OptiPlex 980, any diagnosis 4 lit and not start

Hi all

recently my Optiplex 980 refuses to start: when I press the power switch, starts a sequence of codes that always ends with the diagnosis of four all lit. The power switch is blue, and for a second flashing led hard drive. But nothing appens...

Any idea?

Thank you

Tiziano

Which doesn't seem to be a documented diagnostic led code...

Have you tried to disconnect all devices except keyboard, monitor and mouse?

Have you installed a new hardware or software recently?

You can try to clear the BIOS:

  1. Power off, unplug
  2. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
  3. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
  4. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
  5. Use canned air to remove dust bunnies
  6. Reinstall the PCI cards and RAM in their slots
  7. Replace the battery (use 3 volt CR2032, if this one is old, ~ $2)
  8. Case and see if it boots now with only mouse, screen and keyboard

    Hello

I have a Satellite C850 - 19(d) I will not start, unless I have the battery and reset the bios everytime, as when he turns there is a constant hissing noise that even disable the speakers will not stop.

I tried to update the bios, but its running the most recent version.
As you can imagine its driving me and my crazy family

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you

    Hi Paul

First remove the main battery from the laptop does not reset the BIOS!
To me, it sounds really strange that you should always just the battery to start the device.

Also the sound you mentioned in your post seems to come from a piece of internal material (cooling event, drive HARD or maybe CPU?) and not speakers.

I guess that there is a serious hardware problem and I don t think you will be able to solve this problem without the assistance of an authorized technician.

The computer shop said there is no fault on this laptop because it doesn t happen when they have in the store, but when I got it back again yesterday yet it arrived quickly once again, market power but no picture or anything on the monitor.

I received the laptop comes with only very basic things on and it even to play a CD when loaded as he did with the media library of doesn t.
Can someone tell me what is on the recovery disk. either this will put windows media Center and all the stuff on? It is best to take over and ask to restart from disk recovery and then try and find what was the original sin?

Any help appreciated as pulling my hair out now!

    Thank you

    Hello

Recovery CD/DVD contains recovery image. This image contains several parts. It's Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, all drivers and tools different from Toshiba and utilities.
When you install recovery image that your laptop will have factory settings as on the first day of purchase.

I think the best solution for you is to install Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 by using recovery media. I truly believe that everything will work again.

Please inform us of the results.

  • Satellite L50-A-160 does not start after the Bios Update

Hi, first of all, this is first post.

    I have 2 satellite L50-A-160 with bios 1.1

Problem: seems to go to sleep after a few minutes, even working on them (even with both)

So, I found an updated version 1.9, downloaded and running on one of the laptops. the biosupdate tool found matching the BIOS and a race.
In the middle of flashing, he fell asleep. turned on and not start. What can I do? Recovery options? I guess the same thing will happen with the other too...

What is the problem with these computers?

Besides; very poor battery, always shows 0% available and not charging...
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Best regards
    -always in the hope.
    GT

Have you tried to change in Power Options?

See screenshot and try to change the ones I marked (it can refresh the settings, just change the values) and see if this solves the problem.

and for the other laptop with no boot, a laptop sleep by updating the bios will surely mess it.

what I don't understand is why your sleep laptop BIOS update, as far as I know the sleep settings is active then on windows (since this is controlled by windows)
He does not sleep while in the BIOS you leave 1 year, sleep settings active only after loading windows.

have you tried to check the time of processor for your laptop? Maybe its overheating causing auto-off

  • HP 15634 does not start

My HP laptop, updated a few days ago and since then it does not start. It is charged and still nothing. I hit the power button and the Wi - Fi button will Flash, and that's all. No fans no noise. I took the battery, tried starting it just the adapter, still not air dusted out and not start.

I have called HP last night. They had tried me hit the power button then tap f10, hit the power button and typing f2 and hit the power button and typing esc. None of this has worked. It is only since this last update of windows. But yes it will not turn on at all. No fans, just the charging light is on. After trying all that HP said including the removal and replacement of hard disk, that they post me a prepaid box to send in for repair. Not sure that it is, but it seems to be the case with a lot of laptops.
