Hard drive not detected by the Bios and the device under Vista Home Premiun Manager

    Hi trinitario,.

Because the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS also, it may be due to a hard drive configuration that should be changed or a rider. If you need to get in touch with a Local tech-store for assistance.

Note: change in the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Hard drive not detected once, but now?

    Hello

I am Zak, a bit of techno when it comes to playing with the software, or re-Assembly of computers and whatnot. Unfortunately, I have no idea about other things.

Some quick history on my laptop: the fan was made terrible noises in recent weeks. Initially, I thought it was little dust, so I got a few duster. A lot of dust came out, so that can only be good, but the noise came back after a few days. After some research, I thought that the other logical explanation was probably the hard drive goes bad. I hesitate to send back to HP because I use it for all my college work and it would really put me back weeks to have it not.

So, a few days ago I booted my computer laptop at a "drive not detected" - or very similar - message. There were a few options for f1 - f4, they were information system and 3 different tests (I think). I ran the tests, all of them came back fine, noting that there are no operating system installed, or a hard drive to boot from. I rebooted because I didn't quite start and wanted to see if there were other options. It turns out that he has started well. I restarted once more and again once it did it very well.

Then, I coded around, back up all my data, gather warranty information, installation of the HP Support Assistant, etc. I ran all the tests help Wizard and there is no problems found. Since I just got the laptop hibernation when I stop using it, and I have not met any unusual problems. All this sounds great, but my warranty expires December 7 this year. It is safe for me to assume that the "drive not detected" error was just one missed? I read a lot of discussions and FAQS on him and it's not something that happens once and goes. However, I never had to use a warranty so not sure quite how the process works, and as I said, he sent everywhere would put me in my work.

In order to be a full post, I have a HP G62 - 367DX laptop, running on Windows 7 64-bit OS, and as far as I know there no change was made between error and my prior boot. If there is any other information I can give you, let me know.

See you soon, thank you for all help and good day

The wizard tests are not as comprehensive or reliable as the drive hard test in the BIOS... tap F10 as you power up, go and find the hard drive test. Run the long form test and see what it says. It is not uncommon that the hard drive start as intermittent and get progressively more frequent problems. If your drive passes the test of long form, only enough safely, you can assume that it was a unique gremlin, but it's still a really good idea to back up. I like the idea of online backup services and I will quote Carbonite only because it is well known and not as an endorsement. There are several more and year external drive is a good idea.

You can't put off forever; restarting You'll have to deal with the issue at some point.

  • Equium L350D - optical drive not booting or display in the BIOS

I brought an Equium L350D around last August. It came with Windows Vista, which I wasn't completely satisfied, but it had become the standard at this time.
After several problems with Vista and preferring just generally XP, I decided it was time to downshift.

So I jumped in my drive XP, Set BIOS to boot from the CD, reboot. Vista.
So I jumped to the BIOS, and he says he is not an optical drive detected. But when I boot in Vista and pop a disc in the drive, it works fine.
I also tried Ubuntu Live CD, but it just started to new Vista.

Anyone know what I can do to work around this problem?

If you try to install Win XP without SATA drivers then the SATA in the BIOS mode must be on compatible.

By the way; If you can still boot the Vista operating system on the HARD drive, then check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS!

Device Manager displays a missing optical drive. Please notify.

  • Hard drive not detected 50% of the time to start up

I have a model of Macbook Pro mid 2012 with the following changes:

    • Upgrade to 16 GB Ram
    • DVD player, replaced by Bay and old (existing) 500 GB hard drive for storage
    • Hard drive replaced with 250 GB SSD (Samsung EVO 850)
    • Windows via Bootcamp 10
    • Mac OS X Yosemite
    • Refind installed at startup

Recently, my existing SSD drive gave me a lot of questions - so I'm a new and SuperDuper'ed the existing on it. Formatted the Windows partition and reinstalled Windows 10.

I have 50 GB on the Mac drive and 200 concerts on Windows.

