Open firefox takes me to the last page viewed before that I closed

I just installed Firefox (have used it before without any problem)
The most recent version.
Couple of days but now its OK
When I login it takes me to a particular page, I was a few days ago. Always the same page which includes a few tabs open. None is my home page. As the "restore option to where I was before the accident" which I got in the past when Firefox had to close unexpectedly. I tried to re install, but he remembers that old set of tabs that I was a few days ago.
I erased from history and who does not help either. I have carefully to close all tabs and go on my home page before you end the session,
and next time I want to I return to that same tabs that has been frozen somewhere in the memory of Firefox.
What can I do, short of deleting Firefox and reinstalling from scratch,
Thank you

Hey Lmunro,

You should take a look at the How to set the home page. The first thing I would try is:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Options.
  2. Select the general Panel.
  3. In the Startup box, click on restore by default.

That will reset all of the elements that might have been created as your homepage for one reason or another. This will give you the ability to define a new homepage as well.

In the section that says "when Firefox starts:" do not forget that you have selected "Show my homepage" and you should be set.

Hope this helps!

When I turn on my computer it tells me that I need to activate windows. I click on 'YES' it takes me to the activation page and says that Windows is already activated. All I can do is, click 'OK' and he takes me into a log on screen with my name on it and goes through the same process, as described at the beginning of this statement. I'm in a loop. • For the last few weeks, after that I closed 19.0 FF, I can't open it. I resorted to having to re - install FF each time so that it can open. What should do?

For the last few weeks, whenever I close Firefox 18 (and more recently 19.0), I can't reopen the browser again. The application runs as if it is going to open, then stops and sits there. I had to resort to the re - install the browser every time now, very irritating. He remembers my tabs as they had been, that I want to. I used to open up to 40-50 tabs, but now made an effort to keep them below 20, thinking that it would help work more optimally. I'm tired of re - install the browser all the time. What should I do? Thank you

When this happens, check the Windows Task Manager to see if there is a hidden window or the firefox.exe process is at a standstill?

To open the Windows Task Manager, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc

On the Applications tab, look for any window with the icon of Firefox. See something wrong here? In another thread, users have reported finding what seems to be a rogue process. If you find something, try to select and killing using end task.

Under the processes tab, look for firefox.exe. According to the displayed columns, you can often see that the program is reading, writing, communicate or simply sitting there, doing nothing. If you have allowed time to stop Firefox and it crashes, you can select firefox.exe and click on end process.

After that, Firefox expected to start normally.

Please see this article for troubleshooting suggestions for when Firefox crashes out. https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Firefox-hangs-or-not-responding#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it

  • When I close Firefox and then open it again, the last page I had opened remains open when my new page loading. Didn't help not clear my history and cookies.

When I close Firefox, windows that were open when I closed Firefox are still open, when I click on a link to open a new window. I cleared my history and cookies and even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but that did not work. I had this problem since upgrading to version 29. This isn't the only problem I have had with version 29. Anyone else had problems with version 29?

  • If I have a small Firefox page I can not open a NEW page. He let me just open a new tab on the reduced page

If I have a small Firefox page I can not open a NEW page. He let me just open a new tab on the reduced page. I used to be able to open a new page in browser icon on my desktop, but for these last days, it won't let me. It is a desktop computer, running Windows 7. Everything is up-to-date.

Hi Deb, it's hard for me to test it personally because I've pinned the shortcut of Firefox to the taskbar, which changes its behavior, and when I remove it, I don't fit my desktop icon. (?!)

Anyway, as a temporary workaround solution while we sort out this point, you can use the 'Skip' list: right click on the Firefox icon in the task bar and choose 'Open a new fenΩtre' that should certainly generate a separate window and not only a new tab in the existing window. Normally works?

Firefox has a hidden setting that you might try to change to see if it makes a difference. Normally, when you open a link in another program, it opens in a new tab in the last window of Firefox, that you used. Your what's doing? I propose changing the setting so that the link must open in a new window to see if it has an impact on this problem.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste link.o and make a pause so that the list is filtered.

    (3) double-click the preference browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external and set its value to 2 and click OK.

