Online & computer games

We just got a new computer with Vista installed on the desktop. I play farmtown, and it is not letting me play. We also know the problems that we have to double-click to play games? Is it a permanent thing, it will always be like this or can we solve the double-tap. Help would be greatly appreciated

Hi spence1628,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft answers Forums.

Uninstall and reinstall the flash player.

Check if you are able to play the game in safe mode with network.

If you are able to play the game in safe mode with network, try to start clean to determine which third-party service is causing the problem.

In order to perform the clean boot, follow the steps in the link below:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

We can configure the option click to play games.

Follow the steps below:

Click Start and in the search box, type Control Panel.

Changing to Classic view, and then select Folder Options.

Under Folder Options, select the general tab and then lace up a tick on single click on each element.

Click on apply.

Click Ok.

This will configure the click of the mouse to single click instead of double-click.

I hope this will help you, good luck.

Kind regards

Good luck.

    Hi Asmoses,

This problem may occur if the display drivers are corrupt or there is a problem with the monitor. I suggest to uninstall it completely from your computer display drivers and install the latest drivers thereafter by accessing the computer manufacturer's website and check if it helps.

Also to uninstall the drivers from Device Manager. During the uninstallation, the device in the Device Manager, make sure that you follow the steps below:

    1. click on start.

2 access control panel > system > hardware > Device Manager.

    3. open Device Manager and expand the graphics card.

    4. Select the graphics card and uninstall the device.

During the uninstallation of the brand of the device, of course, you place a check mark against 'delete the driver for this device '.

You can also try to update the drivers for your graphics card in the Device Manager and check if it helps. Access the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers.

If you have another monitor, you can try to connect the computer and check if it displays the same way and post back the result.

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • Windows Vista and older computer games

Will be a Windows vista compatibility for Windows 95/98/2000 computer game?

    Hello lordst3ph3n,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Community Forum.

This a Yes/No/maybe answer.  Most of the software, games included, works with vista, and has very few questions, as appropriate.   However, some are not entirely compatible.  To check if your games is comapatible with Vista please visit the compatibility web site:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/

If the game is he listed as compatible, you're all set.  If it is listed as not compatible, you will either need to contact the manufacturer of the game for all possible patches or it will be inconsistent and you will not be able to play at all.  If the game is not listed either, then it simply means that he hsaa was not tested yet and it could very well be compatible.  In this case, I would try to install / them and see if it works.  Alternatively, you can try to run the exeutable for the game in one of the compatibility modes listed in the properties of the executable file of the game.

    Thank you

  • Computer game problems! Help

I bought a computer game for my laptop and it says it is only compatible up to Windows XP, but I know that in Vista, you are supposed to be able to run a program as if it is running an earlier version. Then I tried it 100 times and I also used the compatibility program, and it won't work at all! I get an error 1607, and he also says data error cyclic usage or something close to that. In any case, I really want to play my game. Help?

Install the software to a new folder that you created. Once thru, R.click on it, properties, configured to run

in XP compatibility. If the option does not exist, it would be not compatible vista but does not

not just seems, like most xp and vista software. In addition, you may need to open the folder, or open the

Properties of the game cd, locate the .exe or installation file, R.click on it, properties, compatibility

    tab, run in xp mode.

    Hi Donna,.

The CD yourself that run other games or programs - in essence, are CDs recognized beiing and works in general?  When you insert the CD, the Windows Explorer recognizes it as being there and you are able to explore the folders and files of the CD?  That is the only question when you click Run, it won't work?  Are you sure that it can run from the CD?  Maybe it should be installed on the hard disk of the computer or installed on the computer instead of clicking on run from CD.

Another option is to contact the manufacturer of Casino II games and see if their technical assistance service or other technical support options can help you with this problem.

  • Developer campaign allowed under contract Microsoft Remote Connection Online computer repair

Hi guys, I Rok, I'm new here. I have a 2002 XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3, computer Office Optima. My story is as follows.

I get phone calls to my landline number silent on a regular basis, people claiming to be a repair computers contracted authorized Microsoft online business, responding to a request from Microsoft to call me and take care of my error reports I sent on my errors blue screen STOP I get always at various time intervals, every week , every 15 days then nothing for several weeks, even if just sitting and playing Solitaire?

