opening home page
Somewhere, something has changed. Now when I open Firefox it goes immediately to this page: http://www.nationzoom.com/?type=sc & ts = 1385788029 & from = tugs & uid = ST1000LM024XHN-M101MBB_S2WZJ90CB50756B50756
I changed my home page to what it was before, (MSN.com) but not by default is what I said as my "home page" to open.
I can't get the link above to stop the opening in case of default. Why?

Why open a new page in the tab as well as my home page?
When I go online, I expect to have only my open home page, instead, I have two tabs, my home page tab and the tab and the new tab is the page that actually opens. This just started yesterday, why?
Have you checked the home page setting to ensure that it is always correct?

Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol (pipe).
You can check the target line in the shortcut to the Firefox desktop (right click: properties) to make sure that nothing is added after the path to the Firefox program.
You can check for problems with preferences.

You're better off use the Chromedit Plus had extension to play with 3 user folders, such as Firefox 4 and later versions do not even have the required folder \chrome\ and the example - files of this version of Firefox. The user must create this folder itself, as well as files, too - Chromedit Plus takes care of this for you and gives you an interface in the window of Firefox to edit these files, so that a reset button in order to test your changes more conveniently-close Firefox, change the user to a remote folder file and save it, then open Firefox to check change the work - and when it is not the process all over again.

The best way to get rid of these "extracts" should change you your homepage back to what Firefox used before Firefox 4.0.

I prefer the yahoo homepage..... so I put my yahoo homepage. now, whenever I open a page, I get a pop up of firefox, telling me that they are not my home page and I need to check the action I want... can we stop this very annoying pop up or do I have to remove firefox itself. ???
What looks like the popup? I think that Yahoo may have a bar in the page content area that encourages to make your Yahoo homepage. However, if it appears outside of the page, and especially if it displays when you visit other sites, it could be caused by an add-on unwanted. Here's an example another user recently published along these lines:
Here's my method of tracking down and cleaning of the bad modules, the air pirates and injectors ad. I know it seems long, but it's not so bad.
(1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. Beware of everything that you don't recognize / remember, since malware often uses sounding names important or innocent to discourage you remove. Out as much garbage as possible here.
(2) open Firefox page modules using either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
- in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
firefox.exe "about:addons"
In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. Do not forget that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox, and you can learn more about them by checking their reviews on the site of the Add - ons.
Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
(3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.
Success?

When I click on a link in an email, it opens in a window behind my Home Page. I find it annoying to have to click view, and then click the window for the desired link. In Firefox preferences that I ticked "open new windows in a new tab instead", but the problem persists.
Hello
Sorry to hear what happens if you run firefox in safe mode?
"If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Everytime I open Firefox I get a message: "an attempt to change your home page has been blocked" and firefox crashes.
I unintalled (on my MAC) and reinstalled twice. Makes no difference. Any suggestions?Could you try starting Firefox in Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.
Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
- Help menu > restart with disabled modules
and OK reboot.
Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).
Any improvement?
While you are in Mode without failure, you could copy a list of your extensions and paste them into an answer? The best place for this is the support information page - either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
- (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
- type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter
Scroll down to the Extensions section, and then select from there until the end of the following table with the mouse and copy. Then paste into a response. It may seem a bit messy but don't worry, we're used to it.

does not open to the home page
Recently when I opened my firefox browser, whenever it does not open the home page. Instead, it opens to the last page I was on until I closed out of the browser. I tried to reinstall firefox, and that has not changed anything. I use windows 7.
You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

In previous versions of firefox, I could use about: config to make the new tab opened as my home page. the latest version of firefox doesn't seem to allow this. I find it very frustrating that all the search engines seem to want to dictate what I see when I Browse. I wish to install the new version of firefox
In Firefox pref browser.newtab.url 41 disappeared. This pref has been hijacked by malware so frequently while Mozilla has decided to remove this pref to eliminate this kind of diversion.
You will need an extension like this one to restore.
https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-override/Or to have your home page as the new tab page, try this extension.
https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/If you're using Classic theme restaurant, go to the options of CTR > general UI (2) and set your preference for the new tab URL there.
For Super Start , you can use the topic: superstart page.

