OR DAQPad-6020E

I have a USB the DAQPad - 6020.

When I plugged the driver has been installed and it appears in 'Device Manager', but the device does NOT appear in MAX.

I understand that it is an acquisition of Legacy data but I don't know how to install Legacy DAQ devices.

I have installed 4.8 MAX.

Can someone help me?

You will need to use NOR-DAQ traditional 7.4.4.  It is only supported in the OS to Windows XP.

  • OR DAQPad 6020e in labview 8.5

I have several Pad DAQ 6020e of from a University program. I have them work on a system of Labview 7, but when I upgraded to 8.5 they are not recognized.

I installed the traditional legacy drivers and I can perform to the MAX test panel and that it can work. How can I go to MAX for their use in a vi. ?

    Hey Brjasc,

Hardware drivers DAQ traditional default go only to install in one version of LabVIEW, so it is possible that you do not see the traditional DAQ hardware drivers in version 8.5.  To see what version of LabVIEW installed on the traditional hardware drivers DAQ, go to C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW x.x\vi.lib and see if there is a folder named "Daq".  My guess is that the data file is installed for LabVIEW 7, but not in LabVIEW 8.5.  Once find you what version of LabVIEW, this folder does not appear in, open this version, see the block diagram and then do a right click to view the range of functions. Go to IO measures and traditional DAQ then.  To install traditional DAQ in several versions of LabVIEW, visit ni.com and search for traditional DAQ Palette does not appear after the LabVIEW upgrade.

  • How to use Extech Instruments model 407123 with Labview 7.1

I'm pretty new to Labview.  With the help of this forum, I was able to configure my DAQpad 6020E with my Labview 7.1.

Now, I'm looking at using an Extech Instruments Thermo-anemometre to hot wire (407123) in my experience and it works through Labview.  According to my research, I was led to believe that I have to use the Instrument i/o Assistant and NI-Visa, but I'm having a lot of difficulties.  First, the thermo-anemometre is wired for a RS232 interface and I connected to an interface RS232 converter USB, which is then plugged into my computer.  I have the driver for the converter.  When I plug the thermo-anemometre into my computer, MAX it reads as a serial port and it is listed as COM3.  MAX argues that the device works properly.  However, when I run e/s and Labview Instrument wizard say to read the data, I get an error of bff0015 and it says that the device has expired.  I tried to change the time and I still get the same error.  I guess that means that Labview and my device are not communicating.

I saw a mention of the pilots of the instrumentation, but I could not find my particular device.  I guess that's the root of my problem and that if I had an instrument driver to run my device in Labview that it works correctly.  So here are my questions.

    (1) what should I take data by a third party thermo-anemometre in Labview?

    (2) am I correct in thinking I need some kind of driver instruments?  And if so, where could I find one (I have already searched for one and he did not)?

    (3) is possible and practical to take data through an instrument of party DAQpad Labview and a third at the same time?

    (4) are there guides or tutorials that I could use that can show me how to do what I'm doing?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I recently got a DAQPad-1200 and a copy of LabVIEW 5.0.1F1 SE EE Department at my University were throw and try to use them on a Windows 2000 computer with the drivers of NOR-DAQ 6.9.3.  However, whenever I try to make any kind of data acquisition functions, the VI indicates that call library functions are not supported in the student version.  I was under the impression that student versions were able to interface with the data acquisition equipment, and it was other features that have been disabled.  I simply mistaken, or is there another error in the software that would allow me to fix?  I know that I am asking for help with obsolete equipment and software, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    sschutta

    Hello sschutta,

Thanks for your message and questions about hardware DAQ and LabVIEW.

I see you have a DAQPad-1200 you use. Is the error you see referring a call library node or dll function call? The reason I ask is because this is not supported in the student version and could be the cause of your error. Take a look at the knowledge base which speaks of this error:

Problems with screws OR DAQ and LabVIEW Student Edition

Also, it seems that the version of LabVIEW you have is not compatible with the DAQPad 1200. See the link below for a list of supported devices:

Which DAQ cards are supported when using LabVIEW Student Edition?

Let me know if this clears up any questions or concerns about the use of your DAQ hardware! Also do you need to talk to someone about getting some new equipment for your University? Let us know and have a nice day sschutta.

    See you soon!

  • Controls programmatically 6015 DAQPad (USB)

    Hello:

I'm working on a c# .NET WinForms is to control a Pad of DAQ OR 6015 (USB) programmatically.  I would be grateful no indication on the following questions:

-We are currently using the latest version of the NI-VISA driver for the control of the instruments.  This driver will work with the Pad of 6015 DAQ as well?  If this is not the case, what driver should be used?

-I don't have any experience communicating with OR instruments.  Are there good examples or tutorials demonstrating controlling 6015 DAQ Pad of in a .NET application (IE. not using LabView)?

There a documentation available for the Pad DAQ 6015, which lists specific commands that should be used when reading and writing to the instrument?  For example, how the DAQPad-6015 for send 5 volts for, say, Channel 5?

-Our application will eventually run in Windows 7.  It will present problems of compatibility with the 6015?

    Thanks for your help!

