Only 1 CPU Core is recognized on the Satellite L650-1MC

Hello guys, once again

As the title says, only 1 CPU core is recognized on my L650-1MC. There an i5 480M CPU.

The task manager has two graphics and I can change to/from the "one graph per cpu and one graph, all CPUs" in the options display, although that I thought she should have 4 graphics; which is logical that the CPU has 4 wires, so should have 4 graphics.

Any ideas? I tried msconfig and reset the number of processors, but then it resets the memory to 2 GB so I have to reset that and restart it to recognize all the 6 GB of ram. but then my cpu is a nucleus! It seems that I have a dual core cpu and 2 GB of RAM or a simple core cpu and 6 GB ram! ATM I'm on a single processor core with 6 GB of ram. I think the only thing I can do is reset the cpu in msconfig and reboot and see if it works, but then it will set the RAM to 2 GB. I 'afraid' to uncheck the CPU and RAM at the same time, incase of my laptop computer won't load at all. What do you think?

It is not too much a problem; If I had only 2/3 GB of RAM, then it would be a problem, would be just nice to have my CPU dual core of return!

As always, I would be really grateful for any help with it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello

You tested it with a 3rd party software called ' speccy
Have you tested other tools like Everest Home Edition or CPU - Z?

Strongly recommend do it and compare the results, because a single tool can provide erroneous values.

  • RAM is not recognized on Satellite L650-1MC

    Hello guys

I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-1MC with an i5 480M CPU and 4 GB DDR3 PC3 - 10600 (2 x 2 GB modules). Today, I got a 4 GB of DDR3 PC3-8500 module to upgrade the RAM 6 GB. I put this new module in and he was not recognized, perhaps because it was PC3-* 8500 * not * 10600 * like the original other two modules.

However, when I tried to put one of the modules of 2 GB DDR3 PC3 10600 original in once again, he was not recognized or the other! I then left the second empty slot, with nothing in it, and he acknowledged the 1 module 2 GB in there. Do you intend the PC3-8500 module "corrupt" the memory slot, or is it not positioned properly, as seems to be slotted into a fine; It will not move.

I would really appreciate your help

    Hello Tom

There must be a compatibility problem. Forum is filled with similar reports. You should only use compatible and tested modules.
I highly recommend to use modules from Kingston.
Compatible RAM for your laptop model you can find on http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/lines.asp?root=uk&LinkBack=http :// www.kingston.com/ukroot&Manufacturer=tos&search_type=

  • Issue of recovery on the Satellite L650-12n

I have the Satellite L650-12n. I bought recovery discs out of this Web site to install on my Crucial CT256MX100SSD1. Installation seems to work but then after you restart the computer, this message appears.

"windows cannot complete the installation. to install windows on this computer restart installation. »
    and sometimes:
"installation of windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

I tried twice and it's the same thing.

I looked in the BIOS and the SSD drive is recognized. I tried to reset to the default values, but nothing seems to work.

No matter what help get beyond this problem before I bin batch would be much appreciated!

You said you use the SSD drive.
I guess it could be the reason why the recovery is not working properly.

Formats and create new partitions on the HDD/SSD drive recovery.
Sometimes, it would be possible that partitions can not be created properly because of different HDD / sizes SSD.

It would be interesting to know if you can complete the installation by using the old HDD.

  • Upgrade memory on the Satellite L650-1PN

    Hello

How can I upgrade the Satellite L650 1PN RAM?

I need to know the 4 GB DDR3 1066 Mhz modules part numbers or equivalent modules that work effectively in the L650 1PN.

Thank you for your kind attention

  • Windows resource monitor shows only a CPU core when he should have four.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1
    Intel Core i3 2330 m-hyperthreading

Resource monitor normally indicates two nuclei and Hyperthreaded (a total of four graphs) when seen on the tab CPU recently single core (one graph) is displayed. This change is caused by one of the updates of Windows or an indicator of a hardware problem? Is there a recommended KB or a patch that solves it?

original title: change of resource monitor (?)

You asked: "what version of Windows 7 do you have?" ... Home Premium x 64, SP1 as indicated at the beginning of my first post.

As my screen name, incurably curious, says I couldn't let it go. Assistance in the meantime, I searched tirelessly and found a cure. I had to make a change through msconfig. I don't have any idea how the settings have been changed because no one else is using this machine.  [????] (Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes returns own scans; so I doubt that the cause is associated malware.) The following explains what I've done and the results.