Can I stop a new tab to open on my home page when I load Firefox to my office?
When I load Mozilla Firefox my homepage loads OK but a new tab loads also with ' search or enter addresses in the space of the url where an address must be typed. When I click on the information on the general tab Page address for the new tab is chrome://ntsd-a/content/newtab/newtab.html. I don't want the new tab to load automatically. How can I stop this action?
Enter about: preferences in your search bar and check to see what your home page. back to the just in case where. Restart firefox to check if the tab opens.
Try firefox shift-click to launch. see if this tab always opens. If not, this means that there are a few add-on do this. Enter about: addons and see what addon could do that.
If she does not always just clear the cache or refresh firefox it should be resolved. -
Two tabs always open. default page 1 with my home page and the other with the FF. It is so irritating that I rarely use the Firefox browser even if its faster than IE.
Finally, I deleted all traces of Firefox on my computer, including all the stuff that uninstall has not been deleted. Then I reinstalled from scratch. That seems to work and I get now only a single tab when I open the program.

Note it is generally a last resort solution.
I suggest to all those who wish to follow this solution guarantees that they back up the Firefox profile first. See also: -
When I click the icon "more" to open a new tab appears again my homepage. It displays a page of Web sites recently or frequently used in a format of screenshot showing the home page of the Web site that I could then click on and this website would be the load. Recently, Yahoo had an overlay on its splash screen that asked if I wanted it to be my default search engine. Without thinking, I clicked it and that seemed to change the way my home pages loaded on startup and how clicking on a tab is no longer produced the results I'm looking for as described above. I have since fixed the problem of the homepage so that it now loads properly when Firefox starts.
Help, please. I would just go back to what I had when I clicked open a new tab. If anyone needs more information or clarification I will provide willingly. Thank you very much. One of your modules corresponds to this number, for example, the version 3.18, or sounds associated with "hp" in some way? You can copy and paste a list of your extensions in a response by selecting the Extensions from the list on the next page with the mouse, then using Ctrl + c or right click > copy. Either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
- (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
- type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter
When you paste, it's a little messy, but we are used to it.

Home page of Firefox loads when opening new tabs
Greetings!
When I open a new tab (add) in Firefox, the new tab automatically load my start (home) page. He is an annoying "feature" when I open the page to insert an address because the address of the start page is present, resulting in the need to remove it from the address bar. This was not the case in previous versions of Firefox. Is there a setting to fix this? In other words, I'd like to open a 'blank' page when opening a tab, but I don't want a blank page appears at startup.
Thank you.
California.Cyclist
These are actually separate settings internally, unless you use an add-on to replace.
Here's how you can change your new tab page:
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:
- (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
- Blank tab = > subject: empty
- Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
- Any other page = > full URL of the page
Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?
If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:
If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel.
Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right and turn off (or remove) something unknown.
If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is return to the unwanted page: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.
A little luck?

Until yesterday, whenever I started Firefox, opened it to the home page I selected. During the day yesterday, has changed: now, when I open Firefox, it loads everything that was the last page, it was during the previous session. I checked the settings and the right address for my homepage still appears there. How can I get this "reset" so that whenever I open the app it loads the home page that I have chosen? Thanks for your help...

new tab opens my home page, but I want to open the more visited sites
new tab opens my home page, but I want to open the most visited sites. Ad-aware messed up the settings.
You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the topic: config page and set this pref to your preferred the new tab page.
- the new default tab with the tiles page is on: newtab
- the default homepage is Subject: Home
- to a blank page, you can use Subject: vacuum
The pref browser.newtabpage.enabled must be set to true to use the page defined through browser.newtab.url like the new tab page.
See this article on the page tab (topic: newtab):
You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.