The issue that I am facing is that on every other bootup, the Mac does not detect the hard drive.

If I OPTION-press and hold the button, I see only the 500 Gig data drive (which is not bootable).

Then, I need to restart and COMMAND + R (or D) to enter the internet recovery mode, wait until the choice of network is displayed.

Then when I reboot, I am presented with the original hard drive and multiple start options (Mac / Windows) on Refind.

I don't think it's a matter of refind, as happens even with uninstalled Refind.

This does not happen when I plug my old (SSD by default).

What could go wrong on the new hard drive and I can barely turn the question?

    Thank you.

What are the contents of the disc in hand and Optibay Bay?

  • NB100 - 11G - HARD drive not detected during installation of Windows XP

I have a Toshiba NB100 - 11G with Win XP Home and a 160 GB HD RAM upgraded 1 024 to 2 GB. Recently, I tried to install Win Pro SP3. However, it did not work and the message was that the hard drive was not recognized. I have no problem restoring with the provided Toshiba Recovery CD (which has Win XP Home).

Does anyone have an idea why I couldn't install Win XP Pro? Could it be related to my RAM upgrade? (The only thing I changed.)

Thanks for a response. Sincerely, Allan.

    Hello

The problem is that you integrate the driver SATA Windows XP can detect the internal HARD drive. Otherwise, you get a blue screen or the HARD drive is not detected.

With the help of nLite (freeware tool), you can create a new drive to install XP with SATA driver package. This is described here:

  • External SSD hard drive not detected by Airport Extreme/Time Capsule

Hello everyone, I have the following problem:

    Framework

-J' bought a 1 TB Samsung SSD 840 EVO internal media.

-He is locked in a case of badges and used as an external hard drive

-J' have an Airport Extreme (5th generation)

    -J' have a Time Capsule (4th Gen)

-My MBP detects the SSD external hard drive when it is connected to the USB port and works fine

    Problem

-I connect the external SSD hard drive to the USB port on both TCapsule and AExtreme, but the HD is not detected directly (USD and with powered hub of USD)

-HD was formatted as OS x journaled Extended

-J' tried smb and cifs via 'connect to server', but does not work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Juan

Unfortuantely, Apple did not update the firmware on the USB key (it is still 2.0) port on their routers for a number of years.  As a result, new USB 3.0 drives may or may not work with airports.

Yes, we know that USB 3.0 is supposed to be backward compatible with USB 2.0 in theory, but theory does not always work in practice.

If your drive is formatted as Mac OS extended (journaled)... also called HFS +... .and you have tried the drive with and without a USB hub powered and the reader will not be displayed with you check using the AirPort Utility disks tab... then you have one of a number of readers who do not work with routers from the airport.

I just checked a new LaCie USB 3.0 drive I have here. It works perfectly with a Mac, but it appears not at all when I connect it to the USB port or a powered new AirPort Extreme or new Time Capsule directly, or by using a USB hub.

  • HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF: external hard drive not detected in the BIOS. Only USB Flash drives are detected.

    Hi all

I received recently 2 new HP desktop computers.

    HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF

    HP Elitedesk 800 G2 TWR

The goal is to test our real W7 x 64 image on these machines and to inject the missing drivers in the image.

MDT 2010 to create a deployment on a USB hard disk drive.

This disc of deployment is already used on 16 different models of HP in the company (Elitebook, zBook, EliteDesk) to install our image so I know it works.

Unfortunately, the two HP Elitedesk 800 G2, I can't start the boot disk but I cannot to USB for a USB key.

The USB drive is not detected and not proposed in the BIOS Menu of STARTUP.

Only the internal HD, external USB Flash Disk, DVD and network devices are detected.

Here's what I already checked or tried:

    • Latest Version of the BIOS installed (2.05)
    • UEFI Boot has been disabled. (not supported by our record of deployment)
    • USB ports are enabled (front and rear).
    • All types of USB devices are allowed in the BIOS
    • The start command has been changed to start with USB devices.
    • Legacy support is active and Secure Boot disabled
    • Delete the keys to secure boot
    • Reset secure by default startup keys
    • This morning, I created a new disk deployment on a USB Flash drive and it works!