The possible values for this preference are as follows:

-1 = follow your settings in the Options for new tabs vs new windows (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replaces the current page

There are a few other similar named preferences, so be sure to change one that has 'external' in the name.

    Any difference?

  • Firefox displays windows since the last time, how to open clear last tab?

I have Firefox set to restore my previous session when starting.
Last opened tab has an 'x' to close. When you press ctrl + w, it will close the window so that whenever I open firefox it will restore the previous tab.

Is there a way to close the last tab, then exit when you press ctrl + w? This so that I can have a new session by clearing the last of them at the exit.

  • When I open my browser, it doesn't fit to the homepage, but the last page I was on in my previous internet session. Whats going here?

OK, so I opened my Firefox browser, but when he opens up he won't go to the home page. He goes to the last page, I realized in my last internet session. My home page is http://www.usautoparts.NET/BMW/Hydrogen/Schwarzenegger.htm but let says I'm on www.facebook.com and then I close the window. If I reopen firefox it will go to the facebook page and not the home page. This happens all the time and sometimes even after that I restarted the computer. He always goes to the last page I visited. As this page for example where I posted a question. Once I close firefox, and then open it again, it will come on this page and not the home page. If it's supposed to happen? He began that happened a few weeks back. I reinstalled it and it still happens. Thank you.

    Hi eaglerabbit,

It is a pretty easy fix. Just go to Tools > Options > general and change the preference that Firefox should make at startup. You have probably set to load tabs and pages of your previous session.

If this does not work, you should look at article Knowledge Base How to repair preferences that will not save.

    Hope this helps!

  • How can I get Safari to open in my homepage instead of the last page, I looked?

Hi everyone, how can I get Safari to open in my home page or a page chosen instead of the last page I was looking at all the time? I keep trying to change this in Safari preferences, but I'm obviously something wrong? It doesn't matter what changes I make in the Safari preferences no matter what I do everytime I open Safari it opens just the last page I was looking at all the time?

    See you soon.

Normally, you just go to Safari - attendance - general and set up your homepage.

However, if she does not work for you, try the following steps.

Go to the Safari menu (at the top right of your screen next to the Apple icon), choose 'Quit Safari'

Press the "Shift" key and while holding this button on your unique keyboard, click the icon of Safari on your Dock.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - data to remove any Web site.

Open the menu to go with the Option (Alt) key - library - key locate Safari folder and place it on your desktop. Restart your Mac, open Safari and delete the file from your desktop.

  • Open to the last page displayed in AR DC

Recently, I downloaded Acrobat Reader DC on my computer, but I used to close a PDF in AR X and be able to reopen in the last page I look at one.

Unfortunately, this is not the case here. I tried to go in 'Préférences' and under 'Documents', audited "restoring last settings when reopening documents" and nothing has changed altogether.

    Can I reinstall?

    Thank you

    Hi shizuko193,

Yes restore display settings last... options should work. Just try to reinstall DC.

DC using uninstall cleanup tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat tool - Adobe Labs

  • The default home page is not loaded at startup. The last page visited is in place. Default V32.0.3 in the options is set correctly.

    Tools-> Options-> general-> Firefox starts-> show my homepage--> homepage--> http://www.bing.com

It comes down to the last page visited.

You to include information about your system, it shows that you have a user.js file. This is a file of optional parameters with Firefox checks when it starts and is used to override the settings from your previous session. Sometimes, the command to restore the previous session is in this file. You can it track down and remove it by following the steps described in this article: How to fix preferences that will not save.

  • 26 of Firefox does not load the home page. Instead, it loads the previous session (and that includes all tabs). It does not matter how Firefox is closed.

26 of Firefox does not load the home page. Instead, it load the previous session, regardless of what has been entered in 'Options '. The browser runs in Win 7.0 64 bit; Norton Internet Suite 21 provides security features. There are some solutions 'cloud', also running as Google Drive, box, Skydrive and Cubby. The browser behaves in the same way in all my machines (installation and the OS is similar to that described above) and no amount of reset 'Options' seems to affect it. Nor is it affected by the way that Firefox is closed. This is obviously a bug that should be fixed.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