    1. I went into msconfig > startup > advanced options and find the number of processors, set one. The arrow to expand a menu drop-down has also shown that a single processor. Which did not make sense because my processor Intel Core i3 2330 M's two core with hyperthreading.
    2. I unchecked the box and restart the computer.
    3. I returned the number of processors as described in #1 above. Expand the menu gave me the choice of 1, 2, 3 or 4 processors. I chose two and checked the box.
    4. I rebooted the computer again.
    5. I checked the monitor of resources (via the Task Manager) and found multiple graphics, I'm used to the display. The graphics are labeled: Service use of the CPU, CPU 0, 1 parked CPU 2 CPU and CPU3 parked.
    6. Parked CPU1 and CPU3 parked show no activity, which is expected. These show only activity when hyperthreading is active, which is rare with the programs I run. Only programs written specifically to hyperthreading use the feature.
    7. CPU utilization service CPU2 and CPU0 show activity as expected.
    8. Manager tasks shows four graphs still now.

The reason why I know not what to expect is that I have upgraded RAM and completed cooling there are a few months and one of my tools use resource monitor to control the computer. (I used other means to monitor the internal temperature). I managed to run enough programs to use more than 7 GB, the 8 GB available RAM and CPU usage Dungeon in the range of 75 to 100% for more than an hour during trials. Hyperthreading (CPU1 and CPU3) clearly indicated to be active too. Time CPU ran in the range 165F without additional cooling and order of 125-130 with additional cooling.

I will wait for return of the answers with explanations and/or questions until I got this mark as resolved.

  • My CPU has been replaced on the satellite P series

    Hello

I'm new to the Forum and registered once more to the entire page to Toshiba, because I have problems with my laptop.

A month ago, my laptop just stop while I was working on this subject, as usual, nothing special. He replied, I have been particularly concerned since the battery is not showing there was either. So, send us it to the official service of Toshiba in my country. I was told that the problem was in the graphics card, and they replace.

But when they came back to her, I saw that my laptop was very slow, and that the fans were not working as they did. A fan was defective (CPU was about 100% even if nothing has been selected), we have them sent back immediately, thinking he was just damaged during the service.

Now, I'm back, that there is nothing wrong with any part of it, except that my avast! free version of House (which I use for about 3-4 years on my old computer now) drains the power of the processor. When nothing is on, only avast!, it takes 60 MB of RAM and 9-10% CPU. But when I commit a game (minimum requirements for it are 256MB, my laptop has 2 GB of RAM) and Windows Live Messenger with avast! and the windows firewall, of course, CPU goes to 100%, while the RAM usage is about 1 GB.

I disable avast! still 100%. I used two windows of this game, Winamp, Windows Live Messenger and avast! / Firewall windows and nothing seemed slower or lag. The game is a bit now, I have all first only need a cleaning/Defrag, but even after the result is the same.

They say on the box/sticker Dual - Core AMD TURION 63 X 2 TL-60, while on my system properties, he says only AMD Turion 64 X 2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz. My logic tells me that there is a difference between these two, right? Or they are both part of the same series, just minor differences?

I'm not a computer genius, have amateur on computer knowledge, please bare with me.

Thank you for your help and I appreciate any advice at all.
    Luka.

    Hello

Could you please put your laptop model, it would be possible to say what CPU was built into your laptop.

As I m not wrong the Avast scans (anti-virus software) files together and transfer of data in the background of the OS. This could emphasise the CPU a bit.
If you use games and other programs do a CPU stress a little bit more. So, in my opinion, it is a common behavior of portable and usually you should t be worried.

A hint; I use an application of Antivir. Its freeware Antivirus software and it makes a not to stress the CPU and doesn't need a lot of material resources like other antivirus software.
Try it out and check how it works on your laptop.

  • Ask about the maximum memory recognized in the Satellite Pro 4200/4300 series

I thought that the maximum RAM that could be recognized in the series SP4200/4300 of machines was the 64 MB on board, over a maximum of 2 X 128 MB tapes in the two expansion slots for a total of 320 MB.

However, I came across an ad from someone who claims to have managed to get recognized 448 MB (64 MB on board, 256 MB in a slot and 128 MB in another location) in a SP4270. This seems to go against what was supposed to be the maximum specification of 320 MB, consisting of 64 MB on board 2 X 128 MB in the expansion slots.

