optimization of airport extreme for modem arris tg1672

In reality, my internet speed seems normal. But the orange flashing on my airport extreme is bugging me. Cable company says they do not affect routers and I need to deal with the settings utility airport myself. I don't want to reset all over again, if I am not, but if anyone knows how to "optimize" the airport extreme, I would have powerful.

The yellow light flashes as the AirPort Extreme has a message for you.

To find out what it might be... Open the AirPort Utility on your Mac... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Click on the image of the AirPort Extreme, and a small window appears with information about the product

If you see an Update button, click on it, if you want to update the firmware on the AirPort Extreme to the latest version.

Otherwise, find the parameter Status , then click on the little orange dot here and another window will open with more information on the 'question' as well as a suggestion to fix things.

  • Airport extreme for modem cable via an ethernet switch?

I can connect the airport extreme to the modem cable via an ethernet switch, or must the extreme connect directly to the modem?

The answer to your question depends on what type of "modem" cable you may have.

If you have a simple modem, as in the example below with a single port Ethernet, your network should look like this:

Internet > Modem > AirPort Extreme > Switch and other devices.

If you have a modem/router, which is actually a modem and a router separate which are combined in a single package, looking for something like the example below, your network may look like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > switch > AirPort Extreme and other devices

or... it might look like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > AirPort Extreme > switch and other devices

If you do not know what kind of modem you have, post back with the number of brand and model of the device that you call your "modem", and we will do some checking.

  • Thinking of adding Airport Extreme for Google Fiber

Hello world. Wanted to start a new question related to Google fiber... slightly different from the issue of Back2Mac earlier.

I just Google fiber. House is wired throughout with CAT6. Wired connection works fine. Wireless is great, sometimes, but do not receive the beach or the consistency we want.

Can I add an Airport Extreme, hard connected to the Google fiber network box (which is a router, "PNG" for short) and everything work well and be safe?

There is a lot of information out there, but most are very technical and I think talking to try to take the PNG of the equation all together. I don't need or want to do. Looking to replace PNG with a wireless Airport Extreme wireless. I think that all that I have to connect the Airport Extreme to PNG by wire, set the Airport Extreme in Bridge mode and "create a wireless network" and disable wireless of PNG.

I have not bought the Airport Extreme and wouldn't bother, if it will be technically above my head. I've seen many references to static port forwarding, DMZ, IP, etc.. Are there others that should be configured to secure my installation? In addition, the activity of the network of wired and wireless devices will share work together (for example, iPhone wireless to AppleTV wired antenna)?

Thank you and appreciate any help anyone has for a novice with little network experience!

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the ports on the fibre-optic LAN <>router - port WAN "O" on the AirPort Extreme.

Turn AirPort Extreme for a minute or two.

Click the WiFi menu at the top of the screen on your Mac and are looking for a list of new AirPort base station.

Click on AirPort Extreme just below this list.

Who will get the facility operational Apple "Wizard". It will take a few seconds to analyze the network, and then display a screen similar to the example below, except that you will see a picture of the AirPort Extreme.

Name of the network... Type a short and simple name that you want to call the wireless network

Base station... Enter a device name short and simple that you want to use for AirPort Extreme

Password... Type a password that will be used for the wireless network and a base station

Check... Type the same password to confirm

    Click next

The "Wizard" will configure everything for you automatically. ... then you don't have to worry about things like the 'bridge', 'security' mode or other parameters.

When you see the message Setup is complete, click done, and you're done.

  • Currently have what benefits will provide an Airport Extreme wifi modem service the Fios last?

I have FIOS at home and bought their last fastest modem.

I have some "weak points" around the House for the wifi connection.

If I add the Airport extreme it can solve this?

If I add the Airport extreme it can solve this?

Yes, if you are looking for an AirPort Extreme in the middle of an area that needs more wireless coverage. The downside of this is that the AirPort Extreme needs to connect to FIOS modem/router with wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

Unfortunately, if you have two different general areas where you need more wireless coverage, then you will need two extremes of the airport, one per domain. Two airports must connect to FIOS modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

You can do better to find an "extension" or "repeater" that would be compatible with the modem/FIOS router and connect using wireless, rather than wired, which would require an Apple AirPort base station.

Check to see if they produced with the support of FIOS available to do this, or could recommend a compatible product for you.

  • Installation of Airport Extreme for Motorola gateway?

