Onyx

Is Onyx safe to use, I have an iMac Desktop Os X El Capitan version 10.11.5. I read the discussion step by step to fix your Mac ds store in the center of the dark area do not know if its good for download or not.

It should be used if you know what you're doing. He is not actively malicious, but can be dangerous if used.

    Do not use OnyX. Non-Apple utility such as he are not reliable. What's worse, is that they are more than capable of causing problems where none exist, or exacerbate existing problems.

    If your Mac is running normally, none. However, you need to implement a reliable backup strategy, such as Time Machine: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support.

  • Onyx 2.1.4226 question

    I have a problem with strange connectivity with Onyx. All my vCenters currently 5.0 U3. While trying to access the server vCenter and launch the viClient thru Onyx Onyx, I get an error message - the vSphere Client has lost connection to the server "host name of the client running Onyx. You want to return to the connection dialog box? The error occurs while the vSphere client displays the message «Loading inventory...» »

    Looking at the vi client log, I observe that things start normal, but then a message -connection [hostname of the client running Onyx] status: disconnected - appear. This is followed by many Vmomi.Fault.NotAuthenticated: the session is not authenticated. entered, then the vSphere Client throws the error mentioned above.

    This problem occurs when you connect to v5.0 U3 ESXi hosts and vCenter U3 v5.0 servers.

    I have some servers ESX 4.0 and everything by making those connections, everything works fine.

    I'm doing something wrong? Are special system requirements? Makes me wonder if ESXi/vCenter v5.0 supported U3? Help, please!

    You can try the new version (http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmw-tools/onyx/Onyx_2.2.5161.29309.zip) to see if it works. I don't know, but it could be related to recent developments in security the default settings for the SSL connection.

  • Onyx seems broken in VC 5.5

    I know that this project is supported and VMware tries to make us stop using the thick client. But I always use onyx fairly regularly to generate powercli scripts to automate common workflow in my environment. I just tried to connect to my new VC 5.5 do not access. If I point to an another VC 5.1 it works fine. For my case, I'll just do all of my generation of script on my 5.1 VC but would if someone finds a resolution for VC 5.5.

    Thank you

    Tim

    A new version that supports vSphere 5.5 is now available at http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmw-tools/onyx/Onyx_2.2.5161.29309.zip

  • WARNING: Type "SByte" is not available in the public API. Development of Onyx?

    Hello, I get the WARNING WARNING: Type "SByte" is not available in the public API.

    and various other warnings. The problem is that I see no code.

    Any thoughts? BTW is onyx under development?

    PS: I know nobody will answer so I wonder why I keep asking.

    The vSphere client employs some hidden APIs. If you perform an action in the vSphere client that uses a hidden API, Onyx will report the "warning: Type 'xxx' is not available in API public." message. Unfortunately, this limits what you can do with PowerCLI. Some know hidden API are tags, mode of EVC cluster and storage profiles.

    I don't know if the Onyx is still under development. Maybe some of VMware can answer this question?

  • Onyx does not display anything

    I tried to connect to a server vCenter 5.1 using Onyx.

    And after the connection to the vCenter server, I added a processor for a virtual computer using vSphere Client .net.

    Please help me with this problem.

    Let me know if I am missing measures.

    Note: I use this utility on Windows-7 (32-bit) with .net framework 3.5.1

    Thanks in advance,

    Apapap,

    When you start the VirtualCenter c# Client and enter IP address of vCenter, are you remembering to specify the port that listens to Onyx? See the screenshot by VK may 20... If you don't tell the VC Client to connect to Onyx, Onyx can intercept API calls to display in the language you want...

  • Onyx 2.1.4

    5.1 PowerCLI, VCenter U2, U2 of ESXI 5.0 5.0 release 2

    I just downloaded the latest Onyx, but I don't see any output when connecting to my virtual centres using powercli or the VIclient.

    I have connected the vCenter and click Start.  Anything else I can check?

    Hi Mark,

    Onyx, certain output is removed by default. If you go to Onyx in settings - output then you can deselect ignored methods. If you uncheck all the, then you can definitely get out of Get - VM.

  • How to retrieve the view coming from Onyx?

    Hello

    I started to use the Onyx project recently. That is truly amazing to see what he does. I wonder if there is a possibility to check the main view... let my try to explain this.

    I want to change the box of esxi5 - Advanced/Logging option to external syslog server.

    While in the interface graphics, I did my steps and Onyx prints the output:

    #---UpdateOptions-

    $changedValue = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue [] (1)
    $changedValue [0] = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue
    .key $changedValue [0] = "Syslog.global.logHost".
    $changedValue [0] .value = "tcp://x.x.x.x:514".

