One of my two Firefox Windows is stuck at halfway offscreen

I am running Vista, fully updated. I have two windows open in firefox, both with ten legs. I was moving around and accidentally moved one half out of the screen. Now he is stuck there, and whenever I try to bring him back, he moves slightly, then freezes and doesn't let me do anything until I hit ctrl-alt-del; then when I hit Cancel and return to my office, the window is returned to its original position off screen. I tried to close all currently running C-Cleaner, then by restarting my computer, but no luck. The window returns to the same place and seeds even when I try to move it. I can move the other Firefox window without problems, and Word and windows Digsby. Any ideas?

In the Task Manager Applications tab, you can right-click each Firefox window and select to "maximize".

You can start by CTRL + ALT + DELETETask Manager.

  • Failed to open one of my Firefox windows open!

I have about 15 Firefox windows open right now. One of them was probably nearly 50 lozenges goes on it. This single Firefox window open is no longer for me.

I tried to turn off my different ways of the computer without closing Firefox so hoping that when I restart the computer, Firefox will give me the option to restore the windows and tabs. I had just planned to clear a bunch of tabs in the window of Firefox that had too many tabs running.

Problem is I can't get the restore window appears. All that happens is that all the latest open Firefox Windows starts automatically without giving me the restore window. Is there a way to get around this? Thank you.

After two abnormal closures, Firefox should present you with the "embarrassing" dialog allowing you to choose what windows/tabs you want to open. You can change your preferences so that Firefox does after any accident.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste the session and take a break while the list is filtered

    (3) double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and set the value to 0 (that's a zero).

To 'crash' Firefox, you can use the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), processes tab, to complete the process for firefox.exe.

Be aware that session restore manages a limited number of windows and tabs, as you can see in: config. I guess that these values may be increased a little, but is it browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo affecting 50 actually work I have no idea.

If they run different profiles, then Yes.

Thanks, but I use only 1 profile. However, I found the answer! If I restart/turn off / down pc WITHOUT closing a firefox session, he will come with the screen 'well, it's embarrassing"and list the TWO sessions to restore. The trick is not not to close before stopping! If you close them first, then you can only restore the session first (?).

  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  • A button to the Firefox window in the taskbar instead of several

I want just one button in the taskbar of my computer for the Firefox window and not several, each window for each open tab. How can I do?

There is a setting for whatever inform Windows on each of the individual tabs or only the active tab in each separate window. Here's where you can check and adjust that:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > tabs Panel

It's the last item: "show glimpses of tab in the Windows task bar. If this is checked, you get all THE tabs in all windows in the taskbar, and if it is unchecked, you get only the active tab in each window.

  • Firefox window shows only the half view

on opening firefox, only slightly more than half of the window is active, the rest shows a blurred vision of the background image. How can I maximize the window, please?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

You can check if there is an update for your display driver graphic card and search for hardware acceleration of related issues.

  • Everytime I open a new firefox window, a new tab opens with the new window. How do I stop this?

Everytime I open a new Firefox window, the new window opens to the page of hope (as I want him), but then a tab opens with the new window. I want Firefox to stop doing this. When I open a new window I want just the window to open it. I don't know how to solve this problem I've known idea how I did that happen. First of all, it happened when I hit Ctrl + N to open a new window, but I did not hit the "N" itself. I pressed one of the other keys around the "N" and this issue has started.

    It's quite strange!