The accepted view was that 128 MB memory bands was the maximum that could be recognized in each of the slots. However, it seems that this employee have discovered that this is not the case.

Other contributors have some luck with the modules of memory of 256 MB being used/recognized by the machines SP4200/4300? The poster suggested that the machine could cope with a 256 MB module and a 128 MB module.

Any comments from anyone who might have tried this or variations on this? What two 256 MB modules? -Someone at - it tried?

I do not have this good old classic, but I can just confirm your info on maximum RAM. I imagine that the RAM for this oldie modules are not expensive. Why not take a risk and buy a 256 MB module.

  • HARD drive is not recognized on the Satellite 2800 200

    Hello

First of all, I'm Dutch so I hope that I do not have too many mistakes in my English writing.

    I bought a 2800-200 Satellite at a friend's House. This laptop has a problem.
When it is started is says "insert the disk in the drive system. Press a key when readya?.

My bios is ACPI BIOS version 1.80
In Pheripheral in Bios it says disc hard = not used Mode.

On page two discs i/o: HARD drive: no drive.

I tried two hard drives and the two were not working and not recognized in the BIOS.
I have no CD of restoration.

    My questions:

What kind of central computer has this laptop?
Can someone help me with the recovery CD?
What can I do to fix this?
How can I change my BIOS so that the HARD drive is recognized?

My hard drive is MK2023GAS and is not broken. There is nothing on this HARD drive.
But also with the disk hard 10 GB of origin, I had the same problem.

I hope you can help me and once again I apologize for my English.

    Hello

I'll try to help you my friend.

    > When it is started is says "insert the disk in the drive system. Press any key when ready
This message appeared on my laptop after the HARD disk is dead.
I had to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

I guess that it of the same problem with your laptop. The HARD drive is not present or not recognized, and you will need to install a compatible HDD for the operation of the OS.

I have google a bit and discovered that this laptop comes with the 10 GB HARD MK1016GAP of Toshiba drive. It supports the interface ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4/ATA-5.

Please note that many BIOS have a limit of size of HARD drive. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported! I assume a 20 GB should be compatible, but this is just my own opinion
    > How can I change my BIOS so that the HARD drive is recognized?
The BIOS can be modified outside the update (check page driver Toshiba-> Archive-> archive of Satellite).
But vary important is that you use a compatible HARD drive.

    > Can someone help me with the recovery CD?
Don t know if you will be able to order this CD at the service provider allowed in your country, because the laptop is really an oldie. But you should ask the guys.
What you is to install the OS from the Microsoft CD-ROM and then could install drivers needed.

  • WiFi connection falls back only when the Satellite L650 is sitting on the glass desk

Since I bought a new Ikea glass desk, free wifi on my laptop Toshiba has been stalling. It took me a while to put the two together.

Whenever I'm sitting there on the desk, wifi is de-energized, but as soon as I took it off the table, wifi will reconnect immediately and it works normally.

I used it on a covered with _wooden in the same region and it works completely fine and never gave up.

I recently bought a Toshiba wireless mouse which said seller works on any surface. Well, it doesn't work on my glass desk and I had to buy a mousepad for that and now it works...

I'm using Windows 7 Home Edition premium on a Toshiba Satellite L650 laptop computer model No.: PSK1JA - 0K 3017.

Please help me solve this problem! What can I do to stop falling out wifi while it sits on the glass desk? All responses are much appreciated thanks!

    Hi Chan

I m very surprised after reading your interesting ad. To be honest, I use Toshiba laptops for a long time now and I ve never used on glass desk so I don't have any experience with this issue and I also think that you are the first person that relates to this topic.

It's a really new and very interesting information. I m really interested on this thread and I would like to hear more of other people who use the glass desk.
What to do about it? Simple question, but I fear none of us can give you good advice on this topic m.

OK it's a nothing with your question, but if you use it on the desktop you can use the connection to the LAN? I mean that if you may have a kind of Home Office you must connect using the connection to the local network. I do though that the WLAN router is active.

  • On the Satellite L650-19W keyboard problems

    Hello

A very strange and annoying problem developed on my laptop about four days ago. First of all, here's my laptop specs:

    Satellite L650 - 19W
    8 GB RAM (DDR3)
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Intel Core i5 CPU

The problem is that some of the keys also trigger others.
For example, whenever I have reached space I get a 'p' first, followed by a space, exactly the same thing happens when I press 'p '.