    _this $ = get-view-Id "OptionManager-EsxHostAdvSettings-456.
    _this $. UpdateOptions ($changedValue)

    This does not work as expected. I can throw it to powercli and it will introduce the option. This works only for this area special esxi. I want to create a loop that will change this option to each area of esxi in the cluster.

    The view that uses onyx is: ' Get-View-Id "OptionManager-EsxHostAdvSettings-456'»»

    That he already knows the moref / host of the view.

    But if I would like to have this in a loop, so it will do for each host, so how can I get this kind of view?

    So far, I could build only something like

    foreach($vmhostview_in_(get-view-ViewType_HostSystem-SearchRoot_(get-cluster_"xxyyzz").ID))

    {

    $changedValue = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue [] (1)
    $changedValue [0] = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue
    .key $changedValue [0] = "Syslog.global.logHost".
    $changedValue [0] .value = "tcp://x.x.x.x:514".

    $number = $vmhostview.moref.split("-") [1]

    _this $ = get-view-Id OptionManager - EsxHostAdvSettings - $nombre
    _this $. UpdateOptions ($changedValue)

    }

    Which is totally stupid approach I think it works... splitting moref...

    After a while, I noticed that

    http://pubs.VMware.com/VI-SDK/visdk250/ReferenceGuide/Vim.option.OptionManager.html

    Said OptionManager is owned by configuration manager. So that I could get the id from this point of view:

    ((get-vmhost myHost | get-vue).) ConfigManager.AdvancedOption). ToString()

    which will result in the output: OptionManager-EsxHostAdvSettings-456

    In order to have this I could make my loop at the end:

    foreach($vmhostview_in_(get-view-ViewType_HostSystem-SearchRoot_(get-cluster_"xxyyzz").ID))

    {

    $changedValue = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue [] (1)
    $changedValue [0] = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue
    .key $changedValue [0] = "Syslog.global.logHost".
    $changedValue [0] .value = "tcp://x.x.x.x:514".

    _this $ = get-view-Id ($vmhostview. ConfigManager.AdvancedOption). ToString()

    _this $. UpdateOptions ($changedValue)

    }

    Now I don't know that it was just a chance that I found the location of the view name or it's the way I'm supposed to find the name of view id. I wonder how other people treat such cases, if there is more easy way to do it. If someone could share its experience I would really appreciate it.

    Kind regards

    Greg

    There is not need to build these view ID as you see them from Onyx.

    In fact, I wanted to write this script like this

    $changedValue = New-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue[] (1)
    $changedValue[0] = New-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue $changedValue[0].key = "Syslog.global.logHost" $changedValue[0].value = "tcp://x.x.x.x:514"

    Get-View -ViewType HostSystem -Searchroot (Get-Cluster "xxyyzz").ExtensionData.MoRef | %{
      $optMgr = Get-View $_.ConfigManager.AdvancedOption  $optMgr.UpdateOptions($changedValue)
    }

    • Move the part that does not change with each HostSystem outside the loop
    • The ConfigManager is a table with MoRefs pointing to the respective managers. You can just do a Get - view with a MoRef and it returns the object that represents the Manager
    • From the object manager, you can now call the method

    BTW, you better see the last SDK Reference.

    You can find the HostConfigManager here.

  • Output conversion Onyx

    I need activate SSH within a workflow for added guests, this is temporary so that we can scp to her things.  I got out of the Onyx, but I do not know how to convert this into a workable script in vCO.  I know that I have to change the managedObject part but I'm not sure what it takes.  Here is the result:

    // ------- StartService -------
    managedObject.startService("TSM-SSH");  // HostServiceSystem
    // ------- UpdateServicePolicy -------
    managedObject.updateServicePolicy("TSM-SSH", "off");  // HostServiceSystem

    The text in the comment to the right of the line of code indicates the type of object of the 'managedObject' that is represented in the code.

    So, a little through the api, you will find that a HostServiceSystem object is actually a property of the configuration manager, which is a property of the VC:HostSystem object.

    With this search for the road, set up a task scriptable with a VC:HostSystem as input (here I named it "hostSystem")

    // hostSystem is a VC:HostSystem input to the scriptable task
    var hostServiceSystem = hostSystem.configManager.serviceSystem;
    hostServiceSystem.startService("TSM-SSH");
    hostServiceSystem.updateServicePolicy("TSM-SSH","off");

    Reference Online to discover the object of "HostServiceSystem":

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.VMware.wssdk.apiref.doc_50/Vim.host.ServiceSystem.html

    Hello! See also the Readme in onyx. You must manually create the package and import a single action of the onyx installation folder.