I was hoping someone may be able to help me go through the steps required to configure my Airport Express base station (new) new gateway of Motorola Surfboard SBG 6580 (Cox is my ISP). My main machines are a mid 2010 21.5 "iMac under OSX 10.8.5 and a mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro running OSX10.10.5

The research I did, I know that I will need to disable the features wireless on the bridge and run an ethernet cable from one of the WAN ports to the Airport express. I wonder if it's just a matter of going in my router settings and turn off the wireless, so I can just use it as a modem, or is there something else I need to turn off while I'm in these settings?

I've got also a Netgear wifi extender used in my current set up, but I hope I won't need more once I created the Airport extreme, but if I need, it would be compatible with the Airport extreme?

I'll always be able to use other ports WAN ethernet on the motorola, once the most extreme airport is set up? I ask because I currently use all 4 ports on the motorola, and the Airport extreme has only 3.

Finally, I would like to use the same name as my current wireless network, there will be no problem with that, and I'll be able to hide my network name, like I currently do? I think it's an option "do not broadcast" currently so it doesn't show up for people to scan for wireless networks

Devices that use my wifi are for most Apple products with the exception of a HTC smartphone, a stick of fire from Amazon and a smart TV.

Thanks in advance for any help/tips

    Jeff

Unless you really need to disable the gateway wireless, you may configure your network easier by defining just two to a network roaming type .

However, before thinking about this, it would be useful if we understood what your networking goals are for these devices. Also, can you please give the model numbers exactly for each of your AirPort base station you want to use in your network.

  • Airport Extreme and Broadband Modem/Router

I have my Airport Extreme (5th generation) plugged into a Broadband Modem/Router combo. I would like to have both able to use their wireless capabilities. The Airport Extreme has been previously connected to a Modem broadband all my IP addresses came by Airport Extreme (192.168.2. *). With the New Modem/Router combo broadband, it uses 10.0.0 * so I would be able to use Airport Extreme to add the 192.168.2. * While having the 10.0.0. * the Broadband Modem/Router combo.

Is this possible and, if so, how do I configure Airport Extreme to do?

Normally, you don't want two devices on the same network as the two try to act as routers to the same network. Which will produce conflicts of IP addresses... which can possibly be addressed... and a Double NAT problem, which cannot.

The Double NAT error can cause a number of unpredictable issues... things like the problems of communication between the devices on the network, slow navigation... or, not navigation in the case of certain websites, Internet access slower, to name a few.

Yes, some users may get away with a Double NAT on a single home network, but unnecessarily complicating things over a network is normally something you want to avoid.

We do not recommend it, but if you really want AirPort Extreme for use range 192.168.2.x however, you can easily make this change using AirPort Utility. If you are not sure how to do this and need help, then we will need to know which version of AirPort utility you are using.

To find, open AirPort Utility, and then click the menu of AirPort Utility in the far left of the screen corner. Click on about AirPort Utility to see what version you have and post back with that info.

  • Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

I got a modem Comcast/Xfinity upgrade. Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

Whenever you change the modem or modem/router on a network, AirPort Extreme will be reset to the default settings and then set it up again to work properly with the new modem. For this he would be...

Turn on AirPort Extreme for a few minutes... If it is not already turned on

Hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme for 7-8 seconds, then release it.

Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart to a slow, flashing amber light status

Make sure that an Ethernet cable connects to one of the four LAN <-->Ethernet ports on the modem/router on port WAN "O" on AirPort Extreme

To start the Setup program, click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen on your Mac and are looking for a list of the new AirPort base station

Just below that, click directly on the AirPort Extreme and then follow the prompts for configuration "Wizard".

When you configure AirPort Extreme once again, you can use the same wireless network name and the same password that you used with AirPort Extreme with the 'old' modem, if you wish, or use a new wireless network name and password

  • How to configure DynDNS for camera IP with Airport Extreme?

Hello... I recently bought an airport extreme 6th gen.

I have an IP camera installed on my cabin, which I would like to access remotely for security reasons.

My internet provider does not have a fixed IP address, so I need to be able to access my camera, even if my IP address changes.

I understand that I must install a Dyn DNS, but I can't seem to set it up on my airport extreme.

Is it possible to do?  If not, is there any IP camera on the market that is completely compatible with Airport Extreme for remote access?

