the prompt to upgrade storage iCloud. But the drawback is that I need to name all the faces again, given that the faces does not synchronize to iCloud. And the projects will be missing.  I'm keeping a copy of the original library in the new location, so I can use old projects and can find faces in the event of doubt about a name.

  • Photos stopped sync with iCloud

Dear community members, I use iCloud for synchronize Photos on three Macs and an iPhone. Suddenly, my photo library stopped sync on my MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, early 2015, OS X El Capitan 10.11.4).) I tried to add and remove pictures, but nothing happened. • copy in iphone to another iphone with icloud

I need to copy my photos, video, music, messages from my old iphone 4s to my new iphone 6 more, is it possible using icloud?

    Yes - it's very simple:

    1. make sure that the iOS on your new phone is the same or higher than the iOS on iPhone 4S that you will be a copy since. If the new phone is running an iOS which is lower than that of your iPhone 4 s. implement the new phone without using a backup, update of iOS, and then clear the new phone by following the instructions in step 2 below before restoration:

    1. backup your current device to iCloud, check that the backup is successful

    2. on your new device, if not on the screen "Hello" (if you see a homescreen instead), go to settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings to clear the unit. Once you see the Hello screen, follow the instructions and when asked, sign in using your iCloud ID and the password.

    3. you will be asked if you want to restore from a backup, select the backup you want to restore from and the kickoff of the restore process.

    4. check every now and then to ensure that it does not ask one password to another code that may have purchases or existing media on your iPhone that try to download to your new device.

    5. the restoration will end while applications complete the download. You can use it once the screen displays home, but don't get not impatient with apps that are download - they can take a long time. If one seems to hold everything up, delete it. You can always re - download later.

    Good luck

  • How to replace the iPhone with iCloud contacts contacts

I see a lot on the other hand... but I need help.  I spent hours on my reductive duplicates of MAC (2-3 each) and out Hung old addresses, etc..  I've narrowed my list of contacts from 1200 to 458.  Once I did, I have archived my new list of contacts "just in case."  When I go in iCloud on my computer, I see 458 contacts.  Large.  However, my iPad and iPhone are always a mess.  I thought that this was happening in iCloud would replace the junk on my devices.  I have read articles that said disable contacts in iCloud and it will ask you what you want to do with contacts - delete.  Yes, I did.  It has eliminated about 90 contacts and that's it.  Also, I went to all my e-mail and accounts disabled using contacts from gmail, yahoo, outlook etc.  Who does nothing either.

Summary: What's in my account iCloud, 458 contacts, is correct.  Now, how the hell do I clean my iphone and ipad and load these 458 contacting them and get rid of the 1200-1500 in each device now?  Waaaah.   Very frustrating that there is not a global deletion that I can find.

  • Can I remove the library from my Mac after the photos are uploaded to iCloud to free up storage space?

My Mac Book Pro storage is almost full, and I would like to transfer my photos to iCloud and remove them from my Mac. How can I do this? And how to display in iCloud?

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com).
