  Narrowing of the space is going to be potentially very expensive. Essentially, Oracle will remove lines at the end of the table and insert them into the free space you created by removing the other lines. So you will potentially generate a ton of roll forward. Of course, you must activate the movement of the row in the first table. And the table must be in a tablespace SAMS.

  It requires no additional disk space, and it does not lock the table with the exception of a short period of time at the end of the operation.

  Because you widen the column, all existing values are guaranteed to fit the new size. This should happen fairly quickly. If you were however decrease the size of a column, each value must be checked first before the DOF could complete to check it might all go in the smaller space. Change the alter table is a great value.

  If these fields are variable length (number, varchar2), then the space doesn't have to be 'reserved' for future data. Oracle will take care of the future inserts or updates of larger data as usual. If you increase a fixed length as a CHAR data type, then it is another story.

After a minute or two, it's status changed in 'Reconstruction '.

  Unfortunately, he's sitting on the 'Reconstruction' for about 3 weeks now and I'm a little reluctant to it reboot as I do always once a month.

  Normally a reconstruction will take up to 24 hours, depending on the size, to rebuild. With her, sit for 3 weeks, it seems that there is a problem.   After reconstruction in dba_ind_subpartitions I see only index status changed to USABLE.

  (1) after reconstruction of the index why the State always shows by n/a dba_ind_partitions and dba_indexes?

  Please help me if I missed all the steps during the reconstruction?

  It is expected, Local index for a partitioned table will indicate the status of dba_ind_partitions (normal partition) or dba_ind_subpartitions(composite partition). N/A does not mean unusable, you arrive seen appropriate.

  DBA_INDEXES will show the status of the index standard and if it has not partitioned global index.

  Yes, there are two data stores for the virtual machine located on the RAID array.  The virtual machine itself was stored in a different data store that was not in the raid array.

  I spent about 48 hours last week, including this morning, trying to coax ESXi recognizing volumes, with no luck.  Finally, I gave up and I removed the virtual computer hard drives that were on the corrupt data store.  Then the virtual machine came without problem.

  Finally, since I have everything on these 2 volumes backed up to a cloud provider, I have recreated the two data stores in the raid array and began the restoration process. It is currently running and has about 16 days left to go.

  Here's a tip for the user on the problems of Wi - Fi. Suggest from the top and bottom. Maybe one of them will help you.

  (1) restart you device.

  (2) resetting the network settings: settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Join the network again.

  (3) reboot router/Modem: unplug power for 2 minutes and reconnect. Update the Firmware on the router (support Web site of the manufacturer for a new FW check). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (recommended for 2.4 to 20 MHz bandwidth). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for 2.4 band.