DynDNS don't think you can do this with an Airport Extreme

    https://help.dyn.com/airport-and-time-capsule-with-dynamic-DNS/>

If you have another computer in the cabin, you can then run a DynDNS update utility on this computer.

If not, perhaps you should consider a different router for the cabin.  You could put the Airport Extreme in Bridge mode and still use it.

My Airport & time capsule are not connected to the modem, saying no dns server is available, however the modem works when connected to the computer. (Macbook) After hours of troubleshooting, I would just restore default settings and see if I can get it going again. Can anyone provide info on restoring the default settings?

    Thank you!

    • Turning off AirPort Extreme for a minute or two
    • In the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme first... and keep taking them for 7 to 8 seconds... while simultaneously you reconnect the power on the AirPort Extreme.  (This step is a bit complicated for most users, because it takes almost 3 hands to do it properly)
    • Release the reset button to zero after the period of detention and allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme back on the way to a slow, flashing amber light status

AirPort Extreme is now back to the State it was when you took it first out of the box.

  • Why is my slower than wifi ethernet download speed when using the airport extreme?

    Hi all

This is my first post here, so please bear with me. I currently own stunted 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch and an extreme A1521 from the airport. My ISP has promised 50Mbps downloading and sending 10 Mbps. When I connect my MPro via ethernet/wi-fi to my modem I get as promised. When I connect my MPro via wi - fi to the extreme I get 48Mbps download download 9Mbps and it's ok. However, when I connect my MPro via ethernet to extreme I get 8-9Mbps download and 9Mbps. Anyone know how to fix this?

If you check the 'fine print', your ISP has promised "up to" 50 Mbit/s and 'up to' 10Mbps.  The ISP might provide more than that during periods of slow activity, like the days of the week during the day, but much less during evenings when there are many more users on the Internet.

When I connect my MPro via ethernet/wi-fi to my modem I get as promised

I assume that you meant to check the Ethernet connection, you disable WiFi on Mac when you do this. And unplug the Ethernet cable when you check the speed of the WiFi, correct?

If so, this tells you that the Ethernet port to both the modem and the Mac work properly, and WiFi work correctly as well.

When I connect my MPro via wi - fi to the extreme I get 48Mbps download download 9Mbps and it's ok.

If this tells you that the Ethernet connection between the modem and the AirPort Extreme works correctly, and wireless works fine on the AirPort Extreme.

However, when I connect my MPro via ethernet to extreme I get 8-9Mbps download and 9Mbps.

Well, you know that the Ethernet connection between the modem and AirPort Extreme works because you can register 48 Mbps Wireless.

Thus, the possibilities are narrowed to two elements at this stage:

    (1) the Ethernet cable is defective or making intermittent contact. Try another Ethernet cable, to ensure.

    (2) If you have turned off AirPort Extreme and rebooted several times, and you know that the cable between the Mac and AirPort Extreme works properly, then you have reduced the question down to the Ethernet on the AirPort Extreme, which is probably defective switch.

If you have not already done so, try other ports Ethernet on the AirPort Extreme.

As a last resort, perform a reset material on AirPort Extreme and put up again. To perform the Hard Reset... power on AirPort Extreme for a few minutes, then hold it pushed in the reset button on the back of the unit (near the AC power plug) for 7-8 seconds and release. Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart orange light flashing slow.

I once went through two consecutive airport extremes with the same question about 8 months ago, so it can happen.

If you're still having problems, then it is time to take the AirPort Extreme of Apple Store... If you have one near you... or contact the Apple Support directly by clicking on 'Contact the Support' in the upper right area of this web page.

    Good luck!

  • Airport Extreme network 4G connection

I currently have the following configuration for my internet appliances:

I have an Airport Extreme unit serving wireless three units Airport Express to extend WiFi coverage throughout the House. Physically connected to the Airport Extreme via ethernet are two televisions Panasonic who can access the same places predetermined via the internet (for example, BigPond movies and television, People, ABC iView, SBS OnDemand). To enable connectivity to other sites such as Netflix, Stan etc every Panasonic TV has its own unit of Apple TV connected to Airport Extreme via WiFi.

I use Airport Extreme for all my other internal needs such as web connectivity MacBook and iPhone.

The Airport Extreme WAN port is so physically connected to the ADSL modem and line phone Telstra for the Exchange, which is about 4 km.

