Oracle Database Express Edition used in a stand-alone database

I have developed databases for years in access. I had a lot of people want me to databases for them. I don't want to make databases in access and then have to worry about sending a database to a different State and then find out that the user has a different version of access installed and it does not work properly.

Can I use Oracle database Express edition to create a database with a front end that I can send to others and they can install on their computer and run it? Or do need to install the full Oracle Express? In other words, is there like a version of the Runtime?

user13756579 wrote:
I saw that you had to install twice last night, messed up my password. The only thing that that worries me is the database always current running on the user's computer, when well even that they could not use the database for months at a time. These databases are of small databases to keep the data of the members of the group. That is to say. name, address, phone number, personal information and perhaps a scanned document or two.

I have looked at other database programs, but won't put a lot of money if I could develop only 3-5 small databases annually.

You can develop your application in such a manner, that it will start service Oracle XE and stop it at the exit. Set the service to start manually. That's all.

What do you mean by "port number"? HTTP port (usually 8080), or listening port (normally 1521)?

To change the name of the service, you can use (as a DBA or SYSDBA)

    Hi all

I want to use the engine of trade rules Oracle on non_soa J2EE application with weblogic server.i found my solution in this doc http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/user.1111/e10228/non_soa.htm#ASRUG828

But I want to have my business rule editor/designer as a stand-alone web application for the use of analysts to create the new rule, modify existing and... .without deployment main editing application and rules affected on app at runtime.

    Can I do it?

    Thank you.

    Fazel.

Check the functionality of the SOA composer where you can manage the rules and make them deployable to the execution of composites and applications that use the rules.  You may need to develop the first time within Jdev but you can edit and change them in SOA composer.  You can find the composer SOA in your local installation to http://hostname:soaPort/soa/composer /

I am trying to install this edition on Linux Mandriva. However, I get the message which I believe is trying to install Oracle on the root disk. Is it possible to load the installation package on the drive of the party that has 19 GB free space?

    Hello

I confirmed our Linux expert. It is not possible to change the path during the installation of package as its already defined in the RPM,.

So only solution for you is the increase in size of the root directory.

  • "the machine virtual source is not recognized" using VMWare Converter stand-alone 4.01

    All,

Shadow protect IT edition allows us to create backups of image files from our servers. We need the ability to convert files Shadow protect (SPF) in VMWare Server 2.x. files about half of our servers do not convert. We get a message that says: "the machine virtual source is not recognized. What gives? I know image backups are fine because I tested.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    vmnoob

We support only a few specific versions of ShadowProtect.

    > StorageCraft ShadowProtect 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2

There may be additional restrictions when you attempt to use these types of files, such as the following from the Manual:

    1. dynamic disks are not supported.

    2. all the images in the backup of a machine must be in a single folder, without other images placed there.

    3. for incremental images, so 16 incremental backups are supported.

    4. images of systems with logical drives are not supported if the logical drive is also a system or an active volume

    5. for volume-based cloning, all volumes on the disk until the active devices and the system must be saved.

5.1 for example, if a drive has four partitions, 1 to 4, with the partition as the active volume 2 and partition 3 as long as the system volume, the backup must include 1 to 3 partitions. (ShadowProtect only).

  • Installation and use of the stand-alone converter 5.5

    vSphere 5.1, 5.1 VMware, Windows Server R2 64 bit VM 2012

I am new to VM and VMware.  I didn't realize until today that if you allocate a certain amount of disk space for a virtual computer and later decide to reduce the allocation of disk space, you must convert "" the virtual machine to an amount reduced space during the conversion.  I allocated 300 GB to a virtual machine and I want to now the award to 100 GB.  The real Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit partition size is currently 40 GB.

What I want to do is to install the Converter 5.5 on the same physical server (Windows Storage Server 2012 64 bit) where I currently have installed 5.1 vSphere.  I would use 5.5 of converter to convert the virtual machine that has excessive disk space allocation of the physical server.

    1. What are the options use during installation of 5.5 Converter (Converter Standalone Server?, Converter Standalone Agent?, Converter Standalone Client?, etc..)

    2. are there any special advice and guidance for conversion into a VM with less disk space allocation?

    Thanks in advance.

First I create a VM "empty"?  I see are my existing VM, without the possibility to appoint a new virtual machine.

No, you don't need create a VM 'empty', just type the name for the new virtual machine and try to use a different name of the VMs on the right panel.

    • Navigate to the directory where ADR has been unpacked and run the following java command:

    java-jar ords.war

    • Set the location of the folder that contains the Oracle Application Express static resources when you are prompted.

If you have downloaded apex and who unpacked in a location then this parameter would be:

Try to replace HTTPPORT % by value of the port, should be 8080.

The installer for this shortcut usually isn't quite get finished successfully. Also allows to check, in the output of "lsnrctl status" one of those that you have three different termination points, is for the 8080 http port. If you do not have all three, the web pages are not going to work.