    Chris

    Hello

The drivers, you must contact the DAQPad DAQmx drivers (the most recent is 9.4 and can be downloaded here). The 6015 is quite an old device, it is supported by 9.4, but it is not supported in Windows 7. If you look in the readme DAQmx driver 6015, you will find all relevant information. In which case examples of how to use the DAQmx driver to connect with an instrument OR the driver is provided with several examples (.h and .c files) that are in the location described in this document.

If you have decided to upgrade to Windows 7, I recommend the upgrade to more current hardware that is supported. I hope that helps!

    Kind regards

I'm reading an analog signal using DAQPad-6016.  An entry is on the ground, the other is Vdc.  I can't operate at MAX and I'm confused becaue MAX alone gives me an option for differential reading, but the list of pins give enough information on how to connect in a different way.  Is there a reference as well?

I did some basic tests on my DAQPad-6015 and whatever the pins I connected to, it always floats up to its max voltage, 10V.  I'm testing it able and automation, differential, on demand.  Any suggestions as to what is happening?

    Hey,.

I thought about it.  The problem was the ground.  I had put labview aside for a few weeks, and then completely forgot that the differential works between two adjacent pins.  I changed once out it was working perfectly.  Thanks for your help.

  • You can control a peltier with DAQPad-6015 chip?

    Hey,.

It is a simple enough question.  I was controlling a DC power supply with a labview code that I wrote.  Then my colleague told me that it was possible to control the chip peltier directly via the DAQPad.  Is this true?  If so, how I would control to ramp upward or downward at a pre-determined rate.

    Thank you

    Katie

    Hi remotecntrl,

Is what kind of chip peltier?  What kind of inputs has?  Can you give me additional info that know you about the device?

It would be possible to generate an analog output that could imitate the sinusoidal ramp you want.  If this chip can be controlled by this signal would be based on the chip and possible means, we can control.

  • VB6 with DAQmx compatibility with Microsoft Vista and Win7?

    Hello

I'm trying to figure out how what are my options for running my VB6 applications that use the API C of NOR-DAQmx with Vista or Win7.

I have certain applications that we have maintained in VB6 (with Measurement Studio 6).  I programmed the software for traditional OR-DAQ hardware originally.  I suppose that I used for about 10 years or more.  About 2 years ago or if we needed to use our software with hardware recent DaqMX I've been able to use the API C OR-DAQmx for Visual Basic 6.0.  My application really support two hardware platforms simultaneously.  The person responsible for the project wanted to have 1 single application managed the two platforms (daqmx and inheritance).  So far, it's all great.

If anyone knows what are my options if I want to use Windows Vista or Windows 7.  We are currently running this app on Windows XP.  I'm ready to upgrade my software if necessary although I have to spend to VB.net and Measurement Studio 7.1 (I currently have).  But if we were to happen tomorrow is there any compatilibility. I read that the traditional / legacy NOR-DAQ is not supported in Vista (Win7).  I googled and found there was a beta version which seemed to weakly in support of the legacy but did not support USB devices which is what I have (6020e (inheritance), SCXI (daqmx), 6259 (daqmx).)  I've heard that Windows 7 will have a virtualization system for XP applications that do not work natively under Win7, but for some reason, I doubt that the drivers and hardware will be run this way.

Also, should there be differences between Vista and 7? I'm an XP user and computers I support many XP so I really have no experience with Vista.  I plan to install the Windows 7 RC to try some of this stuff.

    Thank you, David

Use of our released traditional DAQ drivers is not supported on Vista systems, even running in virtual Windows XP mode. The driver works at a lower level which can emulate a virtual mode.

However, we have a public beta version for a traditional DAQ driver that works for Vista. You can read about this version beta here

  • How to run the DAQmxGetTaskChannels command

I'm reading the attributes of task of MAX by using various DAQmx with VB6 controls.  I found that a simple task of load (DAQmxLoadTask) generates a valid taskhandle of a known in MAX taskname that can be used to get the measurement data using the analog in the command "Read" (DAQmxReadAnalogF64).  The results seem to be already scaling according to my setup in MAX. What I want to do is read the names of the configuration tasks in MAX, select a VB and then read the names of channel and the ways of treatment of MAX and measurement data. I tried the following commands without error but still see a result null in the output string variable.

    DAQmxGetTaskName

    DAQmxGetTaskChannels

    DAQmxGetAICustomScaleName

Curiously, the command, DAQmxGetTaskNumChans, book with success the number of channels in the setup of MAX.  With this information, I can get the measurement data, but I don't have the engineering units or the names of custom channel for my header output file to include with my measured data.

I was wondering if the problem is related to incompatibility with newer versions of daqmx? Or maybe another reason?

    I use Windows XP, with service pack 6, a NOR-DAQmx 9.2.2 VB6 and NI DAQPAd-6015.

Thanks for posting, click on the link below that seems to be the reason for our problem:

This old version of Labview does not NOR-DAQmx, there NEITHER-DAQ 6.8 installed. Reading me for it suggests works with USB, but I can't find the USB drivers in installation.

Based on the response to your message here, the only USB devices supported in NOR-DAQ 6.8 are old appliances DAQPad E Series USB such as the NI DAQPad-6015 or DAQPad-6016.  All material of the M series, including variants of the USB, are no longer supported in NOR-DAQmx.