The problem is that the speed of download of the ADSL 2 + are poor, maxing out at about 3.5mbps. When I listen to the live broadcast of MotoGP and World Superbike racing the picture often freezes while he puts in buffer. Watched movies via Netflix and Stan often freezes too.

I just ran a speed test on the Telstra Mobile 4 G network and I got a download speed of 111.94Mbps 41.77Mbps upload speed.

Now, I'm thinking it would be great if I could connect my home network to the internet via their WiFi 4 G device X Pro Advanced.

    My question is this:

Is it possible to connect the Airport Extreme to the Telstra WiFi 4 G device and the use of the mobile network for my internet and get rid of the ADSL modem? I don't think I can use USB Extreme airport connection, I think that the port is only to connect a printer, but I do not know if the Airport Extreme talk wireless Telstra 4 G device. Documentation of Telstra said their device will connect up to 10 devices using WiFi, but I do not know if there would be problems with the Airport Extreme router to talk to her.

After spending heaps on all these units of Apple (1 x Airport Extreme) and 3 x Airport Express I don't want to lose, but if there is no way to Airport Extreme wireless unit of Telstra (or if this method is ridiculous) so maybe I might be able to get the device of Telstra to talk to all my other WiFi devices directly. Then, I might be able to sell the extreme and expresses it.

I had a discussion with Apple Support through their chat session, but the person with which I spoke was not able to help.

    Thanks in advance.

You need a device that is able to connect via Ethernet to the AirPort Extreme base station.

With a plain/direct USB 4 G modem, a router broadband mobile sometimes can act in Bridge mode and thus provide a conversion method. For example, Dovado has these routers, but their modem (http://www.dovado.com/en/support/modems) compatibility list appears to cite that a single Telstra USB 4 G modem (ZTE) which supports the mode bridge.

Your question indicates, however, that the 4G modem is actually a mobile access point (providing a local Wi - Fi network). If so, it may or may not be possible to use the wireless Ethernet Bridge (maybe even a model of Apple AirPort Express appropriate) to join this hotspot wireless and then connect via Ethernet to the entrance of the AirPort Extreme. This is all experimental, however. Various problems, including double NAT, are to be expected.

  • Airport extreme - 6753 error

I had this airport extreme for several years and could access the utility via my PC without ever a problem. I had updated a port forwarding for a security system, and then set a NAT address when he created the error. Now I can't access the utility without the error. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but without knowing exactly what you did, it would be difficult to help you with a solution.

Let's start with what exact model of AirPort Extreme do you have? What is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have connected him directly by Ethernet? Is the "security system" a firewall machine dedicated? If Yes, what brand and model?

By "set a NAT address" are you referring to the definition of the local IP address for Port Mapping?

  • Airport Extreme loses the connection to the home network

I have an Airport Extreme (AE) with Cox Internet in my house. Version AE 7.6.7 since the end of may 2016, I lost WiFi connection radomly. I had a Cox technician out who finished just change a 'filter' in our neighborhood who feed on other Cox at the reception. He said this analog filter had to be upgraded to a digital filter.  Despite this, my WiFi kept down again. According to other Threads of the community, this problem was solved by putting the IPV6 in AE parameter for "link-local only.  I did this and still it is falling.

According to a recent post in support of Cox:

Most of the routers to retail, especially those produced in recent years, are completely compatible with IPv6. Cox has determined that the Apple AirPort Extreme routers, including Time Capsule models, may know Internet connectivity issues when running the firmware released before May 25, 2016. For more information, contact Apple Support.

To a Moderator: Apple will have an AE update for this problem?

The moderators of the forum are not questions on a user to user support forum, so don't expect a response from an Apple employee.  Please contact Apple Support directly if you wish to speak directly with Apple.

Then, Apple has already released the new firmware... 7.6.7 May 25... so it's not the question that you reference in the statement on the website of Cox. Cox was referring to a firmware sooner, like 7.6.4, for example in their declaration.

We have seen a number of messages from other users of Cox, who reported that the new firmware has resolved connection issues that existed before.

To find out where the real problem may lie, I suggest that you connect a computer (with the wireless turned off) directly to one of the LAN ports <>- on AirPort Extreme for a few days and keep an eye on the connection.

Post back your results. Then, we'll know if you have a general Internet... connection problem that could be a problem of modem... or a single wireless issue.  In all cases, it will help if you provide the model number of the AirPort Extreme you have... and... he make and model number of the modem you are using at the moment.