First I asked the appellant how he got my number silent? A claimed that it it came down to the Global for Windows Server. Yes? Second, I asked where it was the appeal of the appellant and what day and time he was there, as the appellant said he was calling from California? CLICK! The phone was cut off. My time was about 16:45, the time of the coast is American about 17hours is behind Brisbane, the appellant worked so-called round 11:00 at night? Other times calling said he called Albert Park in Melbourne. Once in Blackhold Sydney, on the north side of the bridge. LIES! There is no such thing as a suburb.  I lived and worked in Sydney for many years. The name of the company ranging from IYOGI to developer of the campaign, authorized Microsoft contracted computer repairers.

Kept getting calls over the next few days, always very late in the afternoon, bordering at the time of the dinner, last call Saturday, April 26 at 16:50 of the same that called authorized Microsoft to Contracted computer repair company, call supposedly Bankstown, Sydney, asked him the time of day and his response in a minute or two of good time. Asked his supposed company, name, address and phone number as indicated in the Telstra phone book. Said their premises were at 58, Wacker Bankstown Street, phone number 2-6172-1130 and insured was a toll-free number. Yes, of course. Nothing found on the website of Telstra white pages of course.

Focus of the appellant each time survey looks a lot like subcontinent, Sri-Lanka/Bangladesh, start mumbled, difficult to understand English, whispering who he was and who he has represented and to turn on my computer and connect to the internet and follow his instructions to enable it to connect to my computer remotely to him find errors, viruses , Trojans and others, so he could clean up and repairs. Yes, of course mate. Pigs will fly too.

I politely told the appellant last Saturday I would make some checks on their phone number and address, contact Microsoft, possibly make a re - install, fix my problem of slow processor, on that I read maybe can sometimes be corrected with a pure install. When you type in the address bar, type emails, text takes time to appear and BACKSPACE to correct and editing, I do not click on 'Back' too many times, so that the amount of text being wiped out, although I've been hit here makes its appearance in real time no delay between the typing and have to wait to see if everything is correctly typed. Perhaps with all my complete scans with my arsenal of fighting the bad guys I, everything what may have caused the delayed appearance of the text typed has been fixed.

OK good people. I'm curious if I can still get Microsoft help to my error messages that I send to them, well that when I got to the top of the Microsoft Help page, a large message told me that XP support is no longer available, so I can send my error message turn off and keep up-to-date with the Microsoft online forums it is why I just joined upward.

May you all have a great day and I hope to hear from some of you, when you have the time to write.

    At latest.

    The Republic of Korea.

Neither Microsoft nor any organization of legitimate computer repair will call you offering repair your computer.  Only accept computer assistance of communication on the basis that you initiate.

'Mistake reports' sent to Microsoft is not asking for help.  To the extent where these reports are considered at all, it is only for statistical purposes.  Microsoft does NOT use these 'mistake reports' to help all people.  Theoretically, if thousands of reports all suggest a common problem, Microsoft pourrait consider putting this problem at the bottom of a long list of things to do.

If you have a specific problem, a good way to get help is to ask a question here, be as specific as possible in the description of your system as long as the symptoms of your problem.  Although a clean installation may well solve many problems, it is usually not necessary and may require a lot of work to return to the State you started from.

What to include in a request for help:

    • The edition of Windows (XP Home, Vista Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional) and service pack (none, 1, 2, 3) in use.  It can be found by right click on 'My Computer' (or 'Computer') and selecting Properties.
    • The full text of the error message, without paraphrasing
    • If you've kept Windows Update by using Windows Update
    • If you have a real Windows install CD/DVD, and if so, what edition and service pack it is if you have"recovery disk"by the manufacturer, say it.
    • The name and version of your anti-virus and if you updated program
    • The names and versions of all other security software installed or recently used
    • A concise description of the problem
    • The details of any hardware printer that seems to be involved, for example, the brand and model of your computer, router, network adapter, etc.
    • What happened to your system in a short time before the problem started (for example, power failure, abnormal system shutdown, use of registry cleaner, attack or remove malware, etc..)

  • Big fish on my windows vista computer games

I have a program called big fish games. After I played each game I uninstall the game from my computer.

When I check my files roaming these games appear after you uninstall them. My question is is it safe to delete these files of roaming from big fish games that I uninstalled? I have checked with big fish games, but could not get an answer to my question. Could someone help me with this question.

    Thank you

If you are sure that these folders belongs to the game that you have already uninstalled, you can remove them completely. When you uninstall a program, sometimes some instances of the program such as the folder will remain in the PC and you can remove them manually.
