Open your video files (MP4) with an external application in Ubuntu

I have exactly the same problem as described here

  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/959889

and here

  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/959839

Exactly what the title of the question says. The problem is that I'm using Ubuntu/Linux and solutions identified in the above links do not seem to apply (there is no media - media.windows - foundation.enabled in topic: config since, as its name suggests, it is an option of Windows). I noticed here

  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20061175/mp4-not-supported-in-firefox

This Jack native support for Firefox for MP4 has been disabled until the 26 under Linux/Ubuntu version. Since the version when available here

  https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

It looks like I've been screwed up by an update in a couple of days - which corresponds to my experience, that until a few days ago, everything was perfectly fine (I use VLC to open the .m4v files).

Anyone know some magic button to return? Can I reinstall Firefox 25, if I did? I played randomly with some options in: config (with names suggesting possibly some appropriate behaviors), but nothing good happened...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Under Linux, you can watch the media.gstreamer.enabled preference.
You must have the appropriate GStreamer plugins installed.

Conversion to the. Before importing WMV format

There are to many converters available on the net...
some for free, some retailers, some better than others...
the following freeware is an example that

    (Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8)
(* Choose custom installation and carefully)
read * all * the installation screens... There may be some
items you want to unmark *)

If a green install button appears when you launch
Freemake... you can ignore it and it should go away
    When you import files.

To download the full version instead of use the
    Web Installer, see the following:

    Freemake Apps - off-line version
    http://www.Freemake.com/offline/offline_all/
(If you want to install freeware Freemake
on your PC without Internet connection,.
    Download these files)

When you have installed Freemake... Open Freemake
and drag and drop your video files on the main screen.

Or... Click left on the video button and navigate to the
your video files are saved in the folder.

Select (highlight) the files you want to import into
Freemake and left, click on the button 'open '.

When video files are imported into Freemake,
On the left, click the WMV icon at the bottom of the screen.

The 'WMV output settings' screen opens.

Choose a folder ' save in ', so you can find the
    converted files.

On the left, click the "Convert" button and wait for the files
    to convert.

I watched the tutorial and tried all three ways, he suggests opening a video file, with the following error message:

    Adobe Photoshop CC 2015

I tried searching for similar issues and found that my video is perhaps not the right format.

So, I converted the video file. MP4 to.: AVI

Help with this error message would be greatly appreciated, why Adobe doesn't provide answers for error messages that they have code in the program is a complete mystery to me.

Can you put the video file? What can play you with? What codec was used to encode the video. It could be that Photoshop doesn't have a video codec decode you.

    Hello

I tried the previous suggestions and ran the reset... no change...

    · What is the file format? 3GPP
    · The question is limited to this video file? Yes, all the videos copied from my cell and downloaded on PC, the problem occurs. Note all the copied images have no problems.
    · Did you do changes on the computer before the show? None.

Any further suggestions? I fear, if I should try a codec download from the internet and that you and the measures to be taken.

I would recommend that you download and install K-Lite Codec pack from here.

    Download K-Lite Codec Pack

Get either the Standard or complete package to halfway to the bottom of the page. There is a package tailor-made for 64-bit if your Windows 7 is that the flavor. The 64-bit package is not always necessary, as most of the programs are still 32-bit.

Hmmm...  It's surprising.  I don't know about you, but I thought that YouTube reformatted downloaded video to save space and used H.264, which is the same CODEC that use of most DSLR cameras.  They also use the MP4 format, and I expect Photoshop to open those no problem at all.  Can you give us a link to the video?

I use Win7 Media Center video to view my videos on my HTPC connected to my TV.  But how do I enter information Synopsis in my files so that this info appears during playback of videos from video library Media Center?  For most of the video files, the files are .mp4 and .avi.

Is there a direct way to do it without using third-party tools, or sort each file into separate etc folders. The files are located in different places on my hard drive and sorted according to my convenience.  Thank you.

    Hi a Win7 user,.

In Windows Media Center theoptions are limited to add metadata synopsis in home videos, however, there are third-party applications available to do the job. You can search your favorite search engine and download third-party software to add metadata synopsis in videos.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.