So, it seems that only Flash USB drives are detected.

I know it is possible to return the flag removalble on a USB device to cheat the system and make it appear as a disk fixed, but I want a simple solution.

Does anyone know a fix or a workaround for this problem?

    Thanks in advance!

For those interested in the answer, here's the final results.

It turns out that the hard 500 GB external drive can be detected if it is fomatted in FAT32.

It's strange because my 16 GB USB Flash drive formatted in NTFS works very well.

In any case, I'll create a FAT32 Partition to the Boot MDT files and put my picture (because the file is too big for FAT32 partition) on the secondary partition (formatted as NTFS).

Thanks to the technical pre-sales team of HP who helped me with this!

  • HARD drive not detected in the BIOS on Satellite A215

    Hi all

I could use to solve this problem: bought this laptop computer without a disk of the auction. Installed again 2.5 inches HDD SATA 250 GB, which was not detected in BIOS and also not detected when using a MS Vista installation disc. When trying to install Vista, get a message no drive seen HARD and demand for pilots.
I flashed the BIOS with version (2.0) of lates without problem through the CD drive, but still no detection of HARD drive.

The drive partitioned and formatted NTFS without problem by using another computer and USB SATA adapter using the command line method. Just for additional verification, I went on the new HARD drive to an extra 2.5 "SATA HDD used for backups, but that the HARD drive has also not been detected.

It is not a "compatibility" option in CMOS to select SATA or Auto, etc..
There is not a second HDD, so this isn't a question of slave/primary. There are no jumpers on the new HARD drive.
Set the CMOS settings 'by default' does not solve the problem.

The SATA connectors on the HARD drive and laptop computer are in perfect condition.
Also, the drive is not detected on the laptop connected via USB to SATA Adapter, but of course there is no OS installed to support this connection.

In any case, I just can't come up with any more ideas to try.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

    Best,
    Glenn

    Hello

The BIOS should recognize the HARD disk even if the SATA mode would be compatible or AHCI. This should not affect the recognition of the HARD drive.

You said that you have tested the condition of the HARD drive and it's ok, so I guess that it s no disc HARD question.
Hmm, you could try to format the HARD drive once more and then connect the portable computer HARD drive.

Another idea: Remove/Disconnect the CD/DVD drive and then connect the HARD drive to the SATA connector.
If it does not, then I recommend to test another HARD drive, otherwise if the new HARD drive would not work, then a SATA controller may be defective.

  • Satellite L40 - no HARD drive not detected in the BIOS

    Hello

I need some advice here. I have a Toshiba Satellite a colleague here, type L40 - 14N. She wanted to run the Toshiba Recovery CD procedure to get back original configuration... system was going way too slow and all that, no other problems. Anyway, she's not very experienced and one way or another the recovery failed.

Problem is that the system does not detect a HARD drive now more for some reason any. Not in the BIOS, not during the procedure of Toshiba Recovery CD if I start it now. I also tried a Vista installer retail and loaded drivers SATA raid as mentioned on this forum. Without success, no HARD drive detected.

It's weird, because nothing essentially. Any suggestions how I could solve this problem and get the HARD drive online?

If the HARD drive is not detected, the installation of recovery will not work and also a Microsoft installation disc.
The HARD drive should be detected in the BIOS, otherwise that an installation is not possible.

However, it seems that the HARD drive is defective because the BIOS peut t detect it.
If your laptop is in warranty got a local ASP or you change the HARD drive by yourself.

    Hello

I don't know if this external HARD drive needs an additional but installation CD everything must be shipped with the HARD m disk box!
To my knowledge this HARD drive needs an external power supply. The cable must be delivered also with this HARD drive.

So take your manual HDD and check shipped all parts! If something is missing you dealer of HARD drive!
