Oops! Aspire Z1620 - UR31P BIOS upgrade - Windows 10

It's 'oops' as in, oops, when I upgraded my Aspire Z1620-UR31P (Windows 7) and Aspire E1-732-4651 (8.1 Windows) Windows 10 I have not noticed the asterisk Acer community important: "Please make sure that upgrade the BIOS before upgrading to Windows 10." Because of installation - especially with the unit Windows 7 problems - I was forced in one installs own for both machines. So, as discussed on this forum, when you perform a clean installation of Windows 10 a key product already is located in the BIOS and is read from the BIOS by installing Windows 10 and authenticated to the first connection by the web. Considering a digital facility right I guess it's too late to follow the BIOS upgrade alert, because I'll lose 10 Windows activation. Am I wrong?
At the moment the two machines operate smoothly with Windows 10, but unlike the E1 the Z1620 fails repeatedly to accept the first update Windows 10 major: "Upgrading to Windows 10 Home, Version 1511, 10586." Two-thirds in the update comes a blue screen hang up, requiring a hard stop, failure to automatically restore the update, and finally an automatic restoration of the earlier Windows 10 build after the message: "error updating Windows 10 0xC1900101 - 0 x 40017. Installation failed in phase SECOND_BOOT with an error during the START operation. »

You should be able to upgrade the BIOS, even if this first version of Windows 10 is already installed. The Windows key will remain during the upgrade of the BIOS.

How much space you have on the C drive? It is possible that the upgrade of 1511 fails with an out of space error... They are quite cryptic with error codes.

  • Aspire 5560 stopped scrolling shortly after upgrading Windows 8 Pro

A few minutes after installing the upgrade of Windows 8 offer that I got with my Aspire 5560 on my touchpad scroll function no longer works.  When I checked the support for drivers downloading Web site, I found two ads for the 5560.  A list was 5560 15 "and there is no drivers for Windows 8 and the other was 5560G that does not have Windows 8 drivers for the touchpad.  My machine is 15 or 15.6 so I think I should use the 5560 15 "site.  This site has no drivers for Windows 8, when I'll be able to get a driver that allows my touchpad scroll?

The drivers for the Aspire 5560 and 5560G are the same, except for the graphics drivers.

Please do not hesitate to use the Aspire 5560 G drivers for Windows 8.

  • Pavilion a6220n: updated my BIOS after Windows 7 is already installed

    Hello.

I bought an a6220n Pavilion in 2008 because he was very progressive.  In 2010, I updated the video card with an ATI Radeon 4770 and upgraded to 4 GB of RAM.

Recently, I backed up all my stuff and restored the computer to factory settings.  I installed 8 GB of RAM. Then I started Windows 7-64 bits of an installation disc.

So now Windows 7-64 bit is up and running.  I think so.  Internet seems to be very slow.   It recognizes the 8 GB of RAM and video card, video card driver, and other system drivers are up to date.

I want to spend my CPU to a Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 Ghz, but in order to do this, I'll probably have to update my BIOS.   But when I try to update my BIOS Installer tells me this:

While this means?  I need to restore to Windows Vista, upgrade the BIOS and then install on Windows 7?

Or is the BIOS of Windows 7-compatible Windows Vista?  If this is not the case, where can I get the version of Windows 7?

    Jj3down, welcome to the forum.

You can only update the BIOS to the operating system that came with the computer.  In your case, Vista.  This means that you need to perform a system recovery to return the computer to its original configuration.

  • Satellite U400 - 112 (PSU40E) - Safe BIOS upgrade - SOLUTION

    Dear all,

Trying since long upgrade for the bios of my laptop favorite... Toshiba Satellite U400-112 (PSU40E)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) English and BIOS version 4.00(until yesterday).
The problem was that, in windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), the tool flash never started the process of update due to several incompatibilities.
There is a solution (in fact a workaround solution) to be honest and works 100%!

    My solution is:

    (A) download the latest bios upgrade version appropriate for your laptop, save it (tomake it is easier in the root of the C:\ drive) and unpack it in a temporary folder (for example: bios).

    (B) use the Hiren's Boot CD a real support from a USB or CD (download and burn a CD or follow the process of CD copy on a USB key).

    (C) boot the laptop from the CD or USB flash and in Hiren's Boot Menu, select the version of mini Windows XP.