Similar results occur with the 'h' and ' 6 ', ' 3' and the '+', the 2 and the ' / ', the 'f' and 4', as well as a few others. The passage of the right hand does not work with all keys and BACKSPACE can not be held down, IE only deletes one character at a time.

I tried to restore to a point in front of what is going on started, as well as the stop, remove the battery and holding down the button start for 60 s, the two nothing helps. I have read similar problems, some people have recommended BIOS update.

I downloaded an update of the BIOS for this computer from Toshiba Web site, but I'm wary to run due to a lot of people say you can ruin your ifp computer you don't know what you are doing, is it true?

Any help would be appreciated, because she makes me crazy! It took half an hour to type this message!

    Hello

I think that there is no other solution than to replace the internal keyboard.
I guess its problem of keyboard internal a simple malfunction what can happen to the keyboards of the domestic.

Have you tried external USB keyboard? Try and test how the unit would be.
I guess it will work properly and the question wouldn t occur in external USB keyboard.

  • On the Satellite L650-116 product key recovery

    Hello

I am owner of laptop Toshiba Satellite L650-116. I bought my laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (OEM license) original. Unfortunately I am forced to reinstall my Windows 7 system, but I realized that my product key sticker is wiped out (I can't recognize any of the numbers). I don't know if I have the recovery partition (I know there is a way to reinstall Windows, if you have this partition).

Are there opportunities that I can restore my product key without having to buy a new one?

I would be grateful for a quick response!
    Greetings,
    Edyta.j

    Hello

At first, I have to tell you that this product key that you can see on the Microsoft sticker doesn't help. This product key belongs to the original version of OS you have with your machine, it cannot be used to activate Windows if you install your own version.

First try to install the original recovery, if possible. How it works, you can read on - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

  • Slow speed by phone as a modem on the Satellite L650

OK so I got this new Toshiba Satellite L650 and I was connecting to the internet via my phone as a modem (dial-up speed :()
My phone says it is capable of download speeds up to @ 150 Kbps, but the connection is never active...
It remains active for about 6 seconds, then drops off to start again and so on and so forth...

So I bought a stick mobile broadband and the connection seems good... all full service bars and a so-called speed of 2mbps, but the same thing... it starts at about 200 Kbps and less than 10 seconds it drops to 400 bps and then stops...

What the hell I am doing wrong? I downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba site and updated the bios? HELP Please?

I doubt it has something to do with the laptop.

  • No access to the Satellite L650 (PSK1JA) network

    Hello

I have a portable satellite L650-PSK1JA-0ED017 who is struggling to find network devices.

The history on this laptop is... Hard drive failed, so a replacement was installed (Win7 home x 64) OS has been reinstalled from the recovery disks created at time of purchase. The laptop worked perfect for about 2 months, but all of a sudden would not load drivers LAN or WLAN.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall, using the existing driver and also download the driver from Toshiba. I always get the message "Windows could not load the drivers for this device error 31". I suspected hardware fail, but managed to restart and get the old HDD running and was able to see available networks, so that rejected this theory.

Then I suspected viruses or Malware, but ran scans for them and found nothing.

Can anyone suggest how to remove all traces of existing drivers so that I can reinstall with cost downloads to check there is not a corrupted file the cause.

I tried to plug in a USB networking device and also get the "error 31, Windows cannot load driver". IM starting to think that this is not some other driver to do with the network, rather than a specific network device driver interfaces.

I tried to do a Sysprep in the OOBE, while keeping all the data of the software that we have installed / copied, but it does not and I have been unable to fill.

Really, I don't want to do a cover of the OS, but I'm as a last resort.

    Any help appreciated.

    Jon

    Hi Jon

I use laptops Toshiba several years now and I was ever faced with such a problem, especially if the laptop is preinstalled with original recovery image. Recovery image contains tested drivers and they work. I noticed that Windows update offers for some driver WLAN models as optional update. I hope you didn t install.

Googling around for you can find many links and forums on such topic debates. You can check out what write about other people, but if you can't fix it with reinstalling the driver I assume there must be a problem with the registry entries. It is quite complicated to clean especially for someone who doesn t have enough experience with that.

In my opinion you should backup all your data and reinstall the recovery image. Start using the laptop with preinstalled OS clean and check from time to time restore point.
I know it is the last option but more simple and more efficient.