  • Airport Extreme 7,7,7 drop connection and internet high speed

My Airport Extreme (6th generation) have had the serious problems of the internet, as said in the title I had problems with my internet connection, I checked if that was the problem of the modem to the beginning (D3.0 Ubee) which was provided by my Internet, Charter provider.

I've had Airport Extreme for almost a year to 2 years now and since then, I had no problem with my internet until 7.7.7 update came.

I updated my firmware and this is where my random internet connection problem started.

My current contract with the Charter are their 60 Mbps (download speed) and 4 Mbps (download speed), during the first days since I've updated 7.7.7 connections was fine and then my internet has started to decline since a means 50-60 Mbps (download speed) to 0.1 - 2 mb/s (download speed), my download speed has remained a constant 3-4 MB/s (download speed). I have tried and used Opendns several times, he really did nothing.

I tried to turn off both modem and Airport extreme for a couple of minutes and turn on their return, but he does nothing and just refers to an extremely slow speed.

The only way I found to fix my problem to get my internet to 0.1 - 2 mb/s (download speed) back to its original state, I find myself to be a restore return settings on the Airport Extreme with my Airport utility by default whenever the problem returns (which contributes to a certain degree as it gets my back up to 50 internet-60 MB/s) then he drops down again).

I wanted to restore to 7.7.6 or the latest version of previous firmware before 7.7.7 (not too sure what version of firmware, it was) but I can't find how to spend my Airport extreme to my Airport utility.

My question is what could I do to fix this problem if the decommissioning of my extreme (I need instructions with this too), change some settings, get rid of the * thing and get a new router, or am I stuck resetting to the parameter by default whenever she acts upward.

I use windows 10 for my laptop

    Thank you for your time

Unfortunately, the first question that you encountered is the AirPort for Windows utility has not been updated since Windows 7. In addition, it is not supported for use with the 802.11ac latest versions of airport base stations. Then downgrade to earlier versions of the firmware for base station can be difficult, unless you can get hold of a Mac or iOS device.

If you are ready to test Windows 10, here are the steps to do:

    • Open the AirPort for Windows utility.
    • Select the base and then station in the utility menu bar, select the access point > Download Firmware...
    • Click on the Download Version dialog box, where the current version of the firmware is listed.
    • You should now see a list of the firmware versions that are available.
    • Click on the one you want to get off at.
    • Choose either 'continue' to continue with the downgrade, OR click 'Cancel' If you decide not to do so.
    • If you choose to continue, allow the firmware to be downloaded, installed and the base station to turn.
  • Internet provider DOWNLOAD speed vs Airport Extreme

    Hello

I had download speeds slow on my Airport Extreme for ipad, iPhone and imac.

I have a modem connected via Ethernet cable to an ac Airport Extreme 802.11 Optimum.

Ran to the application of speed test on my ipad II (within 5 feet of the airport).

The results showed that the download is only 2.12mbps and upload is 24.97mbps. I pay for the 50mbps service.

I tried the same thing by using a new iPhone SE and timed to 22,93 download and upload to 23.95. A little better but still not enough good.

I contacted Optimum and they ran a couple of tests showing that my modem is online, signals are ideal, there is no loss of data to the modem and there is no failure in the region.

They recommended connect a laptop directly to the router and without going through the airport. Will try it tonight to see the results.

Assuming that the connection of the cable between the modem and the laptop is fast, what I can do to improve the speed of the WiFi?

There is something to put in place at the airport? I guess there will be a reduction in speed between wired devices and WiFi but not this bad. What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support? I have at least 6 or more WiFi sharing schemes and wonder if this is the problem.

    Thank you

    Bob

Please read using the Diagnostics wireless for you help to solve the problems of Wi-Fi on your Mac - Apple Support.

What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support?

Apple recommends 50. I got that three dozen sharing an Apple base station AirPort simultaneously with no noticeable performance degradation.

The factor limiting the bandwidth will be the most restrictive of what follows, in no particular order:

    • your ISP
    • your local wireless environment, including other interference and competing wireless networks
    • the performance of the client machine
    • out of your control network conditions

Your AEBS will not limit the bandwidth, but if you have reason to believe that it is, a "hard reset" is the only possible troubleshooting step. On rare occasions, an internal parameter becomes corrupted and this is the only way to fix it. By 'rare', I mean "almost never" and the last thing you should consider, after rule out all other possible causes of poor wireless performance.