    (D) allow completely Windows XP startup and then run the tool to update the bios flash from the temporary folder. The update procedure make it exactly as it is described in the manual of the bios update. (If you are not experienced)

    (E) it will update the bios, and then he stops himself. Then you can start normally your operating system, remove any CD or USB key mounted on it.

I hope you find it helpful and convenient.

    Best regards

    Ioannis

To be honest I updated the BIOS on my U400 (running Win 7 32 bit), A210 (Vista) and Tecra A10 (Win 7 64 bit) using the victory as the BIOS version and never had any problems in running the tool
Anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community

  • Tecra A8-185 - the update of the BIOS under Windows 7?

    Hi again,

I have a question how update of the BIOS under Windows 7 ultimate x 64. I downloaded the latest version of the BIOS for my laptop (Toshiba Tecra A8-185 PTA83E). After having unpacked there is only the .exe file.

When I try to run this file, he said, that my OS is not supported. When I run it in compatibility mode (with Vista or XP), it starts the upgrade, but gives me an error: "the BIOS upgrade is failure (8). BIOS is not able on this configuration. "What should I do? I really need a new BIOS.

Can I run it at the start of the USB key, or whatever?

    Hi offi55

Why do you need a new BIOS? You may notice some problems with the laptop or why are you trying to update?

However, I think that the update should only be done on the pre-installed Windows version (XP or Vista). I guess that this update n t tested and designed to update Windows 7 so I think that would be the reason why you can t.

So to install Windows from the Toshiba Recovery disk and try to update again. It should work.

  • Satellite P300 - upgrade Windows 7 could not be done.

    Hello

I have a problem to upgrade Windows Vista Edition family of Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit. I followed the upgrade process includes the 3 parts of the Guide to upgrade Windows. Part 1 was successful, but when I was doining part 2 (insert the Microsoft Windows 7 upgrade DVD) I get an error message upgrading to 64-bit could not be done.

    Hello

Do you find more infoarmations why the upgrade couldn't t do?

On the Toshiba site I found a upgrade step-by-step instruction that might be useful:

As you can read that some programs must be removed before the upgrade. Did you do that?

  • Re: Need Satellite 1800-804 - BIOS upgrade

    Hello!

I would like to know where I could find the BIOS upgrade?
    I updated Win Win XP.

    Hi Aki

You can upgrade Windows ME to Windows XP without updating the BIOS!

The update of the BIOS would not affect the installation of Windows XP.

    Perhaps an important fact is not known to you;
The update of the BIOS is always risky and should ONLY be done to fix some bugs.

In your case, it seems that you want to change only the operating system and therefore the update of the BIOS is not really necessary on your Sam 1800.

Anyway, if you looking for XP drivers then you might find it on the page of the European driver Toshiba-> * area of ARCHIVE

  • Can Equium P200 (PSB5E) - I update the BIOS on Windows 7?

    Hello.

My question is: how to upgrade the BIOS under Windows 7? My Bios version is 1.70, I've seen, this version 2.50 is available for download, but only under Vista.

    Can it run Windows 7?

    Hello

    First question;
Why do you update the BIOS?
    Is the reason for this?
If the laptop runs successfully a BIOS update is not necessary!

    Now back to the issue of BIOS;
Some laptops have special need BIOS for Win XP or Vista.
So if you are using XP or Vista, then you must use the BIOS that was designed for one of these windows systems on the European driver Toshiba page you can see a column of OS that provides the info for what BIOS OS is designed.

But in most cases, the BIOS is OS independent, which means that you can use it in any Windows operating system.

Simply said; If the BIOS is available for Vista, then you can only use it with Vista.
If it s independent OS, you can use it with Win 7, Vista or XP

Toshiba said for the upgrade of the traditional Bios use the key"toshisba" to the left of the space bar to the 6100, I tried this nothing happens
The 6100 does not turn on with this key, so the news of Toshiba was inncorrect

And how risky are Bios upgrades running Windows

everyone updated the 6100 to worms 1.9? That's what I want to do
to stop this annoying missing USB

    Jack

    Hello

No, I don't think that it is more risky to have the upgrade of the Bios from windows then the traditional way.
I found this info in the Toshiba document that describes the procedures to update the BIOS:

For the current offers in the range of Toshiba laptops two different BIOS update procedures.

1 Windows base update: BIOS is updated to Windows.
    2. traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy disk or a CD-ROM when starting.

We recommend that you update the BIOS from Windows.
